Here are a few actors that I think would nail the role:

Clive Owen

Gerrard Butler

Sean Bean

Russell Crowe

For the 10.000th time:

You DO NOT see his face.

You don't need a high profile actor.

But in films, usually, people have to act. So of course you need a good actor.

Sean Bean is a good shout.

Well said. I know the whole face debate when Stallone took off his helmet 20 minute into the movie. I did'nt agree with it then, and would'nt expect it to happen again. The last movie had more problems than just Dredd taking off his mask.

If I was any good at manips then I would've posted those pics with helmets an all. Sean Bean would be great as Dredd, I pretty much enjoy all his roles.

Yea i don't particulary like the bloke, because he is always whinging about Sheffield United going down and wants them to sue my beloved Hammers. But thats for another place and another time! :D

He is a great actor, and you need a great actor in a role where you don't see their face. Maybe even more so than a role where you can see some ones face.

O yeah, did'nt he verbally abuse Neil Warnock or Bryan Robson once in front of there families. Ha ha, thats pretty hardcore for an actor. He should be Dredd based on that alone.

I like the Clive Owen and Sean Bean ideas myself. Fine actors.

Hugo Weaving didn't show his face in V but I'm glad it was him behind the mask.

As for Dredd.... hmmm.

How about Henry Rollins for the voice?

:doom: :doom: :doom:

You obviously need the actor to be a big guy with a distinctive voice, so they need to be careful who they choose, Bean and Owen are good choices, but Owen isnt big enough for me to be Dredd.

Top choices:

1. Johnny Messner

2. Ray Stevenson(if he happens not to do another Punisher. hope he does)

3. Brian Thompson

4. Sean Bean

5. Jason Statham

I actually think Tom Jane would make a good Judge Dredd. Bit of a left field choice I know but he has the build and voice IMO.

....he would certainly do a better job than Stallone, that's for sure.

Definately, and he is actually a talented actor, watch The Mist for evidence of this, so I think he would be perfect.

I also think Rhona Mitra would be a good Judge Hershey.

But those actors would want to BE SEEN and the studio has to PAY a lot of money so the studio wants them TO BE SEEN, too.

That's why you must cast an unknown.

Hugo Weaving's face was never seen in V For Vendetta.

I've never read Judge Dredd but I assume if made into a movie again that some kind of performance will be needed. Unknown is not always the way to go.

Gerard butler is pretty good at yelling.

Dredd's face should never EVER be seen so although, yeah you need to cast a proper actor, casting a big name is pointless. I mean, why waste money when it'd be better spent on effects and top notch behind the scenes talent?
You ask me, Patrick Warburton would be the perfect Dredd. Think about it.

Perfect actor, Perfect face, perfect build, perfect voice.
Just imagine the teaser being released ending with him in full costume shouting "I AM THE LAW!"
Nice.

He'd need a voice coach, but Jason Statham would be a good choice.
