Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (PS3 and 360)

Played the demo and really liked it. I keep reading that it has almost nothing to do with the original Castlevania games. So is the game worth the $59.99 or is it more of a "wait for the price drop" title? It looks amazing from what I can tell, and I've heard it's a nice lengthy game. Is there any reference to the Belmonts or anything like that?

You ARE a Belmont. It has "nothing to do" with past Castlevania's because this is a reboot for consoles. The DS will continue the current Metroidvania style and current on going storyline.

Look at this game as Castlevania 1. The Belmont clan and the Vampire Killer START here.

However, after finishing up some of these puzzles how any "professional" reviewer can say there's no "past Castlevania influence here" is beyond me. Again, unless they started playing Castlevania at SotN....they can't be serious when they say that.

Ok so Reviews on the run had their review of the game and a retropective of their own on past games they reviewed. reliving them last night.

so for those in north america you'll find this to be interesting Episode. it'll up on the Reviews on the run site next week wenesday,

I'm on Chapter 8 right now.

So far the game has its ups and downs. I'm getting better with the controls, but there are still some platform jumping issues that erk me.

I'm not looking forward playing through the past levels again to get the relic upgrades.

On a side note, when you get to the Vampire Castle they mention it was once occupied by the "Bernhardts" or something in that regard. Are they a family mentioned in any previous games? What about the fact that the castle is 'alive' and that there has been no map made of this castle. What were they alluding to?

Yeah I just watched some of those retrospect videos and it mentioned something to that regard.

I just beat the game and I thought the ending was great, [BLACKOUT]although Zobek betraying him was a given. I don't get how Zobek (ie. the Necromancer) is still alive since he was burned to a crisp and Satan came out of his body? When did they both become vampires? [/BLACKOUT]

Anybody have any idea?

OH MY GOD!!!:wow:

Picked this up last week. Fun game. Definitely has it's issues, but it's not as bad as some of the reviews I've read.

Good, maybe you can explain this to me:

It was not explainded I beliebe but there will DLC coming for this game that will expand the story so keep an eye out for that and you might just get your answers.

That music box level has got to be one of the single most frustrating levels I've ever played in any game. The one after it is just an example of bad level design too.

Just finished the game. The whole set up before the final boss battle wasn't that surprising to me, but the scene after the end credits was awesome. I love the fact that this serves as a prequel to the Castlevania games. I'm wondering if a sequel (they have to do one) will keep the players as Gabriel or finally introduce Simon Belmont. Perhaps it could even be set in modern times?

Yeah I think I had to restart the level like 10 times playing that level.

Don't even get me started. I don't know how the other difficulties are, but I played through on hard which meant I started every level with the health I previously had. If I had barely any health left, then that's what I got. There were times were a strong breeze would've killed Gabriel in certain levels. It was frustrating to say the least.

Glad it's all done with. It was a pain at times, but a solid game nonetheless. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with a sequel.

I gotta point out I thought this game was really fantastic. It had more depth to it than God of War and I really bought into the fantasy world. But it looks gorgeous.

It's my game of the year, no question.

Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow Whips Up A Double Dose Of DLC

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow left many unanswered questions lingering after the credits rolled, and Konami plans on answering them with a double dose of downloadable content coming next year to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The ending to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow was...let's just say it was interesting and leave it at that. Hopefully some of the plot twists will get a little ironing out with next year's downloadable content.

The first batch of downloadable content is called Reverie, which sees Gabriel returning to the Castle to aid Laura, former servant to the vampire Carmilla. Apparently her queen was holding some sort of evil in check, and now that she's no longer a going concern, that evil is running rampant. Reverie will be hitting the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live in February.

Then in April Konami follows up Reverie with Resurrection, which continues the story directly following the game's epilogue. Expect questions answered, new questions asked, and a showdown with "a very notorious enemy."

Expect prices for Reverie and Resurrection to be revealed as we get closer to their release dates.

I loved the game so I'll definitely get both of these.

I finally got this game, and my god is it beautiful. I'm only playing it on a standard TV, and it's gorgeous.

Yeah the game may start off slow but it keeps getting better and better, tho i do think the game's difficulty was abit too high at the start, but it gets easier after the first major boss imho.

I love all the Castlevania games. Glad to see its popular
