To celebrate here is a random half naked picture of Tom Selleck.

That's solid snake you know, or rather, floppy snake from the looks of it.

No, let Raiden's story end. Unless it is a prequel, leave Raiden alone. His story ended perfectly. Just whatever you do...don't make it Metal Gear Akiba.

Im really not interested in a MGS game set in the future. MGS4 wrapped up the series perfectly. I only want prequels from here on out

Shouldn't they basically just do a PS3 version of Portable Ops???
Id love that except it would take away from Portable Ops. I think Konami will keep that series exclusive to the PSP. A PS3 sequel to MGS3 would rock. Playing as Big Boss in the jungle with this generation's technology and hardware as Kojima originally envisioned it would be too good to be true.

Well I know I will never get a PSP just to play Portable Ops. But if they adapt it and rework it for the PS3 I would buy it for sure.

If anything we'll see it get a PS2 release before a PS3 update

Lol, agreed and was thinking the same thing about Akiba. The thought of hiding in a box, and then suddenly you hear a stomach gurgle and he tosses off the box and holds his stomach....Akiba should not get his own game ever :(.

I'd actually like to see a game set after MGS4 tho. I agree with Havok that a prequal would be fun, but those are a mess to tie in with an already existing game. I'd like to see the fallout from MGS4. What's more is that everythings kinda back to status quo, they could start fresh without having to worry about MGS4's war torn world. I'll once again echo that I'd like to see a group playing clean up on a post MGS4 world. An independant group taking out rogue PMC's, etc., and then the story branch's out from there.

The Metal Gear Solid series should be over, but the Metal Gear series should not. The next game should take years later, with Solid dead and a new Snake to take his place.

Or better yet, the son of Gray Fox! If they have to though, I guess they could find an excuse for there to be another Snake somewhere.

Ugh...I really don't want a MGS5. Maybe they're just putting in the "Solid" for sale purposes(similar to MGS3). I felt MGS4 was a fitting end to the series, and shouldn't go on from there, like Havok said. If they do make a sequel, I would want it placed in the DISTANT future. Think about it. SPOILER MGS4 conclusion: Snake will be dead soon, Big Boss is dead, Raiden's story should not go any further, Meryl and Johnny are all wrapped up, Don't know about Drebin, Otacon, or Sunny, the Patriots are all dead, the economic war is over. If they had a MGS5 10-50 years after MGS4, it wouldn't work. What I would want is a clear prequel of Big Boss's creation of Outer Heaven(this was supposed to be MGS: Portable Ops 2, but since Payton is leaving, they probably cancelled that for the time being). Either that, or a prequel of Snake's time between MGS2-MGS4. I don't know where they're heading with the Metal Gear Series, but I hope it doesn't turn into another Star Wars.

I dont think a new game will be called MGS5. Theres nothing even official yet and I think the use of the term MGS5 is just a codename used as a reference point for anyone regarding a future entry to the series. It'll probably unofficially be referred to as MGS5 by everyone until theres an official statement and an actual name is given

Ah, well that makes sense. I guess it's a little too early to make those kind of assumptions.

Could they possibly remake the NES Metal Gear?
I've actually been waiting for that. I'd love to see the original two Metal Gears be remade into Next-Gen games. Especially since they aren't well known to casual gamers. Hopefully it will come.

If they do do a remake, I dont think it will be quite what people expect. I dont think we'll see a MG remake with MGS4 graphics and gameplay. If anything they will remake it and either put it out for the PSP or on the PSN. Either way it would be a much smaller title. I see it kind of getting the Bionic Commando Rearmed treatment

After enjoying MGS4's buttery smooth gameplay, I think several things need to come for MGS5:

1. Start with a new hero and new characters that exist in the same world after the events of MGS4.

2. Go back to the one area/one timeline/one mission premise seen in MGS, MGS2, and MGS3 as opposed to the globe-trotting adventure of MGS4.

Now that Snake's story is over, Konami has a great opportunity to start planning a new saga in the MGS universe.

I merged this with the previous Metal Gear Solid 4 thread on account that it has pretty much become the Official Metal Gear Thread

The best way to go about it is probobly Akiba. What most people fail to realize is that Akiba was actualy a genome soilder. Which in turn means he was partialy created from the genes of Big Boss, hence the reason he slightly resembeled both Solid and Liquid snake. If they were going to continue the series they would probobly use Akiba and have Snake and Otacon guiding him through his mission. They could actualy show Snake die and the full effect of Fox Die.....and some interesting effects that it could have on Akiba, being that he would have the genes from three people it was designed to kill (Solid, Liquid, and Big Boss) This is how it should be done IMO.

I bet half of you don't even know where the term "Akiba" derives from :hehe:

Indeed. I prefer the sneaking past soldiers and guards to the going through a battlefield approach. Interesting locations like the ship from 2 would be great. A prequel would own though, I want more Big Boss!!!(Subsistence is my favorite)

They need to engineer a Cold War Solid Eye though, because the simplicity and utility behind it are beautiful.

It'd be cool if they add Co-op so it can be you and your friend going around and killing peopl stealthily.

I dont ever think we'll see co op in a MGS game of the main series. The main point of Snake's missions is to do it alone and be as undetected as possible and thats kind of hard with someone tagging along. What I can see is some short multiplayer co op scenarios that are non canon. I wouldnt mind that

What's it like on the ground floor? Cuz on the top she has her henchmen fly around and bomb you, and she'll hover occcasionally and shoot you with her grenade launcher, is that how it goes if you never go up?

She'll go into the building and hover in one spot trying to pick you off with the launcher. She's closer and easier to shoot.
