I doubt Sam will kill her because her character will not be big enough to have the right amount of imapct.
As for why cynic boy over here said Gwen wasn't in the first, I can answer. Raimi did ORIGINALLY plan for it to be Gwen and for her to die at the end. But Arad intervened saying that "MJ has been in the comics for 20 years as the main sequeeze, just use her" or something to that extent. Which translates IMO into that killin Gwen would be too dark for our first big superhero movie just use the redhead. Sure SM1 lost some of its impact because of this but I think Sam more than used the one-girl thing to his advantage in the second film and twisted it into something great and the third is essientially where Pete and MJ were in the mid and late 80s now.
