Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther! - Part 5

DC will have already beaten Marvel to punch in regards to both a female and minority led superhero anyways.

Don't fret though. Stan Lee and I are working on a Black Panther movie to come out in 2027, and I'm secretly serenading Katee Sackhoff into being Ms. Marvel in 2028.

If we have to wait that long have mercy

The only reason why we have to wait that long is because Stan Lee, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Katee Sackhoff, and I are fighting ninjas while trying to film the movies. **** gets real a lot, so it delays things.

I think Feige will announce BP and CM probably because he's tired of being asked about it.

Everyone knows my cynicism regarding this movie. It's been overdue for a while now, and they should hit this while the iron is hot instead of waiting too long. Right now they can print money and do anything, but they don't seem to want to have a movie featuring a minority lead or female lead. They wanted to sell a movie featuring a talking racoon and a tree that said the same line over and over again before selling the Avenger that fits much better into their universe than any other hero right now. It's okay to use his vibranium and the flying harness that Falcon wears, but they don't want to use the man responsible for it. It wouldn't shock me if they use the Quinjet in the next Avengers movie while not even acknowledging that Black Panther designed it.

I'm glad that Stan Lee is basically talking about BP every chance he gets. It's like he's forcing the issue because his tone is very different than Feige. I have a bad feeling that they're going to wait until the golden Marvel age of cinema is over to do a Black Panther movie so that they can use that Hollywood logic. "Hey man we gave you a Black Panther movie and everything, and none of you showed up. So what we only had one commercial for it, and the movie came out at the worst time of year. You should have gone to see it!"

Agree with everything you said and I had no idea that BP designed the Quinjet. At any rate we all know it's gonna be Stark's design in the Avengers. I think Disney is fearful as I mentioned before of a majority Black cast and worry about spending a massive budget. Sadly they still view BP as to big risk and I can promise you they took a chance with GOTG but saw that as less risky. We have a better chance of seeing BP introduced in Cap or The Avengers before he gets a solo film. We can ****** about FOX and WB all we want but it seems they'll be the studio ending up with a black hero first then marvel. Don't know if they'll make an issue out of it, cause even though F$ will likely suck FOX took a risk with Jordan as the Torch and they have my respect for that even though he should remain white andI'm black and think his color shouldn't be changed. Unless they can tap someone like Will Smith to take the lead it's not gonna happen.

To offer a counter point however GOTG was to set up more on the Infinity stones and introduce the cosmic side of marvel. Maybe BP is in the works who knows, we'll just have to wait and see.

It's too soon to criticize Marvel for not make a POC led movie. Will DC come first? Probably, if the Rock is Shazam and that comes out in 2016. But they have not announced their full slate of films.

And isn't Vin Diesel a person of color? What if he becomes Black Bolt?

Will Smith is a huge box office star, and had a streak of sci-fi/comedic sci-fi hits. A Black Panther movie won't be a straight up comedy or star Will Smith (thankfully). And like you said a few posts ago it would feature lots of black people. There really is no comparing a potential BP movie to Hancock.

I wasn't I was just saying there has been a solo Black hero movie that has done well. I know will Smith is more of the reason for that success.

That "won't be starring Smith(thankfully) part was funny.

Will Smith would have demanded that Marvel cast his kids in any MCU film he does.

MAybe we should consider that BP may show up in Avengers 2. Not in a big role but Marvel is good at surprising us.

There's no need to bash Marvel Studios for not having BP yet. As I said they have not announced their full schedule. Also their track record at the box office should give them the benefit of the doubt.

But I guess that (the benefit of the doubt) doesn't exist here. It's "hey lets bash Marvel Studios for not having Black Panther yet" day when there is no legit reason to bash them.

Billy Willy would of demanded a big ass check, and a producer credit. Having one one of his kids in it isn't a big deal. I just saw Maleficent and Angelina had one of hers in that as well. He's still an A list star,I guess, and with that comes certain conditions.

He was accused of nepotism when he cast his daughter in the remake of Annie, which he is producing.

Would it have to have a massive budget? If Marvel are moving to 3/4 films a year could they not try a smaller budget film that doesn't have to be a blockbuster? Blade did well enough on a smaller budget. Well enough to have a couple of sequels. This will have a lot of attention solely for the fact it is part of the Marvelverse so will be guaranteed viewers.
Do all the films have to be boxoffice smashes?

Would love to see it set mostly in Africa. Young T'challa returns home from University naive and quiet. Beautiful land with lush jungle. His land then gets invaded by a powerful warlord Man Ape. T Challa flees the country. Travelling through the jungle scared witless being stalked by a Panther that he thinks will eat him.
Finally he gets clear of the jungle and makes his way to a refugee camp. No-one knows who he is and he falls in with a thief stealing food in order to survive.
Finally sees one of his fathers advisors who is in the camp badly wounded and dying. Who convinces him that these are his people and that he needs to save them. He then dies.
The thief then knowing who he is and takes him to see a witch doctor who tells him of the Black Panther legend and that he is guardian of his people. He must find the temple of the panther and earn his place. He reenters the jungle finds the temple and then defeats Man Ape.

A cross between tarzan and black hawk down. See both sides of Africa, it's beauty and it's horror. Would be different to the other comic book flicks.

I don't think BP has to have a massive budget but it would require the right story.

His daughter is not playing Annie the little girl who is. Is named Quvenzhane Wallis, the youngest actress ever nominated for an Oscar. Big Willy's daughter may have a role in the film but its not a starring one.

She was set to play her years ago but I think she aged ouf of the role.

So it's safe to say Chadwick Boseman has been approached for the role? What were the initial/starting rumors again? I just went through a few of his interviews and the dude lights up like a child whenever BP is brought up. His publicists even seemed all excited in one.

I'm going to give Marvel Studios the benefit of the doubt here. Let's take a look at everybody they've introduced via solo movies.

Iron Man, Hulk, Cap and Thor are off the table IMO. They're easily the four most high profile characters MS had at their disposal, so I don't think there was ever any doubt that they were coming out before Black Panther.

Guardians Of The Galaxy is considerably lower profile, but I can see why they put that out before Black Panther as well. Firstly, and most importantly, it blows the cosmic side of the Marvel universe wide open. Secondly, contrary to popular belief, a well made space/sci-fi adventure with a large scope is basically a safe bet. We're basically talking about the Star Wars, Star Treks and Avatars. A talking raccoon and walking tree? Um, that just made said bet even safer by really appealing to children. That isn't to say I think Black Panther isn't a safe bet... I believe it very much is.

Personally, I would have delayed Ant-Man in favor of a Black Panther movie, but like Feige himself said, the only reason they went forward with Ant-Man was that Marvel basically fell in love with the concept of an Edgar Wright Marvel movie way back when, and Edgar Wright wanted to do Ant-Man... or more specifically, To Steal An Ant-Man.

In any case, I think it's a very safe bet that the next three new solo film properties that Marvell introduces will be Black Panther, Captain Marvel and the Inhumans... in some order. I think all the hair-rending and hand-wringing over the lack of a Black Panther film is a little premature at this point.

I expect Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Ms. Marvel to take over the solo duties from Iron Man, Cap and Thor (with Inhumans and GOTG on the side). Though unfortunately it seems as if Ms. Marvel is a one-off or "eh, I don't know" situation...

Would you all be okay with a BP film that was mostly set in the US ?

Avengers 3, in any case.

Joss is introducing Wanda, Pietro and Vision, so seems unlikely he will introduce Black Panther and Ms Marvel too, or any of the two. Introducing the five of them seems to much, and not Marvel's style

If the story is great, i guess i'd be fine with it but whats the point? Feige is always going on about how he wants every film to be different and distinct. Why would you take BP out of Wakanda when its a big part of what makes him stand out among the other Avengers? There's so much you could do visually with African landscapes, people, culture and music that would be very different from all the other earth based heroes. Not to mention the royalty aspect.

You put BP in America and he essentially becomes a black Tony Stark in the eyes of many.

I am wondering if the reason Feige is holding back on announcing Black Panther and Captain Marvel is because they both show up in Age of Ultron and Marvel wants that to be a surprise, with solo features announced shortly after that film's release (e.g. SDCC 2015). In the meantime, he's willing to make us frustrated, because a.) our anger at a lack of clear signs of CM or BP movies aren't going to hurt the bottom line on an Avengers sequel, and b.) he knows that once those movies ARE announced, all we be forgiven.

Between Stan Lee's comments, Chadwick Boseman's responses every time he is asked about it, and Devin Faraci's script scoops, I am getting the very distinct impression that a Black Panther movie has already been greenlit, Chadwick Boseman has already been cast, and he is cameoing as T'Challa in Age of Ultron.

Also, this is pure speculation, but I bet you they try to snag Antoine Fuqua to direct, since he is likely to be super hot coming off of The Equalizer later this month.

First movie should be BP-in-Africa, second movie can bring him to the states. Think of it like the Captain America model with WW2 vs. modern day.
