I do think Marvel will have a minority led Superhero film because if they announce their entire schedule without Black Panther (although with Carol Danvers), and DC announces Aquaman with Jason Mamoa (who's Hawaiian of Polynesian lineage), then Marvel has some explaining to do. People will ask Kevin Feige:
- You do have a female superhero film on the schedule and that's good, but where's the minority led superhero film?
And they will keep asking him that question when he promotes every Marvel movie, including if they decide on Carol Danvers.
Well it's not up to Feige, I wish people would not assume it's up to him cause its not. He has no power to green light films. Yes I'm sure he has some pull based off his success at running Marvel but it's up to the top Disney Brass that decides to spend the money. Just like at WB, FOX, Universal, and Sony. The same old guard is there with the same mentality and stereotypes about minority films and what they should be and how the actors should be portrayed. This is why we get god awful films like Ride Along and Soul Plane and the over the top loud black comedians like Chris Tucker back in the day and Kevin Heart today. Or the black struggle movies set before Civil rites and the White teacher or savior character that goes into the tough Urban environment to save the bad gang banging, gun toting and drug dealing black and hispanic youths. These are the projects that Studio execs green light with no problem and not films like a well done BP film.
Studio Exec: Can't we put this Black Panther character in the US and he's saving the hood from a ruthless Gang leader that has the citizens in the projects living in terror. You know one or more is gonna love that idea.
