Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther! - Part 5

His origin is so important to who he is I can't imagine they skip it. It's not like Batman or Spider-Man where everyone has seen it all before.

Having him as a prince in CA:CW would be interesting and a good way to get to know the man behind the mask first.

It's about time Black Panther got his chance to shine on the big screen!!

Hopefully the translation from concept art to live-action costume looks just as good as that artwork.

I wonder if Marvel would be interested in getting Denzel Washington on board as actor/director much like they did with Jon Favreau? Besides directing he could play a supporting role to give the movie gravitas much like Anthony Hopkins, Michael Douglas etc. are doing in the MCU.

He was interested back in '07....

Some might say it's smart business to play a big, blockbuster-franchise superhero-type role, but you guys have avoided those.
WASHINGTON: I'll play a superhero. If there were a good one to play, I'm not against playing a superhero. First of all, I haven't been offered...[To Crowe] Have you been offered any superheroes?
CROWE: [Smiling] A couple.
WASHINGTON: Ha! ''A couple.'' See, I haven't gotten that. I can't be Superman. [To Crowe] I'll tell you what: If you can be Joe Louis, I'll play Superman.
CROWE: [Reaching across to shake hands] There you go. That's a f---ing deal. But let's go through this: What do you get with a superhero role? You get a spandex costume and every now and then a cape.
WASHINGTON: It's not a good look.
CROWE: There's just not a lot to really attract you to that. So where does the superhero thing go? [Shrugs] That puts us on a different rung. We're outside. We're not in the cape club. What can you do?

Crowe later ended up playing Jor-El....with a cape.

That concept art for the suit is maybe the most perfect suit on film since toby maguires spiderman. amazing

I'm so happy. What more can I say?

Just think about...
First, casting
Then merchandise, video games etc
Then sequels etc.

What a fantastic time to be a black panther fan!

So, I've heard people say that they think they're going to skip his origins, but I don't think thats true. During the press event, Kevin Feige called him "a little bit of a prince, who might become a little bit of a king". I doubt they would kill T'chaka off in CA:CW, so I assume he will still be the Prince of Wakanda. Unless of course they do his origin in flashbacks later. I wonder if he will have his powers yet.

I keep hearing that notion thrown around but I think it was limited to Doctor Strange and people have taken it as a blanket statement for the entirety of MS future.

So, I'm super hyped about this. Gonna watch 42 and Get On Up to see how Boseman is.
The concept art looks fantastic. I think if he were to wear a cape, it'd be in ceremonial scenes only. A cape would weigh down the look. He should look sleek and agile. Also, yeah, Batman comparisons.

Only just noticed that BP is coming out only 2 weeks before Justice league, wish it was a month or so before.

Good catch...I was/am so overjoyed about this announcement that I hadn't even thought of the placement of the film in relation to other superhero movies from Warner/DC, Sony and Fox. (And I was busy doing a victory lap for correctly predicting that a Black Panther film would be in the 11/3/17 slot...lol)

History was on the side of us doubters.

I freaking love the casting of Boseman, and that suit literally made me cry tears of joy!

What are the chances Hudlin is involved in this?
I don't know if his stuff really is as bad as I felt it was, but since I read him after reading what Priest contributed to the character I just couldn't abide by what I he did.

I'll repost someone else's breakdown of why what Hudlin did was crap.

I bring him up since Feige did mention he was meeting with him in the future and I'd hate to think Hudlin would have anything to do with the character's cinematic introduction.

Nah. Hudlin's busy with screwing up a Static Shock live action project at the mo'

So basically... he oversimplified Wakanda? He didn't make the character a laughingstock or depower him, or destroy Wakanda, or give him a rainbow colored sidekick, he just... wasn't deep enough? That's grounds for throwing out someone's input completely where this guy is from? Or because he was oversensitive to criticism, we then decide he's a lousy human being? Tough times.

Seeing as how bringing Wakanda to life is one of their big challenges, and Hudlin has the unique combination of being a comic book writer, being a filmmaker and being a Black Panther fan who brought Wakanda to the common ignorant Western man, chances are they'll meet with him to get his ideas. This does not mean that he will be writing or directing the movie, that he will be in a position to do anything that was "just so unforgivable" from Volume 3. it just means they can grab the things that made Hudlin's Panther more accessible, the kinds of things that made Django work better/more accessible than the average Tarantino movie. Because Hudlin is good at that, and ignoring that unique resource because you feel his politics are too simple is vindictive and kinda silly. "I don't want your apples, because you have too many oranges!"

Also, the thing about being a producer, if they even bring him on in that capacity, is that it doesn't take a lot of time. Feige and Co are producing 3+ films at once, no problem, which is not uncommon for producers to do. I have no doubt that Hudlin can do the same, if he isn't doing it already.

Hudlin is a bit of a hack. Not a major talent by any means, but my guess is that some of his tweaks will make their way into the script. As long as he isnt writing or directing, I have no problem with it.

And Feige is smart to find a way to include him. Keep him happy and on board. Give him a producing credit and nice size check.

I just can't get over how awesome that costume looks! :D can't wait for the Black Panther movie!

I'm calling it now, Black Panther's cape is the new Thor's helmet. It'll show up, but probably only in one scene as a ceremonial attachment to the costume. I hope I'm wrong, though.

Unless you can fly or are trying to hide or it can be used offensively or defensively, a cape during battle is useless and a liability.

Hahah and so it begins...

Face it, there's no way this wasn't going to happen. The BPP is what a lot of people think when they hear Black Panther. I have always viewed this as one of the obstacles to this movie getting made.

But people with a brain will get clued in quickly enough in and the ignorant will continue to remain ignorant and say stupid things like this. Best bet is to try and educate people, hopefully in a mature manner rather than typical raging fanboy mode, which only makes things worse.
