Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther! - Part 5

Face it, there's no way this wasn't going to happen. The BPP is what a lot of people think when they hear Black Panther. I have always viewed this as one of the obstacles to this movie getting made.

But people with a brain will get clued in quickly enough in and the ignorant will continue to remain ignorant and say stupid things like this. Best bet is to try and educate people, hopefully in a mature manner rather than typical raging fanboy mode, which only makes things worse.

The BPP and the KKK are in no way comparable, making that person's tweet even more stupid.

The Black Panther Party has not been relevant for 30 years. Most of the key figures are either dead or living in Cuba.

Most people under 30 I know have never even heard of the Black Panther Party and if they have they don't know much about them.

Outside of the U.S most people aren't even going to think of the BPP who's heyday was decades ago.

Didn't Marvel once change Black Panther's name to something else back in the 70s? Black Tiger or Black Puma or something like that? Glad that never stuck.

And really, do people expect that Marvel would change it now just because some people think of the BPP?

and I would have beenhella mad if they went that route and didnt use" Black panther!!"( i woudl have picketed outside MARVEL for that ^&*)
like Mel brooks said you cant please all of the people all of the time so who cares if they dont Dig " Black Panther" and unlike "KKK-MAN"( why am i not surprised by that stupid comment!) Black Panther fights for EVERYBODY!!
I am still jonesing about this Flick and Chadwick!:woot:

The BPP has been irrelevant and/or forgotten for decades. Some people are only aware of its existence becsuse they were in the film Forrest Gump.

That camp costume makes him look more like Hypno Hustler or some other similar character. :woot:

But I'm pretty sure there was another variation after he actually had been officially named. In fact, now that I look it up, he actually went by Black Leopard in Fantastic Four #119 in 1972, precisely to avoid being associated with the BPP. Glad that didn't last.

Somebody should start a count of how many people are going to wander in here and mention how irrelevant the BPP is. And then another person should start a count for every time they get mentioned by the media or idiots on twitter.

Then when the film comes out we can compare them and declare a winner.

because there *are* people alive over 30, and I suspect more will remember them than you think.

And that's all I have to say about that.

Are you being sarcastic or saying they are a relevant, political force today?

saying they are a relevant, political force today?

Did I say that? No, I didn't. I said you can expect people to keep bringing them up, and with more frequency the more news this film generates, because however irrelevant they may be, people still remember the 60's. That's all. You've already seen one tweet from some moron who does, and it won't be the last one.

Stop trying to pin an agenda on me, plz.

Anyway this is the Chadwick Boseman thread now, carry it to the news & discussion one if you feel an overwhelming urge to continue.

We have a Black Panther forum!

I think WT just meant that racist idiots were going to be racist idiots the moment a Black Panther movie was announced, given the name. He wasn't trying to draw an equivocation between the BPP and KKK.

But yeah, the person trying to draw the comparison looks more idiotic than anyone.

Really cannot wait for more racist idiots to come out of the woodwork. In the meantime, I'll just be over here, stroking and gazing upon the BAMF Black Panther concept art and pics of Chadwick!

ETA: Semi-related to this topic, has Fox News made any comments about the Black Panther movie? Because I'm sure that'll be entertaining.

The best way to handle that type of KKK-Man tweet is to give her the Dolemite treatment. I can't post the video here, but all you gotta say is, "***** are you for real?!" That solves everything.

I think the forum should be blacks only.

:o

The BP movie is the only chance to cast a black woman in a significant role in an MCU movie that won't play an alien. Sadly though that woman will probably not be in any Avengers movies, leaving the female roster that will face Thanos largely white (with Gamora as non-white).

Rosario Dawson and Zoe Saldana are the only black women in the MCU, and Saldana is playing a green alien and Dawson is playing a regular human. We'll get Monica Lynne as the love interest in BP.

Of course, as soon as Misty Knight is announced as the female lead for Iron Fist, every Black actress between the ages of 25 to 40 will be rumored. I don't expect we'll see Monica Rambeau in the MCU until after Part 2 of Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet.

Can't believe we finally have a Black Panther forum.

So, I wonder what Nokio's reaction is to all of this? Does he still think that this film will flop because the GA won't buy a big budget film with an all black cast?

I agree with Rock. Really? A few dumbasses make a tweet and now it's "a bunch of people" and "an obstacle"?

The name is not going to be a problem and will not be a problem. This is a problem with social media (and journalism, but that's another topic). Just because there are a few idiots on Twitter being stupid does not mean there's a sizable amount of people having a problem.

Most people under 30 I know have never even heard of the Black Panther Party and if they have they don't know much about them.

Outside of the U.S most people aren't even going to think of the BPP who's heyday was decades ago.

The current BPP today is a joke an has been a joke for decades.

Chadwick Boseman was awesome as Jackie Robinson in 42. After seeing that stellar performance, I know he can take on the role of Black Panther!

I hope we see Panther's combat style as something very acrobatic. Very Capoeria or parkour styled. With the full body suit with mask you can have the stunt team sub in for Boseman easy.
