So, this August in Sensational Spider-Man, Chameleon will apparently be organizing a new group of Spider-Man's Deadly Foes...

What would be your ideal line-up?

    I'd like to see some of the C-List villains get a chance to shine, and maybe increase their threat level somewhat;

    Chameleon
    Shocker
    Shriek
    Venom (Gargan)
    Rhino
    Mad Jack

I'd like to see these people fight alongside the Chameleon:
    Shocker
Scorpion (Yea, yea, I know he's Venom now, but I'd rather have Scorpion even if it ain't goin to happen)
    Sandman
Kraven II since he seems to be simply a replacement for the original now.

I don't know, that seems like an odd lineup, but that's it.

Didn't the Sensational description say that he's gathering Spider-Man's deadliest foes???

The likes of Shocker,Shriek,Beetle and Rhino don't really fall under that category. If he's going to arrange an assault on Spider-Man,then he'd be wiser to recruit the likes of Ock,Electro,Vulture etc.

True, I was even thinking of adding Ock and Vulture in my list but then I thought that the odds of them taking orders from Chameleon wouldn't be too good.

I'm positive Ock would never take orders from anyone. He's a leader not a follower. But there's no mention of Chameleon being a leader.

It just says he's gathering Spidey's deadliest foes for an assault on Spider-Man.I hope/assume that once they get together they'll make their plan of attack together.

But seeing as the story is only a 3 parter,I'm also assuming it's a short lived attack. But either way I'm pumped that we're going to see some rogues gallery villain action. It feels like forever since we had a story like this.

And ruin another classic death?? No thanks.

    No snub ;)

I'm just tired of Norman's antics.Between Sins Past and the Marvel Knights stuff,I've had enough of "mastermind" Norman being behind everything bad in Peter's life.He should have stayed in his grave IMO.

If we have a villainous gathering of the classics in this Chameleon team thing,I want it to be a Goblin free zone.Unless Kingsley returns as Hobgoblin of course.

Well, the original Deadly Foes Of Spider-Man mini series actually featured the likes of Beetle, Rhino, etc., so i figured on keeping with tradition.

To me, if we start addng Ock, Electro, Vulture, and so forth, then we just might as well call it a Sinister Six revival...

    Chameleon
    Shriek
    Mad Jack
    Vulture
    Mysterio

No Goblins. They arent exactly team players. Even when Norman organised the Sinister Twelve, he left them with Peter to go get a piece of MJ.

Would Al Kravinoff fight with his dad's buddy to beat up Spider-Man? Did any writer give a **** about Al Kravinoff other than Howard Stern's buddy, whatever his name was?

    Eh, I doubt he would.

There's a difference between deadly foes of Spider-Man and deadliest foes of Spider-Man.Yes the likes of Shocker and Rhino are deadly, but the Sensational description said the deadliest foes of Spider-Man are being gathered. And that to me doesn't say C-Grade villains like those mentioned above.
And really,if you were as smart as the Chameleon and arranging an assault on Spider-Man,would you turn to the Beetle or Shocker for help,or would you go to Doc Ock,Electro,Vulture and their ilk??

I'm not saying you're wrong Captain,I'm just saying that deadliest foes doesn't sound like Beetle,Rhino etc.

I have no problem with the Six coming back :)

Im sure Chameleon is smart enough to stay as far away from the likes of Doc Ock and Electro as possible. Those guys dont respect him enough to follow his lead on any capers, especially one involving Spider-Man.

I definitely think Chameleon would seek out allies who were easier to manipulate...

    Ah...how I enjoyed "Deadly Foes of Spider-Man"....:(

If I were gathering Spider-man's deadliest, here's my list:

    -Chameleon
    -Venom (Gargan or Eddie)
-Electro (not even up for debate)
    -Vulture
    -Sandman
-Hydroman (also a member of the "Sinister Syndcate" from "Deadly foes")
    -Shocker (Deadly foes)
-Lizard (even thogh this isn't his type of deal)
    -Rhino (Deadly foes)

Another thing to consider is that, after MKSM 1-12, Chameleon has more of a working relationship with alot of villians, thanks to Norman organizing them. This could have given him enough connections to organize this campaign.

Also, they don't say how many of the foes there are....so who knows how many there will be?

Either way, this sounds like a very fun atory arc...

If that is Chameleon's logic, then he's not being very smart. All the best villains are not easy to manipulate. Not anymore anyways.

I could put up with a little disrespect from Ock and Electro if it meant Spider-Man goes down.

An almost perfect list shin ;)

I'm not sure anyone respects Chameleon enough to follow his lead let alone Spidey's "Most Dangerous" rogues......which gives me a crazy idea....Chameleon has a history of "identity crisis"....any chance he's rounding up all these deadly foes by becoming them?

...hey I said it was a stupid idea!!...you were warned :)

:) My sentiments exactly; I'm a huge fan of the Sinister Six/Seven, so I'd be all for it.

While I agree that someone like Doc Ock would much rather be in the driver seat of any team, I don't think Electro would be as hard about it. Max is more of a team player than most of the villians, and though he can have just as much of any of them, he seems more likely to me to team up with Chameleon if it guaranteed some pounding against Spidey.

    -Chameleon
    -Electro
    -Sandman
    -Mysterio
    -Doc Ock
    -Vulture

If Mysterio and Chameleon teamed up period, that'd make me very happy.

I can only imagine that we're not going to be getting the A-List Spidey villains. I'm sure the Chameleon isn't really the most respected villain among the union.

I have a feeling we're going to see some less tier villains, maybe some familiar faces we haven't seen in a while. Maybe we'll get a surprise thrown in there. I'm really looking forward to this as Chameleon has always been a favorite of mine, especially from the story arc where he had made fake versions of Peter's parents. Great storyline, in my opinion.

Norman pre ASM#122 was a good villain.Resurrected Norman is an over used cardboard cut out of the REAL Green Goblin.

    Forming cults,making clones,messing with Peter's toothpaste,getting Gwen knocked up??

Please.I've more respect for Kraven the Hunter than the resurrected Norman.

Btw,if he invited the likes of Hydro-Man and Boomerang into his little Sinister twelve group, then he's not too good for anybody ;)

Well said. Norman was far better in my eyes when he worked alone. He'd recruit who he needed, use them, and then leave them high and dry. Honestly, the Sinister 12 thing felt more like Norman than anything else he's done since his resurrection. He used them to kill time with Spider-Man, so that he could kill Mary Jane. Then, we got the most anti-climactic battle ever. In fact, it would have been a better ending for MKSM if Ock had killed Norman....not because he was brainwashed, but to remind Spidey of who his number one foe is!

    But I digress...

Norman hasn't made as much impact since he was resurrected as he did up until his "death". He discovered Spider-Man's secret identity, killed his girlfriend, and, in his death, drove Peter's best friend (his own son) completely insane, causing him to take over the mantle of the Green Goblin, and eventually die....causing more grief for our hero.

Since his resurrection he has killed off the clone. That's it. Everything else he's done has been undone, ignored, or retconned away. He had the "gathering of 5", which is no longer mentioned or addressed, he was responsible for the Goblin twins, who haven't appeared since the awful "Sins Remembered", He caused Flash to be brain-damaged and put into a coma, which was later undone....MKSM was the only effective arc, despite the fact that it didn't really acomplish anything (aside from being the only arc in three years to treat MJ as an actual independant character).

Norman being dead is the way to go. He shouldn't be in the movies anymore, so Marvel has no need to keep him "alive for new readers".

    Just me ranting...
