Chaos War

Mikaboshi's been mentioned a lot. Ares, Thor: Blood Oath, all over Incredible Hercules...

Cho's age hasn't changed. He's just dressing more stylishly now since he owns the Olympus Group and is thus filthy rich.

Has he actually been mentioned, or is it just "someone behind the scenes is making all this happen but were never actually going to reveal who until we find an obscure enough character to use"

Cause I sure as **** don't remember anything about Mikaboshi during the Ares mini's or during the earlier part of Incredible Herc (which is "where he came from" according to most)

Dude, Mikaboshi was the guy leading the army who tore up Olympus in Ares. He personally killed Zeus. He kidnapped Alex, gave him Grasscutter, and brainwashed him into fighting his dad, all very much on-panel and visible. He was shown in Blood Oath when Thor went to the Japanese pantheon's dimension. He accompanied Hercules and the God Squad into Skrull territory in the "Sacred Invasion" arc of Incredible Hercules, completely visible and unmysterious. He's also another character adapted from actual myths, so he 'existed' as part of Japanese folklore/mythology as well. He's changed his name to the Chaos King for this, but that's about it. Still the same ol' Mikaboshi. He's not like an A-lister plastered all over more than Wolverine or anything, but he's been around. Chaos War is what several bits of iHerc and Prince of Power have built up to.

Which Ares are we talking about?

Cause I'm talking about the badass one where he's guzzling beer shooting at his squad with a minigun.

Oh, no, that's Dark Avengers: Ares. I'm talking about the '06 mini where Mike Oeming totally redefined Ares into the modern version that went on to join the Mighty and then Dark Avengers afterward. The mini that introduced Ares' son Alex, destroyed Olympus, killed Zeus, and introduced Mikaboshi as a major powerhouse villain.

Yeah I gotta say he's a legit god as far as myths go, so technically he's got like thousands of years of history there. Then in the comics he did destroy Olympus, kill zeus and later went on to destroy and take over the skrull gods effectively destroying their power structure. So you've got the history as a mythological figure along with the fact that along with the idea that in the comics he's destroyed an entire pantheonon already established as well as played one of the major roles in Secret Invasion. I think that's enough that he qualifies as a legit threat and one that's been previously established for long enough. I mean he's not like Onslaught or something.

No. Onslaught was pretty much a product of the 90's in every way. And Marvel won't let him just stay gone. :p

His backstory made no sense. He had muscles with no sign of proportion, shoulder-pads, spikes, and armor. He could do anything the story demanded. He existed for one large fight. The only character worse was WONDER WOMAN's Genocide, who had spikes for eyes.

Right so Mity is completely different. He wasn't something created just to give the heroes someone tough to fight with no real backstory or purpose.

The Chaos King idea even plays off of his mythological function. He was the chaotic vacuum that existed before anything else in the universe. So he's effectively a total nihilist. It's kind of like the Annihilation Wave, only instead of wanting to kill everything in the universe because it's encroaching on the Negative Zone, Mikaboshi wants to erase everything from existence because all that crap is ruining his perfectly good vacuum.

He just can't stand the idea of another season of american idol. Actually come to think of it maybe he's really a misunderstood hero.

Exactly, and I feel for him. I haven't caught up on Chaos War yet, is Mity using all those alien gods he now commands as well as the earthly ones? Because that could have some interesting moments.

We don't see a lot of Mikaboshi in Chaos War #1, but he does conquer Nightmare's realm with the help of those slave gods. It seems whenever he takes over a realm, he can use it to his advantage, as you might've guessed with the mortal heroes all having mysteriously fallen into a deep sleep in that preview. Herc or Thor or someone surmises that Mikaboshi has them in his thrall since he's now technically ruler of the dreamscape or whatever it's called at Marvel.

That's pretty cool. I need to go shopping soon, there just hasn't been too much incentive recently. But this should fit. Plus I could use my SS fix.

He's not in the issue. He shows up later, when Herc and Thor assemble a new God Squad.

Not to mention Sersi. I love Sersi. She's wearing that hot, slinky number from Gaiman and JR Jr.'s Eternals mini, too, not the ugly costume Acuna designed for the short-lived ongoing afterward. Now if only we could get the Black Knight involved somehow... :awesome:

Black Knight is happy with Faiza. :o

Doesn't mean he can't kill evil gods with his ex. It's totally innocent. :o

It is not and you know better. Killing evil gods with your ex inevitably leads to children. Everyone knows that. Just try to kill evil gods with your ex and not have sex. I dare you.

I'll have you know I killed evil gods with my ex just last week and we managed to stop at heavy petting. :o

You lie! And in nine months you're gonna be paying child support. I can picture it now, little baby corps running around dressed up as mini thors.

Are Ares and Blood Oath in TBP because I want to get the background on Marvel's Mikaboshi before I read Chaos War?

I'm curious why Galactus gives any sort of concern to the fate of gods. He's above the gods of measly worlds or universes. What, he fears he'll be next on Mikaboshi's hit list?

I dont know if anyone covered this on a previous post... However Galactus has a interest in this because Mikaboshi has basically been reconned into the embodiment of the darkness that the universe comes from. That means before Eternity, there was the Chaos King. It also means he was the being Galactus was floating in after the collapse of his universe. Thus Mikaboshi actually predates Galactus. In fact he could be the very reason Galens universe died as a demon used the Mmkran crystals to cause the radiation cancer. Like a cycle of life. In a sense, he's the end AND begining of the Universe.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! It's funny because it's true.
