Chapter 22 - "Landslide" - Discussion Thread 5/14/07

OMFG!!

That looks awesome!

It's nice to see DL do something for once. :p

and Hiro's dad...... well I'm speechless.

I do however know a group of animators that's going to scream in excitement and unison come this monday night. :D

Oh god, those new clips look terrible :down
I could just see the future of this show...Sylar's dad has powers, Claire's grandmother has powers, Niki's dad has powers, DL's mom has powers,...it'll never end. Everyones mom and dad has powers in this show ...

If the powers are genetic, it makes sense many of the Heroes' families would have powers.

Okay so powers are genetic...but every superpowered person just "happens" to meet another superpowered individual then have superpowered babies
Oh and every superpowered mom or dad dont tell their kids they have superpowers(even though their kids do) until their children are like 25+ years old.
Its kind of ridiculous...I thought these superpowers were rare and now its becoming more of an annoyance. It looks like the show cant be creative so they just give every main charecter's family members superpowers. Its just really funny how every superpowered person is related to each other somehow. Just about every charecter they introduced on the show has superpowers...except Mohinder and HRG, and who knows they might be getting some soon too.
Overall the superpowered relatives thing is becoming so generic in this show...its making the show more predictable,

Claires grandmother does have powers
:csad: See what I mean, it was obvious.

Wasn't there some report bout her having some powers that were like someone elses on the show? :ninja:

yea they said she had a power that was similar but didnt take as much effort.

i think its teleportation cuz hiro has that but he has to make sure he doesnt end up in another time, so it takes more effort

plus when she said she wanted claire to go to paris that she would "take her there herself"

Well, it probably seems like an annoyance to you now, but that's because they're not giving it a lot of background/details- for good reason. You do know that next season is entitled "Generations" and will specifically focus on the heritage of these super-powered families, right? As in, why they have powers, why they hid them, and what they've been doing with them, as you've seen with the little hints from Mama Petrelli. And on that note, yes, you "thought" that the powers were rare. That's what they wanted you to think. But as a part of DRAMA and PLOT they have proven otherwise. Besides, just how many "super-powered parents" have been revealed in the story? You seem to be recalling a lot, maybe you could refresh me; I only know of DL/Nikki at this point. The other parents are just "involved" in things at this point, not quite flat-out superhuman, except for the implicit comments made by the creators. Yes, I'm sure the talented writers of this show, who have made it a phenomenon among comic book fans and average TV viewers alike, have used up their well of creativity and decided to cop out, right around the season finale in May sweeps. Good thinking.

Again, how "superpowered relatives" is making the show more predictable I'm not quite sure. I was fairly surprised when Keito Nakamura was on the DeVeaux building. I was also very surprised when the Haitian was with Mama Petrelli. What has become predictable for you? Did those moments in the show not surprise you at all? If not Detective, maybe you show go onto a show that's more challenging for your superior story-telling taste; perhaps Lost?

theres been:
DL Sanders
Niki Sanders
Claire's mom (pyrokinetic)
Nathan
Hiro's dad

They also introduced a few more "parents" just not superpowered. Its predictable because everytime the show is going to introduce a charecter Im always think, oh its someones mom or dad.
If season 2 is about this family pedigree I dont think Im really interested, Ive had enough in season 1 as it is...and I dont like lost :csad:
Im not trying to hate on this show, this is the only tv show I watch regularly and has been my favorite show temporarily but I feel that after the 12th episode the show kind of lost its magic

Well, we don't know for sure Hiro's dad has powers, but I'll go ahead and agree with you that he probably will. Sorry to hear that you don't like where they're going; I'm gonna stick to it. :woot:

I totally agree. I've always thought Heroes was a little imbalanced due to the fact that there are so many superheroes and not enough "normal" main characters. Now that Simone and her dad are rumoured to be Heroes, Nathan and Peter's parents, Hiro's dad, etc. that only leaves us with Suresh and Ando. It just seems a little too unbelievable. It would be nice to see a couple of examples where people have a brother or something that didn't get the gene. Cause you're right, they're really overusing a plot point and it got very tired very quickly.

First of all the show is about ordinary ppl with extraordinary abilities so the fact that most main character have powers.... Yea no surprise there.

Second "but every superpowered person just "happens" to meet another superpowered individual then have superpowered babies "

Umm Besides The Peterelli's i don't see where that's happening.

I thought it was made clear from the previews that Micah was planned by Linderman. < Highlight.

For all we know Hiro's dad could of also planned his marriage in order to have super powered offspring. On another note Hiro's sister hasn't been shown to have powers.

but the idea of a hereditary mutation, I don't see how that affects the show. That's just me though. :)

as for everyone being related? Really are Hiro and Peter long lost brothers?

Sylar and Mohinder?

Matt and Ted?

Nikki and Issac?

There are only two major families on the show don't blow it out of proportion.

My theory is that some of these offsprings with two mutant parents is absolutley no coincidence. On the other hand someone like Hiro's dad may have had a normal wife so less of chance of having mutant off spring so Hiro's sister my not necessarily be a Hero.

well...i don't like the sound of this:

from comicbookresources.com http://www.comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=10537

Pasdar posited a theory of his own, that Linderman might be more to Nathan than just a political ally. "I think from what I understand, and I think I can say this, I knew your father quite well," McDowell said.

"I understood he knew him maybe a lot better than we might imagine," Pasdar suggested, coyly.

But what Pasdar was getting at is that Linderman may have sired the Petrelli brothers.

hopefully, that's just a cast member's theory and nothing more.

also interesting is that the Linderman/Petrelli group is called the Numerati by Kring.

Just a few more mintues till this episode, I can't wait!

HIRO!!

do not miss this episode
Its utterly amazing
Not as amazing as Five Years Gone
But still pretty friggin sweet

and just because I gotta write it somewhere before I go mad
THEY FREAKING KILLED TED, DL, AND LINDERMAN OMG WTF!!!!

Do you hear that?
That is my mind exploding
Why is Monday a week away?

lindermans power is probably granting people what they want most. when he touched nathans wife i think he gave her the ability to move again.
