Chapter 52 - 'Exposed" Discussion Thread 3/2/09

The show lost its impact long ago. :csad:

How does Peter having one power make the show bad?

Sylar. That's why. Peter gets s--t stories because they "can't write a person with many powers"...and Sylar continues to exist as the top of the heap when he should have died in season one finale. That's the only way Peter with one power at a time could be a good thing.

By the way...How the hell does Danko's plan make any sense? Matt blows up DC. Okay, that is fine and good...but then what? Some average white guy blowing up DC makes the public get behind mass detainment of US citizens? He wants to show the US that the super powered people are freaks...but there is a crucial flaw. NO ONE KNOWS THEY EXIST! He blows up DC and then expects the government to go on TV and say, "By the way...this was a psychic super hero and that is why we are rounding these people up,"? It is kind of a dumb plan. Showing the public someone using their power would be far more effective as people fear what they don't understand. A domestic terrorist blowing something up isn't going to justify what he is doing. No one was behind drugging and detaining US citizens without cause following the Oklahoma City bombing...why would this be different? Bad writing FTW!

He shouldn't have even necessarily died...but they should've benched him for a few volumes. Imagine if we hadn't seen Sylar since the season 1 finale...and the first episode ended, with instead of a plane crashing, Claire pulling the mask off a prisoner to reveal the face of Sylar. Imagine how much more effective it would've been. Imagine the shock. I mean, wasn't the whole point of this volume that enemies would have to unite against a common enemy? That's what we were sold on, but have we seen it yet? Nope.

And yet we're all still tuning in. :D

Not quite. I watch 24. I Hulu it during my daughter's nap or from my office on a slow night at the bar when I am bored.

Well. Death on this show wouldn't probably hold even if they didn't go into the s--t territory with the second and third volumes. So death = benched. Like bringing Isaac back in volume three... aka, MORE COMICS!

But we still watch it, period...cuz we're addicted somehow.

And you do make a good point about the Hunter's plan...best thing would have been for him to draw them out in public and force them to use their powers destructively somehow...

Almost like an explosion in New York......

No but how is MATT, the telepath, going to use his POWERS to blow up New York?...it wouldn't be because of his abilities, it would be due to the explosives, right? So people would just think some nut with TNT blew up dt.

If he went on a telepathic rampage in full view of the public, that would be a different story. Or if we had another Ted blowing up with radioactivity...etc.

I know. I'm just pointing out that they could have skipped the crap... and went to this fugitives storyline right from the finale of season one. It would have made much more sense and would have been politically relevant to the times.

True. I still liked the "Villains" concept tho, but it wasn't explored to the extent that I would have liked. And Season 2...I can't even remember what happened in season 2.

Where do you see things going after "Fugitives"?

Most likely they will go into a storyline about how America shouldn't continue to stay in Vietnam because that war has gone on for way too long.

I watch it becaus I have nothing better to do on Monday night at 8 pm:o If something better came up...I wouldn't be watching this. But if Matt and Nathan die unexpectedly then I will be willing to tune back in. Otherwise, I can predict the end of this season and that is probably what will happen.

Me personally I still tune in because I actually enjoy the show. When I watch Heroes I just want to be entertained and It accomplishes that for me. While I agree with most that it hasnt been at season 1 level greatness since well season 1 I still enjoy it and dont analyze and nitpick about every single little thing wrong with the show. I have alot better things to occupy my mind with than the bad writing on Heroes, like whats gonna happen on LOST tonite

I enjoy the show. I post in response to some of the nit-picking on here, but I enjoy theorizing and predicting what might happen on the show. To say that the writing is downright horrible and that the characters all suck is not true imo--why would anyone subject themselves to watching that kind of crap, even if there was nothing better on? Meh. I look forward to each week's episode with enough enthusiasm to call myself a fan. Yes, I criticize at times (ahem Claire), but overall I'm happy with it.

And not sure where most of you are but in Canada (Ontario), Monday nights are usually the best for TV--there's definitely something else that I could be watching if I really disliked or was so disappointed in Heroes.

I like the show too. I still get excited to watch it.
I do question the motives of the guy strapping a bomb to him though...how will they know he's got powers and not just a regular joe? hmm

I agree. If they left Sylar alone for atleast a volume and a half, and return out of the Blue, build on Nightmare Man season 2, volume 3 have Adam revealed as the "Palpatine", then bring back Sylar for 4. It would have been much, much better.

Also...Claire should die. Her, Peter, Parkman. They should all die. In fact heroes should start completely over with a new cast.

A new family dynasty with cool powers, new bad guys, the works.

The only person who needs to stay is Angela cuz she's awesome. Everyone else can get the boot.

I have no problems with the original cast--I actually prefer the story lines following the development of only a small group of characters, rather than adding random new people every season that are then discarded in some meaningless way.

They should take Nathan's character in a different direction. Take him out of the political scene, make him less of a tool/puppet. See him humbled a little bit.

I think Sylar is the worst character on the show right now. He has literally run dry of everything he could possibly do(villain, hero, villain, mamas boy, brother, dadys boy, hero, ect ect) He is boring and his scenes are almost laughable. He is overpowered which is part of why he is so boring(a team of agents can take down everyone but him...even tho he gets shot 10 times) What they did with Peter was the best they could do, so what if its inconsistent. All they have to say is that the formula is not perfect and will 98% of the time give you your old powers back but sometimes give you a different power.

(a team of agents can take down everyone but him...even tho he gets shot 10 times)

That's because of rabid fanboyism of Sylar in the Heroes writing room... which is why he's the only multi-powered person left.

Meh, I only care for Sylar, Peter and Parkman. I could care less about every other character at this point. Bring in a bunch of new blood across the globe I say next volume.

I wouldn't mind if all of them died to be honest. Long as they keep Daphne she's hot and her power is beyond awesome. Everyone else is melodramatic and stupid.
