Chapter 53 - "Shades of Gray" Discussion Thread 3/9/09

Yeah but I don't think she would survive being crushed to death from the collapsing building. Also didn't Sylar kill the puppet guy last volume?

Then how is he able to use his powers drugged up when no one else can?

What makes you think Micah's still using his powers?

Yeah but I don't think she would survive being crushed to death from the collapsing building. Also didn't Sylar kill the puppet guy last volume?

Nope. Unless Sylar slices your head open, there's a high chance you survived.

I am intrigued with just about anything involving Angela. She really should get some more exposure on this show. I also enjoy Peter when they are not writing him like a child. I am totally indifferent to Hiro and Ando honestly. They have so much potential with Claire but they never use it to their advantage. I hate when some actresses are just kept in the show to be the hot girl everyone loves especially if they seem to have the ability to be more than that.

I used to enjoy the Hiro/Ando combo but lately it's been growing tiresome. They need to get a new spiel...the "follow my destiny/be an honourable hero" thing needs to go. Something should happen to give them both different motivations, especially Hiro.

Angela has always been tops for me, along with HRG. In a lot of ways I think they are very similar in nature.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from, Mdizzle.
I enjoy Angela's scenes a lot more now than I used to.
And the opposite is true about Hiro and Ando. Though, it seems most people dislike them more than I do.
They started off on kind of a good path this season (minus Hiro losing the formula cause he was bored, that was not cool, and kind of out of character, honestly.), but rather with the rift that came between them near the beginning with Hiro seeing Ando zap the hell out of him in the future. Them not trusting each other was interesting, one of many cool plot-points from earlier this season that just fell by the wayside, to become painfully irrelevant...

I liked the distrust developing between the two of them as well. They've always been joined at the hip, and I think them being at odds with each other would allow them to become stronger characters, independent of each other. I appreciated seeing Future Hiro from a couple seasons back, where he had a more hardened, world-weary personality--not so naive as he is now. Perhaps some discord between the dynamic duo would facilitate Hiro's transition into that character.

Attacking and harrassing another poster, even a moderator is forbidden. Last chance Carnut.

Is this how you plan on "winning" every argument where someone points out the [true] fact that you are being obnoxious? Are you so weak-minded, that you'll call that an "attack"?

I hope you are not a cop in real life.

I also find it ironic that this is your closing "defense", when you yourself stated:

Luckily this is a public message board and I am able to say whatever the hell I'd like about this show. If you don't like it, perhaps you should leave...or at least employ your ignore button.

FYI: Members cannot put mods on ignore.

And don't worry, I went ahead, and self-reported this post, so that in case you power-trip, at least another mod can see how you go about justifying being obnoxious on these boards.

If you could put all this energy into talking about the show that you're mad that Matt is mad at, imagine the amazing conversational possibilities.

You missed the most obvious one: Papa Sylar was about to use a knife to slice Sonny's head open, when he clearly knows how to use TK as a noggin-opener, since he did the same to Mama Sylar, inspiring Sonny's methods.

I guess they can explain it as Papa Sylar's TK being so weak that it is unable to slice through the hardest bone in the human body, but still.

When Papa Sylar stops the rabbit from running...

Sylar: You have an ability.

Papa Sylar: Got lots of them. Don’t know what I got left. (coughing and breathing through his oxygen mask) Been years since I used them or taken them.
(Note: Not 100% sure what he said after "been years since I used them", couldn’t really make it out the last couple of words)

Maybe slicing heads open is one he doesn't have left.

Wow somebody needs to chill, all this because someone constantly sees major problems with a show that a majority agrees is on the decline. From all your posts here all you have been doing is rambling about how Matt does this and how he does that you need to **** and relax.

And back on topic, this episode was enjoyable in fact its one of the most enjoyable episodes I have watched this volume. I hope the show can get itself together and be that great show we all saw in season 1.

I usually just sit back and read about people's reactions to the episode. Trust me, I have PLENTY of gripes about the show, but I choose to take the show at face value. It's one thing to read gripes about the episode, but Matt usually chimes in with ancient gripes that a lot of times aren't even about the episode being discussed about. I just get tired of it. Besides the fact that he's NEVER acted like he even liked the show. He keeps hearkening back memories of Season One, yet even then, all he had was gripes--that was before he was even a mod.

Go ahead. Find me a post by him that's ONLY positive, or a specific discussion about what happened in the episode, as opposed to what he projects SHOULD have happened.

I have NEVER posted in the gripes thread. I only read it once, when I first saw it. I already know what's in it, and more than likely agree with a few points in there. But why waste my time? If I can only ignore a mod, life would be so much better, but I can't.

Hmm.. let's see what was said just one page back.

And that is what is really keeping me hooked, the Angela/Nathan/Noah/Danko plot. Especially the questions surrounding the allegiances of Angela, Nathan, and Noah. Angela has really come into her own this volume.

:o

That was done AFTER I called him out. Try again.

Yes, cause your influence is so grand. Just relax, man, you're so crazy over something so stupid. You may not be able to click Ignore on him, but you do have control over yourself to ignore him if it bothers you so much.

It sure looked like he killed him. Sylar cut something internal and made him bleed from the nose then fell over. Then Primatech burned down.

Yeah. Maybe the fact that I did have him on ignore before, then they "modded" him--of THIS forum, no less--makes the situation a tad more annoying to me than it should be.

dude u need to relax... its just a Internet forum.... you get know trophy or award or pat on the back for winning a pointless arguement :o

Its understandable where carrrnuttt is coming from though, Matt is really annoying.

Sorry, guys, don't mean to interrupt anything by talking about Heroes here, but...
I definitely see where you're coming from, badboy00z, the first time I saw that, I figured he was dead.
But we're also not exactly sure what Sylar did to Doyle with his TK.
His neck didn't snap or anything, his nose bled and he fell over.
So it's possible Sylar just applied his TK force in a way almost like just punching Doyle in the nose, but not hard enough to break it and hit him in the brain and kill him.
Perhaps he just gave him that nosebleed...
Haha, I know I'm reaching, I just mean it's kind of vague what's even happening there.
Sure, it seems like he dies, but....come on. It's Heroes. :)

All Sylar had to do was apply enough pressure to the brain to cause trauma, just as the pressure of impacting your skull knocks you out when you get hit violently enough on the head.

Either Sylar didn't apply enough pressure to kill on purpose (obviously he did enough to knock him unconscious), or he thought he did, but really didn't, since he was being controlled by Doyle at the time, and was unable to use his "focus gesture" or whatever you want to call it.

It makes me feel better that what needs to be said, was said. It doesn't matter to me who does it--it was just apparent that no one else was going to.

I remember when Sylar did that to Doyle I figured he was still alive. I thought all he did was knock him out to break Doyles hold on him

Yea, I never thought Sylar killed Doyle at all, just knocked him out cold.

How come none of what Sylar does ever makes any sense?
