The Mandalorian Chapter Eight Spoiler Thread (Season 1 Finale)

Bo Kotan is useless and clearly was a bad leader. Did Sabine not care about the purge at all? Seems like that would be a traumatizing devastating event for her.
It would depend on where Sabine was/is. Her mission at the end of Rebels was to find Ezra, and she is with a Jedi. Or not a Jedi... whatever. But either way, they are gone.

Also I just realized the Armorer either can't be someone who has met Obi-Wan or is just a really good liar. Also, shouldn't most Mandos know the Jedi exist? The Clone Wars happened. The Siege of Mandalore happened. We will finally get to see it soon. :mrk:

Well they even had a member of Clan Vizsla. Heavy Infantry Mando was Paz Vizsla.

There could be an explanation here, but I the Lucasfilm brass needs to clarify all this. IE Stormtroopers are enlisted men and not clones.

Also the helmets. We saw the animated Mandos taking off their helmets all the time. Based on Din's description, it's a creed that existed pre-Purge.
It definitely has plenty of contradictions. I guess we will have to wait and see. There has been a lot of "official" info, that clashes here.

OK but that ending for Rebels would've had to have been AFTER the purge. We can likely assume that Rebels finale PRE-epilogue was pre-Purge because Bo Katan still had the Dark Saber. Mandalore was technically free from the Empire's grip at that time and had united against them. You think Sabine might've mentioned "Yeah Lothal is good and everything turned out OK, except my planet got wiped, my people were shattered and scattered to the winds, and we've gone into hiding."

The thing is, the entire point of the finale was to sideline Sabine and Ezra. They are gone from the OT on purpose. Maybe Sabine didn't know. Or perhaps it wasn't the main thing on her mind, when the last five minutes of Rebels was specifically about her and her undying love for the Ghost crew, especially space Aladdin.

Either way I don’t think it’s a big “gotcha” moment when Dave Filoni worked on both series and this season was incredibly vague with its world building. We can’t even say as of yet when the Purge was or to what extent it applied to the rest of Mandalorian space outside of Mandalore.

They could've done a better job of sidelining Ahsoka, considering that epilogue means she sat out most of the Galactic Civil War. But I recall we're in agreement that Ahsoka should've stayed dead.

We don't agree on everything Vile, but this is definitely one we agree on.

Loved the scout troopers, it was nice to see the bikes up close.
Mando got a gear upgrade.
Sweet TIE action.
IG-11 went full Uncle Bob at the end.

Amazing finale!

The TIE Fighter vs. Mando sequence was one of the coolest things I've seen in Star Wars and the cinematography overall was stunning for a TV Show. It had that realistic feeling of RO, where the camera seemed actually attached to the TIE Fighter.

Also, Giancarlo with a Darksaber = WIN.

Gideon brings me Krennic vibes of being a serious prick and I am glad they left him alive for S2.

Can't wait!

I have no idea what you guys are talking about....but the finale was good!
A bunch of stuff from the cartoons, which can mostly be ignored, they have Mandos constantly taking off their helmets, and the Mando not a race but a creed way of recruiting, mostly makes that canon obsolete.
The only significant take away is the cartoon introduced the "Dark Saber" which Gideon is wielding in the final scene.
You can just assume he took it from them at some point, it's pretty much a Light Saber taken up to "11", which is silly to begin with.
Still it looks bad ass which is the point.:funny:

I'm glad when the helmet came off, he actually looked wrecked, and not the coiffed look Kylo had.

Greef Carga was hysterical, he had al the "Super Friends" Saturday morning cartoon lines, usually ascribed to Robin, just stating out-loud what everyone already sees and knows. LOL! ..Look there is the river, of lava! ... I think that's the opening! That's a TIE Fighter!
Although his best line was to the Yoby "Do the hand thing".......then "well, ....I'm out of ideas":funny:
Greef go back to the bar, you're drunk!:D Loved that he was just drinking and eating as they were trapped.

As I haven't seen CW/Rebels in a long time, can someone please remind me on what happened and what the deal was with the Purge, Darksaber history, Mandalore etc. etc?

I remember stuff happening with Maul and Mandalore being involved, as well as Sabine having the Darksaber, but everything seems blurry now.

Thank you so much!

Man, I hope the Obi-Wan series is just as good. I’m all for more Star Wars mini-series if the quality is Mando quality.

This is the way, Disney.

That was a good finale. Not a lot of plot but good action. Moff was underwhelming. Was kind of disappointed about what happened to him.

So chapter 2 will be the quest to find the Yoby's home planet.
Honestly hope he never finds it, and it remains a mystery.
He has to make the Yoby one of his own, as per his cigal, recruited the into his tribe :cwink:

Great finale to tie up the season. I'm so glad this show exists after being so thoroughly disappointed in the sequel trilogy to the Saga.

Taika did a great job infusing his style when it fit, but continued the general tone of the show overall. Sad to see a couple of great characters go in the last two episodes but things are looking really good for the second season. The Darksaber was a really unexpected twist at the end and I can't wait to see how that plays into the story around the Mandalorians.

Mandalore is a planetary system. Some cultural contradictions, different histories, opposing philosophies is to be expected.

I thought it was BY causing the troopers to miss lol

completely went over my head that scene

great finale

God this finale kicked all kinds of ass. Takia ****ing killed it IMO, but I knew we were in for something special after that hilarious opening scene with the Scout Troopers which was completely unexpected, but was so Takia. Loved the direction in this episode and how all the action sequences were handled and I was a bit surprised at how relentless this episode was. The TIE Fighter sequence might honestly be one of the most badass and creative things I ever seen in any Star Wars live action stuff and I am so glad that they didn't kill off Giancarlo.

The Dark Sabre reveal at the end was pretty dope too. Season 2 has potential to be even more awesome and I can't ****ing wait for it.

I thought it was a good finale. IMO a lot of it was predictable but there were a few pleasant surprises, like the reveal of the Mando's name and the Child staying with him in the end. I had really thought they would have parted ways by the end of the season but I'm glad they're going to continue the lone wolf and cub narrative. Really excited to see where they go with season two but what I'm most curious to see is if this show will be the one to finally reveal the name of Yoda's species and homeworld. It's been a mystery for so long, even in the EU canon before Disney took over.
