Cheerios commercial's racist backlash

Are interracial couple commercials rare in the U.S or something?
Not rare but they are uncommon. They are becoming more frequent though. Maybe in another generation or so these kinds of commercials will draw less attention than they do now. Unfortunately there will always be racists so there will still be some comments.

No, but there is still a segment of American society that unfortunately is still stuck in the 1950's and want America to be a nice little white, Christian society, where things like Muslims, gays, and interracial relationships don't exist, and minorities and women are subservient to white men.

I knew there was a reason I loved Cheerios.

Now if only Lucky Charms had a commercial with a gay couple.

Lucky Charms is already the second gayest cereal, it doesn't need marketing to gay it up even more.

In answer to your followup question: Golden Grahams.

Guessing this is a slow news day, because I could scour YouTube for ten minutes and find worse. Seriously, look up almost any video pertaining to the Jewish faith, I have no doubts there's Hitler/Nazi/South Park jokes somewhere in there.

I'm not sure why nasty YouTube comments are newsworthy.

Yahoo and YouTube have the most vile commenters on the internet.

I thought it was actually a cute commercial. Usually I detest commercials.

Racist comments on Youtube?! Way to keep your fingers on the pulse of the internet community, Huffington Post.

I have two mixed race cousins (Vietnamese and White), but it's not really a big deal at all in my family and one of them recently married, which would make her offspring 1/4th Vietnamese.

More so than Trix? Ehhh... :o

That's what I was thinking. It must have been a really slow news day.

And why no news on Yahoo comments? I think they're actually much worse, especially since they stopped censoring posts.

Some Yahoo comments are seriously terrifying. Like, I never want to be anywhere near those people.

It's obvious that this is tearing apart the fabric of American society.
It's snuck by us very stealthily, since our own president's parents look like that. :wow:

Cause it's a cute commercial involving a little girl? :funny:

I'd argue that yahoo comments are worst on the internet. Yeah, there are racist comments on Youtube videos but Yahoo users always manage to turn almost every news article into a racist rants and worse enough, those racist rants often turn into the most thumbs up comments.

It's one of the reasons I've managed to stop going to page and it stopped being my homepage.

Probably, but the author makes it sound like they've never read Youtube comments before.

I'm ready to make a law with Youtube similar to Godwin's law. Any time there's a black person (or a mixed person) in a Youtube video, there's always some *****ebag that a mention of the N-word in the comments. It's hard to find a video with at least 100 comments without one.

If people think this is bad, look up any boxing or MMA match with a black fighter going up against a caucasian fighter and see the racism flow from both sides.

The writer of that article would've had a heart attack if they'd read any of the Youtube comments for that Old El Paso commercial with the "Why don't we have both?" girl.

I've turned some Trix in my time....

Seriously. I turned the bowl over in my hand and it spilled everywhere. What a mess. :o

Wasn't there some big deal made with a Kraft cream cheese commercial too?

Mostly morons post comments on YouTube so its not a surprise.

Most of those racist knuckle daggers wouldn't have the balls to say the stuff they post in real life or to peoples of colours face. Typical internet cowardly racists.

Extremely rare that was another reason i dug the justice league cartoon Pairing John Stewart and Hawkgirl besides the Legion of hawkman fans must have cheesed some of the good ole boys off!:cwink:

 i like captain crunch peanut butter but now i am going to buy a *&^)load of Cheerios! Hahahahah
Unfortunately that youtube crap is still too real in 2013! My girl is white and i have had to show some people that this nerd will stuff your ass in a cheerio box come at me with that crap!really i want us all to have a coke and smile and get along!some people I guess dont like coke or cheerios!hehe

It really is a shame that, regardless of whatever progress has been made over the years, we still live in an age where videos like this get the N-word thrown at it and some uptight, vinegar-faced housewife that belongs to "One Million Moms" can openly behave as though a film/television show/advertisement that merely acknowledges that homosexuality exists is tantamount to kidnapping one of their children, strapping them down and forcing them to watch two members of the same sex go at it.

****ing ridiculous.

It's okay to criticize white Christians constantly because that's the cool pc thing to do but traditional Muslims aren't exactly gay friendly.

Anyone know why racist are completely against people with different skin colors inter-mixing but completely support various white ethnicities from inter-mixing?

I mean doesn't a Irish person and Russian person having a kid "ruin" the genetic and cultural legacy just as much as a French person and a black Jamaican person having kids?

Wow, it turns out that racism doesn't make any sense.

What a shocker. :whatever:

Because they're indicative of problems in our society that people don't talk about enough. It's not saying "Oh my God, did you know that a lot of youtube comments are racist?!?!" It's saying "Seriously guys, look at this, we need to fix this **** now."

No, because white Christians are the dominant group in our culture and the vast majority of racist ****heads in the US want them to remain culturally dominant and that's the primary problem we've got to deal with right now.

Yeah, a lot of super conservative Muslims are homophobic. But they're not the ones paying for "family values initiatives" and lobbyists in Washington.
