Cheerios commercial's racist backlash

I may be treading on dangerous territory here, but we all seem to be assuming that the racist backlash against this commercial is solely coming from racist white people. That may not be the case.

Do you feel like counting the comment post with N-words cause I think you'll have to free up your schedule for the next week.

I have an app that already does that. I calibrated it by watching every routine by Chris Rock, Katt Williams and Eddie Griffin. :oldrazz:

Pink Ranger's right. This is a commercial featuring a black man married to a white woman. There's probably an army of angry black women who hate it more passionately than the KKK.

So true. It probably "burns their soul". :lmao:

You need a simple update that screens out N-words ending with an "A".

White supremacists don't use that one. It lacks bite. :yay:

Are you kidding? That's going to take another four months of coding, and another six to beta test!

Historically, angry black women give an icy, stern look at black men in interracial relationships and the KKK lynches/castrates them.

Apples and oranges. :o

Yeah, where's Jill Scott stating how watching that commercial is like a knife in her gut? :whatever:

Do what I did and snag you an asian chick. Then only a few white guys and black chicks will be pissed.

I mean doesn't a Irish person and Russian person having a kid "ruin" the genetic and cultural legacy just as much as a French person and a black Jamaican person having kids?

Maybe this will answer your question.

To most people, white is white. I'm not even trying to be a smart ass, but that is how it's viewed in a lot of instances.

BTW, I doubt that the 'most people' terry is referring to are white. So I guess that makes it ok.

I think there is issues within several groups when you are dating someone of the same "ethnicity". Lighter skin vs. dark skin.

Lol, that's true. I'm of Hong Kong Chinese descent, and in the unlikely event I ever bring a woman to meet my mother, she would generally be accepting of any type of person EXCEPT if she was from the People's Republic of China, or "mainland China" is it is derisively referred to by Chinese people from other countries. :funny:

Also I think being of darker skinned in Asian countries, a lot of times, it means you are a lower class (working in the fields).

I'm of mainland Chinese descent, but my grandparents fled that place back when the Communists took over in the 50s and both my parents were born in Taiwan.

Something tells me your mother would be fine with that. :cwink: The ethnicity and politics can get pretty dicey...

So you don't get any salty looks from Asian guys or angry tiger moms?
My white husband still gets salty looks at the Asian supermarket, and he might as well be Asian for how nerdy he looks! :funny:

In India they have Bollywood stars doing skin whitening commercials.

One day, I'm going to test the limits of her patience. Pre-operative Thai-ladyboy-Republican drag-queen-Muslim human-roomba Vanessa-Redgrave-impersonators here I come! :awesome:

When I first saw the commercial I hardly gave it a thought about it being an interracial couple. I was concerned about the little girls hair though. Something needs to be done, seriously.

Isn't that an issue for white mothers with children who have black hair?
