Chris Benoit Biopic

I won't be seeing this simply because it isn't an interesting story. He was just a normal wrestler. He didn't do anything special enough throughout his career to warrant a movie. He is a normal wrestler who had a shocking and terrible ending. Sounds like a 1 hour long investigative story on A and E or some other channel. Not a 2 hour movie.

This is untrue. Daniel was suffocated.

O really. Well I heard it in the news report that Benoit used the crippler cross face to kill his son. The police reports said something about his neck being broken or something so some people thought Benoit used the cross face to kill his son. I guess that was just a rumor.

I am 24 and I still watch WWE to this day but only Monday Night Raw. I will admit the storylines and characters aren't as good as the 90's and early 2000's. The only cool momment was when CM Punk the current champ did some fourth wall breaking and talked about what really happens behind the scenes in WWE.

Currently, there are two wrestlers I know that recently got suspended for violating the WWE wellness policy. R Truth and Evan Bourne both smoked pot together back stage and both are suspended for 30 days.

Anyway, a Chris Benoit bio pic is defintely iffy. I think it should be a tv special or a straight to DVD feature. It's not worth a theatrical run. They will have a hard time getting this done though once Vince McMahon catches wind of it. In reality, Benoit doesn't deserve a bio pic he was a okay wrestler but what he did to his family was just disturbing.

^ does the iceman deserve a movie he was a mob hitman for god sakes

did jefferey dahmer deserter a biopic he was a serial killer who ate people

Well as disturbing as Dahmer and the Iceman are at least those stories are somewhat interesting. This is a story about a just a normal wrestler who had a really disturbing few days. It won't ever get made.

benoit was far from normal what we saw on TV is not what was really there obviously

tom hardy is far too good looking to play benoit lol

But he's also a good and dedicated enough actor to "ugly" himself up a little bit for it. I mean, look at Charlize Theron in Monster. Beautiful people can be ugly.

yeah but benoit was normal looking he was just missing some teeth and very rough looking he was called a rabbid wolverine for a reason lol

i would'nt be against tom doing it tho

I understand that Benoit was "normal" looking (besides the missing tooth), but I was just saying that being "too good looking" wouldn't be an issue. I mean, I feel like Hardy went from dapper and handsome in Inception to rugged and mean-looking in Warrior pretty easily.

A man dedicates his life to an art form he loves. He spends years walking the line between fiction and reality, honing his craft, proving doubters wrong, and gaining the respect of his peers. But just as he reaches the height of his success, the nature of the business he loves takes it toll physically and emotionally, and manifests itself in the worst way imaginable.

Personally, I think that makes a pretty interesting movie.

I really enjoyed Benoit's wrestling career & he was one my favorite's whenever I tuned in to watch, however what he did to his wife & son, is unforgivable.

I'm 38 years old, have been a wrestling fan since I was about 8, am a former pro wrestler myself, and still watch wrestling on TV and live whenever possible. I was a big supporter of Chris Benoit's throughout his career, as well as his wife Nancy (Kevin Sullivan was one of my favorite heels, and she was awesome as Fallen Angel). That said, I'm not sure if I would want to see this movie.

First of all, the subject matter is very disturbing and depressing. Secondly, if Vince McMahon refuses to let himself, the WWE, or any of his employees be depicted in the film, that will eliminate a huge and very important chunk of the story. They won't even be able to accurately portray Chris Benoit's rise to success, or how he came to marry Nancy Sullivan, as all of the companies that were most influential to his rise in popularity and success are now owned by Vince McMahon (ECW, WCW, as well as the WWE). I predict that this film will have a very hard time being made, and even if it does get made, I see it having a hard time finding an audience.

Personally, I would much rather see a movie adaptation of Mick Foley's autobiographies Have A Nice Day: A Tale Of Blood & Sweatsocks and Foley Is Good: Real Life Is Faker Than Wrestling. They can be easily combined into one story, which would be very entertaining to both wrestling fans and the general audience alike. It would have an uplifting ending (either Mick's Hell In A Cell with Triple H, or the Fatal Four Way from Wrestlemania). And it would paint Vince McMahon in a fairly positive light, thus gaining his approval.

If you want something with a more somber tone, then I would do an Owen Hart biopic. His rise to fame was just as impressive as Benoit's, and his death just as tragic. However, he was a much more interesting person than Benoit. And while Vince might not come out completely sqeaky clean in this one (he did make Owen return to his Blue Blazer gimmic as punishment for refusing to agree to have a "Love Triangle" storyline between himself, Jeff Jarrett, and Debra), he also won't exactly be "villified" either. At least, he wouldn't if I were writing the script. Thus, it too would likely get "WWE approval".

On a side note, should I be proven wrong and this film does get made, I agree with the casting choice of Tom Hardy as Chris Benoit. I think he could definitely do the role justice. I just think it should be a supporting role in one of the films I listed above.

I used to have "I want a Mick Foley biopic starring Christian Bale".

Well, the news doesn't always report the actual facts. Remember when George W Bush first became president? Every news station in the US reported that Al Gore won in Florida. Then Fox News (which was run by W's cousin) reported that Bush had won, everyone changed their story, and they needed to go to The Supreme Court to find out who won the election.

By the way, speaking as someone who has been in the ring and has had The Crippler Crossface applied to him, I can tell you from personal experience that the move is all show. It looks impressive on TV, but in reality doesn't apply any pressure to any joints at all. It's like Alberto DelRio's cross arm breaker, or Brett Hart's figure four around the ring post. Absolutely useless. The STF, a normal figure four, or (my old finisher) the bridging Indian deathlock (which I called The Gates Of Hell), can actually snap a man's leg.

lol, As good as Christian Bale is, I don't think he'd make a very convincing Mick Foley. Jack Black on the other hand . . .

I know he doesn't have the name recognition of a Hulk Hogan but Benoit lived a very interesting life. He wrestled all over the world , was one of the best technical wrestlers of all time , and had the underdog story heading into Wrestlemania 20. In the hands of talented people it could be something but it's obvious they're only interested in exploiting the gruesome details of his last few days.

This could be interesting, I mean chris benoit the wrestler was rather bland to me when he was in the wwf. I just never got into him as a wrestler, he style was more technical and I was ore into the high flying stone cold beat you down type. However I could imagine his personal life being rather interesting and seeing his marriage and mental health deteriate to what we found out during his final days. I think this would be a mix of the wrestler and "O" with a touch of how the shield ended with shane killing his family.

O Wow I didn't know that. So moves like the Pile driver, DDT, Clothline, Neck Breaker, and Angle Lock can all be dangerous if not performed correctly? Well I do know that the Pile driver is extremely dangerous because Stone Cold got his neck broken by Owen Hart who used the pile driver on him.

They should totally do a Mick Foley pic based of the books he wrote. They were very entertaining and they could appeal to wrestling fans and non fans alike. Also Jack Black would be my choice if they did do a movie about Mick.
