The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Chris Cooper IS Norman Osborn

Because his last name isn't Fassbender, Hardy, or Gordon-Levitt.
Fassbender would be good for Norman if he was a little older but did anyone really suggest Hardy and Joseph Gordon Levit....Joseph freakin Gordon Levit!

I like this choice. I'm more and more on board with this sequel. The first one was just okay.

I love this casting. Cooper is always great.

Dafoe did bring great physicality to the role outside of the mask that I hope Cooper can deliver as well. Like the animalistic movement he did to pounce on his college right after he took the globulin green.

To be honest, Dafoe was in GREAT SHAPE when he did Spidey 1. He was fairly cut.

But all of that went to the pooper with that Power Rangers costume. I saw the film recently and while I still enjoy it, the costume felt so..half-hearted and cheap.

I'm drawing a couple of conclusion without having seen the movie;

1) Rhino will be a cameo
2) There will be no Bugle
3) Norman will have reduced role

Hopefully this will be the case or this is going to be a mess of a movie. That said TDK had a massive cast and was excellent but then again Two-face (not Dent) got the shaft.

Yeah, I think things with him could've been alot more frightening if they had a better costume to work with.

That was the biggest problem and (like him or hate him) I remember Kevin Smith said that it was a shame that they hire a great character like Dafoe, with that great face, only to hide it with a static mask. You can say the same with his body because it was so...bulky.

Which 'mirror' scene came first? Defoe or Gollum?

What's not to like about this casting choice? Seriously, I see no downside whatsoever to Cooper playing Osborne.

To all the naysayers, who would you have cast?

I'm really interested in what type of relationship Norman and Peter will have. I wonder if it will be the same as the 616 comics and the Raimi films where Norman praises Peter over Harry which causes Harry to be jealous of Peter or if they will try to portray the relationship differently to distance themselves from the Raimi films...or maybe they could use Norman knowing Peter's father as an excuse to set up their relationship and differentiate it from Raimi's movies?

i think peter will end up with amnesia, and eventually confront osborne in europe, who will explain everything to him, before yelling "you're a malfunctioning $30 million dollar weapon!"

oh wait, that's the bourne identity.

Yay Tex Richman!

I actually quite like this. He'll make a great oily Norman Osborn. Wonder what he'll be like as the Goblin?

This is excellent casting! Cooper will be great in this role, I have no doubt. He's a terrific actor and will be able to play the menacing, twisted, evil part perfectly. Let's just hope the script is good.

I remembr smith talking about that during his evening with Kevin smith tour lol. He described the scenes between Spider-Man and green goblin as being comparable to a kid playing with actin figure and jiggling them around to make it look like their talking. He's kind of right lmao.

Excellent choice! I've been waiting for the Norman casting news and finally we're getting it. Was hoping for some JJJ casting news too but I've accepted that this may not be happening in this picture.

I hope he does start doing some photography shots for a website or something as freelance and if it's called the Bugle, so be it. I know in the modern climate it would be akin to TMZ.

Still dissapointed they didn't go with Massee, but oh well.

I personally feel that Norman will transform into the Goblin via serum, but instead of becoming the Hulk-esque monster from the Ultimate comics, he'll become like the normal, 616 Green Goblin.

I would've liked to see him as GG, his voice is so creepy!

Like someone else said maybe Masse will play GG and Cooper will just be Norman.

Y'all need to get over this Masse character...
