Apparently the first look at Thor in Doomsday has appeared online and it seems like it’s from a bit of merchandise.

It’s a very similar look to the one in Infinity War, in Doomsday he seemingly will have his short hair back and will wear a short sleeved black armour with a new detail being that the traditional discs are now golden.

It’s basically this look with the 2 eyes, slightly different black armor and those golden discs.

From what one reads online, the second trailer will focus on Thor. After the vibe from the first teaser I don’t expect much different from this one but its always great seeing Thor again so I’m excited for that glimpse.

Also Doomsday will likely be a palate cleanser from what we got in TLT which all in all was such a massive wasted opportunity. I really hope we get the Russos version of IW Thor back because that one was pretty incredible.

Regarding the leaked audio for the Thor teaser…

If it’s indeed the real deal and it very much looks like it, it has shades of that scene with Rocket from IW and the one from Ragnarok when he’s in that holding cell in Sakaar praying to Odin.

In this case he’s almost repenting for his/life and ”sins”/worthiness and asking for one last chance to be with his daughter.

Yeh this is going to be though emotionally and I bet it’s going to break some people in theatres. The Russos are bringing IW Thor back.

Interesting question. I also wonder how they could explain that, intentionally is probably the most logical route.

I think one explanation would be for Thor himself to decide to cut it off almost as a serious sign to himself that his time to roll up the sleeves and get serious, maybe taking inspiration from how he leveled up in both Ragnarok and IW.

It could also be him remembering Jane and her struggles with cancer for example… And in a moment of contemplation deciding to cut the long locks.

Another explanation could be that we see a Thor variant for example.

Vendetta is a bit much when I ranked Thor (2011) as my favorite Phase 1 movie and I also prefer Thor over Steve/Tony, both whom I prefer not to return in Doomsday. Its clear you can't take criticism for Thor.

Last time we had Thor asking for that type of power up we got something that is arguably the biggest durability feat in the MCU.

“Allfathers, give me strength“

Also Heimdall earlier in IW asked for such a “blessing”, when in his dying breath summoned the bifrost to teleport Hulk back to Earth.

It could very well be but I bet he won’t be gone for long. He’s too popular to disappear forever. They’ll find a way to eventually bring him back like they have done with the X-Men, F4, Blade, Spider-Man’s…

Also there are still big characters/storylines from the Thor mythology that haven’t been introduced yet, so there’s another reason to continue exploring stuff with the character.

I can imagine talented creators being much more excited with a fresh new canvas as well. A cobbled together "new" universe with old faces mixed with new ones sounds more like something made-up by executives for executives first and foremost. I feel cynical already.
