Chris Hemsworth Is Thor

This overall Thor look from the Hong Kong Disneyland concept art is pretty sweet. Helmet, mjolnir, suit, engulfed in lightning… :like: :like:

Apparently the first look at Thor in Doomsday has appeared online and it seems like it’s from a bit of merchandise.
It’s a very similar look to the one in Infinity War, in Doomsday he seemingly will have his short hair back and will wear a short sleeved black armour with a new detail being that the traditional discs are now golden.

It’s basically this look with the 2 eyes, slightly different black armor and those golden discs.

Something very similar to this…

From what one reads online, the second trailer will focus on Thor. :-) After the vibe from the first teaser I don’t expect much different from this one but its always great seeing Thor again so I’m excited for that glimpse.

Also Doomsday will likely be a palate cleanser from what we got in TLT which all in all was such a massive wasted opportunity. I really hope we get the Russos version of IW Thor back because that one was pretty incredible.

Regarding the leaked audio for the Thor teaser…
If it’s indeed the real deal and it very much looks like it, it has shades of that scene with Rocket from IW and the one from Ragnarok when he’s in that holding cell in Sakaar praying to Odin.

In this case he’s almost repenting for his/life and ”sins”/worthiness and asking for one last chance to be with his daughter.

Yeh this is going to be though emotionally and I bet it’s going to break some people in theatres. The Russos are bringing IW Thor back. :teardrop:

So, it's looking more and more likely that Thor is gonna have short hair again in this movie. How are they gonna explain that? Surely he didn't intentionally have it cut again.

"By Odin's beard, you shall not cut my hair, lest you feel the wrath of the mighty Thor!"

Interesting question. I also wonder how they could explain that, intentionally is probably the most logical route.

I think one explanation would be for Thor himself to decide to cut it off almost as a serious sign to himself that his time to roll up the sleeves and get serious, maybe taking inspiration from how he leveled up in both Ragnarok and IW.

It could also be him remembering Jane and her struggles with cancer for example… And in a moment of contemplation deciding to cut the long locks.

Another explanation could be that we see a Thor variant for example.

“Father, all my life I have answered every call, to honor, to duty, to war. But now fate has given me something I never sought… a child, a life untouched by the storm.

Lend me the strength of the Allfathers, so that I may fight once more, defeat one more enemy, and return home to her, not as a warrior but as warmth. To teach her not battle but stillness, the kind I never knew.

Please father, heed my words.”

I mean, if someone kidnaps you and cuts your hair against your will, you are going to be upset by it. Doesn't mean you won't want to cut your own hair at some point.

That trailer is a no for me. I just don't care about Thor's relationship with Love.

You know I can voice my disinterest in Thor's thread without you giving reactions like that. Thats the 2nd time you've done that to me this month. Its fine to give criticisms. Like have you seen Doomsday's thread? there's full of it.

And I voice my frustration towards your particular, silly, long lasting vendetta against the character.

Vendetta is a bit much when I ranked Thor (2011) as my favorite Phase 1 movie and I also prefer Thor over Steve/Tony, both whom I prefer not to return in Doomsday. Its clear you can't take criticism for Thor.

Last time we had Thor asking for that type of power up we got something that is arguably the biggest durability feat in the MCU.

“Allfathers, give me strength“

Also Heimdall earlier in IW asked for such a “blessing”, when in his dying breath summoned the bifrost to teleport Hulk back to Earth.

"All-Fathers, let the dark magic flow through me one last time."

A part of me is a little worried that this film will serve as Chris's swan song for the role. I wouldn't put it past Marvel to have Doom kill Thor in order to establish him as a credible threat.

Thats fine to me. I hope this is the MCU swan song for Tony, Steve, Thor, Hughverine, Deadpool and Hulk.

It's pretty much the swan song for the MCU anyway.

They real trick is recasting all these characters for whatever follows.

It could very well be but I bet he won’t be gone for long. He’s too popular to disappear forever. They’ll find a way to eventually bring him back like they have done with the X-Men, F4, Blade, Spider-Man’s…

Also there are still big characters/storylines from the Thor mythology that haven’t been introduced yet, so there’s another reason to continue exploring stuff with the character.

It isn't.
We can speculate either way. Is Hemsworth going to remain in the role opposite a new Steve and Tony? Will Tom Holland remain, I don't think anything is concrete at this point beyond Spider-Man 4 and the two Avengers films?

Is the universe after Secret Wars going to be called the MCU? How about the MCEU? It'll be a weird continuity. I would think audiences would prefer something wholly new from the ground up. I can imagine talented creators being much more excited with a fresh new canvas as well. A cobbled together "new" universe with old faces mixed with new ones sounds more like something made-up by executives for executives first and foremost. I feel cynical already.
