The Dark Knight Rises Christopher Nolan Is Doing Batman 3!!!

Yeah, I know what you mean. Like burst into facial expressions and idiotic sounds ala Ace Ventura.

Irrelevant, but I think the title of the thread is a bit misleading. There's been no official confirmation from Nolan's side about BB3.

True though. I hope we get one soon! Put us all at peace!

I still feel that if the film (BF) was less campy and more serious, Carey would have been a great Riddler. He has done some pretty serious stuff after BF that indicates he could fit in the Nolan-verse.
And anyway, he sounds a better choice than Eddie Murphy as the Ridler (ooohh Sun).

Agreed. He has shown some good acting chops in the likes of The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. But given that he played a campy version of the Riddler in a previous Batman movie, I would be very surprised if Nolan casts him (if the Riddler is even involved at all). Nolan has had a big enough challenge trying to convince audiences that Batman Begins wasn't a prequel to Batman '89 and that TDK wasn't a remake of Batman '89. I remember when my college showed Batman Begins, they sent out an email telling everyone about it and their synopsis claimed it was a prequel to Batman '89. When I inquired about it, I was told that the synopsis came straight from the movie studio. Fan-freaking-tastic.

Prequel to '89? Well, that's quite dumb! You don't reboot a franchise and base its reputation to a dead one. Sometimes, I really feel that if you want to be hired at Warner you have to have a mental problem.

We agree on the Carrey thing. There's no way for him to appear even as a cameo of a different character. And we also agree on the possibility of Riddler being the main villain in the next film. I'm not saying that Nolan will surprise us by having the Ventriloquist as the main baddie, but I don't like that people still think on terms of the Burton films. "Oh, Nolan did Joker, so the next logical step is the Penguin and Catwoman or the Riddler."
I mean, the guy resurrected the Bat-chise using Scarecrow (a not so common villain even for comic book fans) and Ra's (a villain known onlhy to the comic book readers). And I still feel he should've kept Joker for the 3rd (not that it was bad!). But you know, imagine if he had kept Jo for the peak of the franchise.

This might be nitpicking, but I feel he resurrected the franchise using Bruce Wayne. First and only time in live action that Bruce has received proper character development. The villains were truly supporting characters for a change. Hopefully they can move some of the focus back to Bruce for the third movie. TDK is really an ensemble piece. Nothing wrong with that, but I would like to see more development of Bruce's character and more focus on him instead of making him part of a big group of characters.

True. You do have a point, and I hope that Bruce comes back as the MAIN character again. The Burton films were all evil-centered. I hope nobody throws a rock at me, but in Batman&Robin, there was somewhat of a focus on Bruce that hadn't appeared before.

Quick, run for the hills. Prepare for flaming bags of poop on your porch, among other things. :woot:

Of you did not just say that :cwink:

What if we got banned for saying things like that?...
:)

I agree that it had a heavy focus on Bruce, but I certainly wouldn't say Begins (obviously) and '89 didn't... Forever said a lot about his psychology as well, and Returns dipped into the mentality behind his attraction to someone like Catwoman pretty decently, and his reaction to love in general.

Hmm, I'm surprised I haven't given this as much thought as I am now..

Going OT here. Why has Batman pretty much taken over this site? Iron Man has a sequel coming out just 2.5 months down the road yet the Batboards are receiving a lot more visitors. Spider-Man actually has a new movie announced and there's more visitors on the Batboards, despite no actual announcements for a new Batman movie. It's interesting that this site started as a Spider-Man site but somewhere along the way it went nuclear for Batman. What is it that makes Batman so popular with Internet nerds compared to other popular superheros? The box office does not suggest anywhere near the popularity gap that this website would suggest, so it's clearly a niche part of the market. Is it because of the TDK virals (basically throwing a bone to fanboys)? Seems like the Batboards were by far the most popular even before then.

Frankly, I just find Batman insanely more interesting/worth talking about. Spider-man's destiny is pretty much up in the air, and everything that can be said about hopes and dreams for the reboot and all the rants about Raimi and S-3 are completely covered -- more than covered, even. As far as Iron Man 2 goes, I'd say that the general consensus is that the first film was a smash hit and the second is expected to follow suit. The only discussion topics I'd look twice at (and already have, probably over a year ago) are like 'How would they make Mandarin in a movie?' and 'Are you okay with Don Cheadle?' - fun discussion doesn't really go beyond that to me. I expect to love films from both series, but Batman has more to talk about and think about.

Personally, it's the awesomeness of Nolan and being able to share that excitement with you guys.

Gotta say, that I did love that ending in Batman Forever.

That was pure Carrey right there. Crazy, creepy, yet funny.....

Regarding discussion of the SM3 crapfest, there is no movie on here more talked about than TDK. That movie has literally been nitpicked to death. The discussion of SM3 was relatively short-lived by comparison. There are more people talking about TDK right now than Iron Man 2 for crying out loud. I saw someone mention concern over IM2's marketing thus far. I do think they will get it going in time for the movie to be a huge success, but it does seem like they've been very subdued in their approach.

Well TBH. When Jonathan Nolan and Dave Goyer were announced to be penning BM3,I wouldve expected the masses to be packing up on here, but not enough. When the reboot of Spider-Man was announced,it was madness.

But I think when Chris makes a clear announcement or an official one by a team member, the Hype Forums will crash, lol.

It comes out in May, so its a little less than 3 months away. They have 1 official Theatrical trailer. I think we'll get a new one with Kick-Ass. Idk, I don't really see it as a concern. I remember the first TV spot I saw for IM was in late April and it did fine. My theater put up the IM2 poster the day AVATAR came out, so its had some exposure around here for awhile.

I'm leaning towards Nolan as the X-factor. The guy is practically a god on the Internet. I'm actually a bigger Nolan fan than Nolan Batman fan. He has done a great job with the franchise but he has even more potential IMHO. The climaxes of both BB and TDK did not sit well with me compared to the climaxes in the likes of Following, Memento, and The Prestige.

I may be the only one, I didn't like Batman Forever too much, but Jim Carrey's Riddler made it watchable IMO.

Maybe Jim Carrey could be the Riddler again someday.....:D.....I'm being too hopeful.....:(

That's probably the best part of the movie. Too bad you have to sit through the rest of it to get to that part. Thank goodness for chapter skipping in DVD/Blu-ray. :woot:

I've seen people get concerned about the number of villains in IM2. Fearing that it will get the SM3 complex. Unlike SM3 the villains which had three separate villains, with individual storylines, the villains in IM2 seem to tie in together. Plus no one seems forced in. Did BB and TDK not teach them anything?

The best thing it has going for it is obviously RDJ. As long as he is around and assuming he doesn't mail it in, the script should be solid. He and the writers improvised and edited a lot of the first movie's script from my understanding. RDJ isn't just going to spout some cheesy-@$$ lines, and if he does, he will make them sound fine instead of embarrassing like the main actors in SM3.

With the right director, capable of disciplining Carrey's overly wild side, I actually think Carrey could have been an excellent Joker,in a version more in line with the comics.

I think even Tommy Lee Jones could have made a good Two-Face if the character was handled properly.

IM2 is looking like a terrible movie that is getting worse everyday.
