The Dark Knight Rises Christopher Nolan Is Doing Batman 3!!!

IM2 is looking like a terrible movie that is getting worse everyday.

Hmmm...why do you say that? Admittedly, I wasn't too impressed by the trailer or Comic Con footage. I also haven't been following the development very closely (spoilers and such). I am just assuming that it'll be solid. I ain't expecting TDK or IM1 level of quality because (a) Joker rocks and Whiplash doesn't, and (b) origin stories are usually better told than straight up "good vs. evil" stories. BB had better storytelling than TDK and I think IM1 will have better storytelling than IM2. Maybe I'm just a sucker for origin stories though. :hehe:

I'm actually really excited for iron man 2. I feel like they held a lot back with the first trailer.

I've seen people get concerned about the number of villains in IM2. Fearing that it will get the SM3 complex. Unlike SM3 the villains which had three separate villains, with individual storylines, the villains in IM2 seem to tie in together. Plus no one seems forced in. Did BB and TDK not teach them anything?

I don't know why, there's only two: Justin Hammer and Whiplash. Black Widow is a Shield agent. In that picture of her kneeling you can see the Shield symbol on her suit.

The "wow" feeling of seeing the Iron Man armor inaction has sorta dripped away...

I'm so tired of people taking the fact that a movie has more than 2 villains at a time that it's going to suck.

Batman Begins had Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul, Carmine Falcone, and Mr. Zsasz.

The Dark Knight had Sal Maroni, Two-Face, Joker, and Scarecrow

Four villains in the first movie, four villains in the second.

Neither was a bad movie.

Exactly, a big reason why TF1 was much better than TF2. Both movie scripts were trash, but TF2 just did not have that WOW appeal that TF1 did.

Zsasz and Scarecrow in TDK really shouldn't count. Scarecrow only had about two minutes of screentime in TDK and Zsasz had nothing more than a cameo. He didn't even have any lines.

Yea i agree, most of the crime lords werent real "super-villains" anyway

might as well say J Jonah Jameson in Spider-man was a villain

But TDK worked these things so well. A bit like HP:ATDH. They had many characters and subplots, that fitted into 1 big giant plot. I like to see that again. The characters and subplots in TDK were jigsaw peices and were all connected to create the puzzle in full.

Technically TDK had more villains than that if you think about the mob with Gambol and the Chechen. Both didn't have much screen time but were fairly big characters, bigger than Scarecrow anyway.

Frankly, I just find Batman insanely more interesting/worth talking about. Spider-man's destiny is pretty much up in the air, and everything that can be said about hopes and dreams for the reboot and all the rants about Raimi and S-3 are completely covered -- more than covered, even.

This, and the Spider-board become a very scary place after the reboot was announced.

As far as Iron Man 2 goes, I'd say that the general consensus is that the first film was a smash hit and the second is expected to follow suit. The only discussion topics I'd look twice at (and already have, probably over a year ago) are like 'How would they make Mandarin in a movie?' and 'Are you okay with Don Cheadle?' - fun discussion doesn't really go beyond that to me. I expect to love films from both series, but Batman has more to talk about and think about.

I can't speak for anyone else here, but I just don't know that much about Iron Man.

Alo the stuff that was reported on CBM was fake, created by a deluded fan to stir the waters...There will be no hopefully cameo of Robin or Mr Freeze.

I don't know THAT much about Iron Man. I'm pretty excited, but there really isn't anything I'm THAT interested in talking about before I see it. I didn't visit the IM board before I saw it. IM was awesome and then I talked a little on the forums after I saw it. I'm gonna stick to the same approach for IM2

Speaking of Gambol, has anyone seen Black Dynamite? It came out last year (Michael Jai White stars in it) and the funniest thing I've ever seen. Check it if you can.
No, I will not earn money if you do.
You know, I don't think we can compare Batman's villains with other heroes'. Batman is a real guy which makes him and his enemies more intimidating. The others are SUPERheroes with impossible villains.

Wouldn't go that far, although I will say I do get a very 'film one repeated' feel from the footage to date.

he's more the false hero than the villain

you're comparing TDK which delivered everything you wanted to HP: ATDH which basically the less said the better.

also, Reese, he was Bruce Wayne's villain.:woot:

the thing with Batman is that a lot of his villains are normal in a sense baring man bat, freeze and clayface so you could get a lot of them in there with the budget whereas with Spider-man or Superman you can't have like say five or somthing cos it would need so much special affect depending on what villains you use.

Excuse my failure to skim through the last 16 pages, but this is a fleeting visit.

Would someone mind telling me whether the info at the start of the thread has been confirmed or rebutted?

Thanks Batpeople.

Well, Nolan is the director of the new Spiderman film, Edward Norton will write and direct the 3 Batman film, Goyer will star and direct the upcoming Superman film and yes, Oasis got back together.

Not.
It's just the whole semi-official announcement about Nolan returning to the franchise and being a consultant for the reboot of Superman. And as you can understand, once you open the faucet apart from water, other stuff may come out as well.

Agreed. I doubt it will be as good as the first one.

It just looks like it will fall into the cheese and over the top side.....but we'lll see I suppose.

I was really exciting when first seeing the trailer, but learning more about the movie seems to have lowered my excitement. There is too much going on and I think Iron Man 2 has lost that "WOW" factor the first one had.

Tough to top a good origin story unless you have a great villain in the sequel.
