Oh hell no. Nolan's first choice was Evan Rachel Wood, but she declined due to scheduling conflicts. I thought Page did a great job.

haha after watching this flick i cant imagine Rachel Wood and Franco in their roles. Im sure it would of been fine but JGL and Page worked well.

I'm suddenly realizing how much I desperately wanna see Kate Beckinsale in a Christopher Nolan movie.

Yeah, I'm sure Franco and Wood would have done fine as well, but regardless, I thought JGL and Page owned their parts. I would have liked to see a bit more of Arthur and Ariadne together since the attraction between them is hinted at several times, but it might have detracted too much from the main plot.

Also, the Inception/Shutter Island comparisons probably wouldn't even be happening if it weren't for two key factors: both deal with the human mind and in both movies
the character who plays Leo's wife goes batsh** crazy and he's riddled with guilt over how he handles it.

But the two characters are completely different... Teddy is always on edge and in a state of confusion over what is happening. Cobb, in contrast, is very much in control (except when it comes to Mal) and is the one pulling most of the strings, as opposed to being the one who is being manipulated.

Their characters might be different but the similarity between what is reality and what is a dream is still applied in both films. Shutter Island counted more on it's "twist" while Inception was pretty much straight forward, rather just interlaced with complexities.

the whole star wars episode franchise is terrible..

she can act and i think she would have done a good job but that's not possible anymore.

She's inconsistent IMHO. Terrible in Star Wars III for instance, but pretty good in V For Vendetta.

Everyone is terrible in Star Wars III. Even James Earl Jones somehow managed to ruin his two or three lines of dialogue.

Portman is better in smaller, quirkier films, IMO. I loved her in Garden State, Closer and Leon. In larger, more mainstream projects, she seems to fall flat for some reason.

I agree, but the prequels were so terrible, I can't blame her for that. It's like Harrison Ford said, "George, you can type this s***, but you can't say it."

A better example of her inconsistency is in film like Brothers and Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. She was just awful in both those movies.

I'm glad Franco wasn't in this. I don't hate him but I have gotten "tired" of him I guess you could say. I liked JGL in the role a lot and think it was great exposure for him and hopefully his career really picks up. I had read in a magazine this big article/interview with JGL and he said for years he kept getting turned down for roles because people would just think of him as 'that long haired kid from 3rd Rock'. Glad he's doing better.

True, George's dialogue is cringeworthy in those films. "You're breaking my heart, Anakin."

if he gets cast in the new batman flick thatll put him towards movie star status defintiely

Where was this ever reported? I only saw it briefly on IMDB.

Haha, I actually still picture him as that kid because I watched that show all the time. Very pleasantly surprised that he's come into his own over the years. And he did well for his role in Inception, but I felt Franco would have suited it better simply because he looks more mature. JGL stood out to me as looking so young.

I agree about JGL, and it's definitely a step in the right direction after Cobra Commander last year (ugh!).

However my one criticism of the movie is I just don't like Ellen Page. I've never really liked her, although I've never seen Juno. I didn't like her in X3, and I thought she was serviceable here, but I don't think she added much to the film compared to the other actors. Just my 2 cents.

I liked the fact that Leo had a younger sidekick. It was cool that he relied on someone younger but he was still experienced. Arthur was Cobb's Robin but cooler (depending on the interpretation)

I think this flick might be one of the rare films where the ensemble cast goes on to much better things. (except leo he already has reached his peak haha).

I saw Arthur as Cobb's assisstant and Adriane as Cobb's apprentice

if that makes any kind of sense.
