I know. but did it look better than the average IMAX movie? Since some scenes were 65mm.

Yes it did. My favorite part was the mountain visuals. You could tell it was 65mm because the grain field was intact and the level of detail was amazing. Usually with a 35mm upconvert, they scrub the grain out to make the image look smoother but the result is a lower amount of detail. That's not the case with this scene. It's stunning to look at IMHO.

All of the overhead shots of the cities were amazing too.

This is my jam right now, to be honest

It's funny you should say that. The music was so seamless that at times I didn't even notice it. But in retrospect it was so well done, all the tracks really stayed with me.

This one is great too.

I say this the other night.

I think it was really good, interesting, orginal good score by Hans Zimmer too!
Great cast and acting didn't seem like 2 and an half hours.

The ending though I was like omg so you know is he isn't he! Must know the answere lol

Great film !!

Looks like Darling Nikki significantly overestimated both Inception and Salt. Official studio estimates are Inception at $13.2m and Salt at $12.5m. Inception will probably make around $43m this weekend based on that Friday number. This is a 31.5% drop from opening weekend, which is amazing enough in the first place but even more amazing when you look at how strong its regular weekday numbers have been. Usually strong weekdays end up deflating the weekend a bit. This happened with both TDK and TS3 for instance. Inception is bucking that trend, which is great to see.

Right now I think it's headed for $300-350m domestic. I also think it's going to be pretty big overseas. The ending is simply buzzworthy and the spectacle is pretty amazing too. I think the Japanese will love it. Hopefully it gets released in China, which TDK did not. I think it has the potential to make $450m overseas. In other words, possibly as high as $800m worldwide (maybe even bigger depending on reception overseas).

Didn't TDK bomb in Japan?

But yes, Inception has far more potential overseas than TDK.

I went out and I loved the movie! It was great and the ending scene kept the whole audience at the edge of their seats! One scene that confused me is when we see Ellen Page making her totem of a gold pawn. I wonder if this has significance?

That track is probably one of my favorites, as is "Time".

There is a electric guitar and drums cover of "Dream is Collapsing" that someone did that is really, really cool.

well I'm watching inception again on monday. I'm going to give it the second viewing it deserves, hopefully this time around being more familiar with the characters I will be able to enjoy the themes and action more. I was completely removed from the action first time around because I didn't care for any of them (although I thought cobb's story was touching).

I think I'm discovering as a movie watcher that the most important thing to me isn't the plot, the pacing, the visuals or the action (though each has importance in a movie), its the characters and I just didn't care for the characters in inception, maybe it was because apart from cobb none of them are developed, maybe it was because I thought none of them were in any real danger
because you can't die

anyway like I said I am watching the movie again, with no expectations this time becuase I know what is actually in the film rather than what the adverts make the film out to be (a matrix clone). hopefully I'll enjoy the movie this time as I did with blade runner, another movie I didn't enjoy first time around but is now in my top 3 sci-fi movies ever.

Yes it did, but TDK is an American superhero property. The Japanese are very into crazy concepts like Inception. Just look at all the mindblowing anime stuff that has been very successful over there.

The movie isn't about the other characters. It's about Cobb and Mal. Focus on that part of it and you will be near tears during a couple of scenes...

The very end of the movie, although the whole track isn't on there. It's more like its own piece.

I definitely picture an ice dance program to this. Hopefully the elite couples will friggin' give up their Requiem for a Dream programs and go for Inception instead. :funny:

You don't have to make yourself like it if you just don't like it.

My screenwriter friend was saying how she realized that even though she could admire Nolan films and acknowledge that he's a solid craftsman and director, she couldn't LOVE them because the characters are so cold. I agree - the only characters who you could consider to be warm are Gordon and maybe Eames, but only because Eames is played like a lovable smartass. :funny: In those cases, it's because of the actors, it isn't because of the writing. Nolan tends to hold and examine his characters at a distance. You wouldn't really want to be friends with any of them.

And I love his movies anyway, or maybe even because of that. If I want to be friends with the characters, I think it tends to stop being a movie experience for me where I'm watching this hyperreal world.

I haven't had any trouble connecting with nolan's characters in the past.

each one of those movies I've enjoyed the cast, but each of those movies the concept is no where near as complex (as inception) so the movie didn't need much exposition, the time instead was used to develope the leads.

LeBron James tweet: "Inception is the best movie of the year thus far! Wow"

Nelly Furtao tweet: "I am in love with.................................a movie! Can't get it out of my mind!"

I knew the characters couldn't die, but what made me tense was that I really didn't know if they'd be able to pull off inception and/or get out of the dream. The movie was so dark up to that point that I thought there was a real possibility they'd all be trapped there.

A lot of people have been talking up JGL's role in Inception but my favorite character was Eames, for the reason you gave.
