like I said someone polishing the script could have caught that

Does anyone else think it would have been better if they didn't show the Kraken in the previews?

Big time!

Once again another example of trailers showing way too much.

Well of course Perseus riding on Pegasus looked better than the original with stop motion but was it just personal preference that you liked that it was black or was it the black = cool factor?

I did like the armor the Gods were wearing.
Yeah, the gods had cool armor too. Basically, Black == uber cool. Also I liked the thick mane he had too. But I saw it in 3D and the scene where we first see Pegasus gave me double vision. It almost looked that there were 2 of them side by side. I wonder if anyone else saw that, or was it just me. :csad:

Oh, I also liked the new scorpians

That one reason is why I said this is absolutely one of the worst films I've ever seen. When he didn't finish the mission, what was the point of all the people that died helping him? They never established that he cared about saving Andromedea or Argos. He could have arrived after the city was destroyed and it wouldn't have mattered as long as he got a shot at the Kraken, but he didn't do that either.

Dude basically failed in his quest.
He did fail. But he got Io at the end. :whatever:

yes. Medusa's face too. They should have only showed the back of her head. It would have helped the surprise element, but the movie would still suck.
If I hate this movie...I hate it as a man
:hehe:

Thought the flick was alright.

Sam was great and I hope he sticks to action roles.
CGI was fantastic, except the CGI Madusa. I felt a full CGI Madusa wasn't necessary.
I digged the designs a lot.

The end battle was too short. Hades got defeated in 10 seconds, the ****?
The film felt rushed.
Too many obvious plot holes.
Would of like more exploration into the mythology.

SUNDAY PM: Rival studios are chortling to me tonight how the "Fox forecast was way way off" of $7.1M for Date Night's Sunday take -- and how Warner Bros' Clash Of The Titans was "easily" #1 money-wise by more than a million. According to early box office results for today, it looks like Clash Of the Titans took in $7.5M Sunday for a $27M weekend total whereas Date Night made $5.6M Sunday for a $25.5M weekend total. Uh, that's no photo finish; that's a $1.5M lead -- thanks to higher 3D ticket prices and almost 500 more play dates.

Still i don't think it'll get a sequel despite making it's budget back.

8/10

I think there was something missing in the story and the ending felt rushed. CGI Medussa was dissapointing.

Since no one's posted this yet, here's a VERY interesting article from, surprise, surprise, CHUD that explains some of the plot holes based on what was in one of the original script drafts:

http://chud.com/articles/articles/23299/1/BY-ZEUS-THE-VERSION-OF-CLASH-OF-THE-TITANS-YOU-DIDN039T-SEE/Page1.html

Don't get me wrong, the final version movie kicked ass (though the 3-D conversion, while "meh" AT BEST, REALLY needs to be improved in order to look like actual 3-D), but the stuff mentioned in Devin Faraci's article sounds really intreguing and I would've like to have seen some of that stuff in the final film. Either way, I give the movie a 8.5 out of 10 since I was never bored by it (me being a Greek mythology lover, and all), and the action scenes were really well directed.

I havent seen the movie yet so cant say if I want a sequel or not, but probably from Friday onwards this movie will be making profit and with no major competition until Iron Man 2 comes out this could make a healthy profit at the BO if the drop-offs remain steady. Then factor in BD/DVD sales and I think WB will be looking at a sequel personally.

The sound FX more than made up for that in the final cut. maybe it was the theater's sound system, but I kinda got chills from its first bellow.

I very much enjoyed the 2010 CotT, but it's still a completely unnecessary remake. The original could easily have been re-released and nobody would have noticed. Harry Hamlin is no worse a selling point than Sam Worthington (who I still don't get).

The audience might notice the dated special effects. :cwink:

Damn, that was a great article of what Clash could have been and it could have been something. It sounded so much better and interesting.

saw this last night and while it wasn't as bad as i was expecting (the anti-hype made it seem like a horrible movie) it has wayyyy too many flaws for a remake of this proportion. it's a very very dumb movie. it has dialogue and character actions that don't make sense, there's next to NO acting involved, and i couldn't have cared less for any of the characters. what i DID like about the movie were some of the character designs and many of the set designs (Olympus and the map of the floor of Zeus's chamber). SOME of the action was cool too, but it shouldn't be hard to make good action when you're playing around with Greek mythology.

unfortunately, that's where the good parts end. the story didn't make sense, ALL of the characters were 1D (not even 2D), and much of the action was hard to follow (yay for the continuation of quick cuts and close shots from directors who don't know how to direct action). on top of that, the action scenes seemed short. i think the longest sequence was with the scorpions in the desert. that's the only action sequence in this movie that felt more than 5 minutes long.

now about the effects...there were a handful of great shots, however, i have a feeling that Ray Harryhausen is cussing himself nearly to death because of this movie. the main feature of the original movie were the state of the art effects for it's time. i don't think anyone can argue that, for a fantasy film, the effects were the best with the resources that were available. unfortunately, that's not the case here. Avatar just came out less than a year ago, that means EVERY movie that has special effects needs to step up it's game but there were many shots in this movie where i felt i was watching a late 90's/early 2000's movie (Medusa reminded me of the Rock as the Scorpion King in Mummy Returns). many shots of the scorpions were an eye-sore. it's very obvious that they rushed this movie and didn't put any effort into making sure that it's a QUALITY movie. they put a lot of money into it, but there was practically no LOVE.

i'm very disappointed with Legendary Pictures and Warner Brothers for putting out such a half-assed remake of what's regarded by many to be a classic. it's sad that i'll enjoy watching 'the Mummy Returns' at least 10 more times before sitting through this movie again.

I gave it a 9. I just saw it and all I can say is WOW. That was alot of fun. Much better than the original.

I wish I could have seen it at a theater but even watching it on my computer was alot of fun. I can't wait till it comes to OnDemand so I can see it again on a bigger screen.

BTW Don't bother asking how I saw it, I can't tell. Sorry.

I also think the deciding facto in a sequel will be the dvd/BR sales. And I do think you can argue the effects not being great in the original, like I said before just look at the opening of the ark in Raiders. And Raiders came out on the same day.

The movie doesnt have competition til Iron Man??? By that point it's box office will have shrunk to nothing! In addition to every other movie (even chick flicks would be competition since Sam is a new sex symbol type for girls) Kick Ass is coming out and that directly competes for the action dollar...and Nightmare On Elm Street will be competing for a lot of the same crowd.

I just went to clash with the titans in 3D yesterday, and wasn't so impressed. I had completely forgotten about how they added the 3D effect after the movie was already finished. Big no-no. It turned out pretty awful, in consequence. I could remove the glasses for long periods of time and see no difference, excluding the few extra dollars missing from my wallet.

Onto the movie itself. The scenes—if being cheesy wasn't enough—were crammed in and I noticed poor editing at times. The script didn't spend enough time to elaborate on things such as the alien wizard tribe, the winged horses, or that seemingly ageless woman who follows Perseus around. I don't recall some of the names because I don't think they are ever even used by anyone in the movie.

The plot jumped all over the place, failing to tell us who those witches even are, the meaning behind that random robotic owl someone had supposedly packed on the quest, or how the two hunters managed to find one of the giant scorpions, train it, and walk it into Argos during the final battle.

By the way, did anyone notice the hilariously huge plot hole as the story came to an close? Be careful—I might spoil a thing or two here. So, the one thing in the whole wide world that bests the Kraken is Medusa's glare, right? Because it would be turned to stone, right? Well, from what I saw, that only works on humans—men, to be exact. For example, it didn't petrify the alien wizard guy. So, er, can anyone tell me how exactly it would work on the Kraken, a monster so awesome that it could even kill a god? That's not exactly human. Plus, the movie made it appear as if Medusa had to change her face to petrify people, and when Perseus took her head, it looked like a lady's face, which shouldn't have done any damage anyway. Perhaps the original movie had different details, but I'm only going by what I just saw.

Also, didn't the witches make a big deal out of the prophecy that Perseus will die if continues his quest—even if he takes the head of Medusa? Um, honestly, I had forgotten all about that until after the movie was over. Not only did he not die, he barely even got close to dying. In saying that I mean, not close enough for a movie-goer like me to go, "Oh no! It's probably going to be Perseus's end, as foretold!

I don't usually enjoy movies which both insult my intelligence and test my patience. I'm unoriginal, so I'm going to welcomely agree with the current average rating at Rotten Tomatoes and give it a 4.4/10.

Its bound to be, the movie will in profit once it leaves cinemas, so BD/DVD will be all profit as well, just depends how much it makes.

Kick-Ass doesnt have the name recognition or appeal of COTT though, COTT is a re-make of a beloved film, Kick-ass is a film adaptation of a little known comic book, it depends on WOM with KA if you ask me, forgot about NOES though i'll give you that one.

You cant just say "Kick Ass isnt competition because it isnt a remake". It's an action based movie...in theaters at the same time as another action based movie. When someone goes to the theater to see an action film, there is a built in choice. The concept that movies arent competing for the same dollar unless they are remakes is, frankly, absurd.

It'd be one thing if I was claiming that My Little Pony is competition for Saw 12...but I'm not.

it was a letdown for me,I wished to see more of the gods. The movie should have been better. You could have played "the drinking game" whenever perseus spouted his "I'll do it as a man" line. Dude...****
