What the hell? Saying I have a point instead of reacting like my opinion somehow invalidates your opinion so we end up in a never-ending posting war trying to win. What is going on here!!!?

This is the internet. That's how this goes.:woot:

Sorry :csad:

And this is exactly why I can't take reviews here seriously. It's the same old fanboy sheep mentality that plagues websites all over the Internet.
while there ARE sheep that like to follow the heard, there are also plenty of independent minded movie watchers that simply just share the same opinion. when judging a movie there are only so many kinds of opinions one can have. it just happens that most people think that this movie is either bad or just okay. about the only other option is thinking the movie is great, which most people simply don't. chill out and worry about your own opinion, instead of calling everyone who disagrees with yours 'sheep'.

There are many opinions? Wow, really? Haha.
I am chilled out, guy. I just gave my opinion, sorry it wasn't sweetened enough for you.

you should probably report his post to a mod. that type of rational sanity is just uncalled for.

I dont think sheep is a very strong insult to start with

For some reason every theater near me is showing only the 3D version. If any of them won't show the 2D version during COTT's theatrical run I'll pass it.

Im going for home release on this one

the same with me. i wanted to watch this movie on the big screen. :csad:

i wouldn't mind seeing a poll in this thread to get an overview of peoples opinions without having to read and possibly see spoilers. thanks.

My theater is the opposite, they're only playing in 2D.

I'm planning on catching this between classes this afternoon. The reviews have made me dubious but I want to make my own opinion.

I can agree with this. I wanted so much to not like this movie, I probaly even tried to makes myself not like this movie. But I ended up really liking the movie and I'm glad that they didn't just use the same story which they would have also been bashed for.

Agreed.

Ditto.
I really wanted to see COTT in 2-d first but as i checked the website of the theater chain i frequently visit , i couldnt find any theater that has a 2-d version.
Gawd :csad:

3D conversions should at least be cheaper than shot-in-3D films. No way I'm paying up for it. Btw is there anyone there who had anything good to say about COTT's 3D?

Despite all the reviews & negativity I'm still going to see this in 2D. I love stuff related to or derived from Greek mythology. I'll be happy with a 6/10 experience now! :csad:

"They filmed it in 2D and converted it to 3D and amazingly the characters remained 1D" Steven Colbert

....heh, well, much like all human characters in most of Harryhausen movies.:cwink:

Just got back from the theater.

Mildly entertaining but unintentionally goofy as all hell.

Some of my flash impressions:

(SPOILERS FOLLOW:)

The climax with the Kraken was the most exciting part, visually spectacular, but the complete elimination of the Perseus-Andromeda romance rendered it flat.

Medusa was too obviously CGI.

Ralph Fiennes was unintentionally goofy with his baby Voldemort voice that makes him always sound like he's having an asthma attack (why the hell, Ralph?). He could have played Hades better.

Mads Mikkelsen maintained his dignity, for what it was worth. Nobody is really developed to where you care if they live or die.

Liam Neeson was OK for what little he had.

A lot of people bash Sam Worthington around here, but like Neeson and Mikkelsen I thought Worthington was fine for what he had to work with, which didn't give him hardly anything to actually do. It's not his fault the movie was riddled with problems.

Wasn't crazy about Cassiopeia getting killed off in her first scene.

Everything felt half-baked. The two Arabs are clearly set up as "comic relief" and then nothing is done with them and they leave halfway through.

It's never made completely clear who/what Io is and WHY she's been watching Perseus his whole life, and her never been fleshed out beyond walking exposition means we don't care about the half-assed hint of romance randomly thrown in between she and Perseus. Not to mention Perseus and Andromeda not getting together totally screws up the mythology.

The final "confrontation" between Perseus and Hades was as half-assed as could be, and made Hades look lame.

The Djinn was a walking plot device, just like Io is walking exposition.

And Calibos was WAY underused.

I didn't have a problem with the scorpions, I liked Pegasus, the Kraken was spectacular for its brief screentime, and the Medusa scene was relatively exciting, although like Calibos she was much creepier in the original.

A side note: is Pete Postlethwaite healthy? Was I the only one who thought he looked like he weighed about 75 pounds?

I just watched a COTT commercial on tv.
I can't believe that things have gone the opposite way.

The movie actually is promoted here as

CLASH OF THE TITANS

3-D

Also in 2-d

That bold part used to be "also in 3-d"

I hate this wave of 3-D so much, its just to gimmicky in my opionion. Its to the point now that movies like resident evil 9 are putting in the preview... "same 3D cameras used by james cameron". how pathetic is that?

instead of 3D crap why dont we concentrate on high def movie reels and quality sound systems. I would rather pay too see ironman 2 in high def on the big screen then in 3D.

the image quality and sound quality is as good as it gets.

I'm beginning to regret the huge success of Avatar and 3D since it's been a boost for so-so 3D films (Alice and this)... :o

I didn't like this film, it felt like a long version of the trailer, there was nothing to care for any of the characters and the action was confusing (even more in 3D maybe).
Not good at all, and I hope the apparent success of the film won't bring the Avengers on a silver plate to Leterrier.

how so darkb? Im not joking or anything Im just asking because maybe its the theaters around me but the video never looks clear as bluray or high def programming and the audio always never has a crisp sound to it. plus the film always seems to have the black circle spots every once and a while.

I still feel the screen can be more high def then what they are. I think its time we get away from the giant reels of film and go more high tech.

i made a mistake. i wanted to writte that the image quality and sound qulity that they capture is good enough. the theaters never show the full quality because they try to save on everything.

i remember 2 years back i saw a blockbuster and the image quality looked like it was from the 70's. i was shocked.

I thought about this: I think this new 'Clash' is a good reason why I don't want to see Tony Scott's remake of The Warriors. Call it a hunch, I think that guys like Letterier and Scott are the type of directors who can misinterpret why a certain movie because popular by the populous or beloved by geeks.

I can see Scott's 'Warriors' being all about the action and 'cool factor' like 'Clash' with no ounch of fun or charm.
