Action-Adventure Cobra Kai - (The Karate Kid Spin-Off)

Well, it did not ignore the second movie. It did have the handheld drum Miyagi used to train Dan in the second movie show up.

And he was literally gonna do the chopping of blocked ice.

But I get people saying season 1 was “better” if they had to choose. This season had the typical feeling when a show/movie tries to grow in the second installment and I’m sure it’ll get more appreciated when things come together later.

There's plenty to appreciate here, especially that season finale. The new to the series characters added this season, minus Tory, needed better material.

So this show is just going to ignore 2 and 3? Outside of "Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera, might as well ignore the sequels.

Daniel talked about the short time he himself joined Cobra Kai & they flash backed to Terry Silver training him

Elisabeth Shue is definitely coming back. She was playing coy in that interview.

I guess she’ll be the one to miraculously heal Miguel after his fall.

Everybody seems to be saying that.

Is she a nurse or something? I feel like I’m out of the loop with how she plays into the one to help Miguel instead of just creating more tension between Daniel and Johnny next season.

Or is this based on the fan theory that she’s Tory’s mother?

Daniel said in season 1 that Ali and her current husband are both doctors. They could probably just write her in as Miguel’s physician.

I didn’t even think to think she might be Tory’s mom, that would be a twist. Then on top of that Daniel and his wife’s marriage isn’t looking too healthy either. This would be a great time for her to show up.

I barely remember 2, but I do remember Daniel's love interest from the film, who I did not realize now has a role on the ABC show "The Good Doctor." I don't know if they would bring her back though.

Great season 2. Just finished watching it last night. The final school fight was brutal and it was a shock to see Miguel plummet off the stairs that way.

The mall fight mid season was cool too, with Sam and Robby putting to use all the techniques they had learnt on that floating wheel.

Hawk is turning into a real bully. It's also strange to see Peyton List playing a villain and being so different from her normal innocent characters. She almost comes across as a different person here.

I hope to see Ali come back next season. I hope Elisabeth Shue agrees to join, as it's not like she hasn't been a regular on a TV series before (eg CSI).

I was glad to hear Cruel Summer by Bananarama being played in the last episode, and then hearing the more modern cover of it at the very end. Even though that song was only used briefly in the first film, it has almost become synonymous with the original movie more than any other song used.

I wonder if Johhny and Daniel will team up against Kreese next season? But they really need to sit down and overcome some of their misunderstandings and assumptions, because it will start to get tiring after a while.

Maybe they can also get Terry Silver to be a physical threat to them, because Kreese is getting a bit old to fight.

Yeah, in Hamlet 2, we learned that Elizabeth Shue retired from acting and became a nurse.

Thoughts on season 2 since I finally finished it last night. Overall, very strong. Not as good as season 1, but still a solid sophomore effort that did a good job of not repeating its first season. A little disappointed that Miguel and Robbie took more of a backseat this time (Robbie especially), but that crazy fight they had at the end was awesome. Really that whole sequence was impressive, even if it wasn't remotely realistic (but it's Karate Kid, so who cares). Peyton List was a good addition to the cast, even if her character was a bit cliched. And Hawk really went full psycho this season. He's clearly headed down a dark path with Kreese but part of me hopes he turns away from it. Also, Kreese remains an evil SOB. I loved him in this.

Daniel and Johnny are the biggest highlights again. I'm guessing that season three will see the two of them teaming up and taking on Kreese. Maybe we'll even see Terry Silver return. At the very least, I'm thinking that Ali (Elizabeth Shue) will show up. And it looks like Daniel's marriage is on shaky ground so maybe Daniel and Johnny will even start competing for her affection again, haha. I wouldn't mind that, because I honestly found Daniel's wife really annoying this season. I'm not sure if it's the character or the actress but something about her just rubbed me the wrong way. I'm also not a fan of that stupid guy who joined Cobra Kai and wanted to become the school security guard. I know this show isn't super serious but he was just too much of a joke character. I hope he doesn't come back for season 3.

All in all though, great season. Certainly a much better season than a certain other show I've been watching over the last few weeks that got name dropped a couple times on Cobra Kai. ;)

I kinda hope the angry Japanese dude Daniel fought in Karate Kid 2 makes his way on the show somehow.

That’d be a fun rematch.

The dad from Johnny Tsunami!

I've seen rumors of Silver coming back and I think it could make sense. Kreese contacts him somehow to help him lead the "New/old" Cobra Kai since Johnny isn't around anymore

Something I just realized while watching this show. Isn't it weird that both of the villains from the original Karate Kid movie are named John? Like, did the writer get bullied by a guy named John as a kid and he was getting revenge on him or something?

There are few Ninja Turtles references in Cobra Kai season 2. And I can see those 2 new kids to play Bebop & Rocksteady in the upcoming movie. And Chozen would make an awesome Shredder while Mike Barnes as Hun!

Hopefully we will see Miguel's dad aka The Bad Man in season 3. I do wish it would be played by Pedro Pascal as one of Reddit's post suggest it.

They better get him quick because I feel like the Mandalorian will elevate him from underrated to one of the hottest real quick.

Yeah, I think Pascal is a little too big for something like this. He’s also in WW84, so his career could blow up even further soon.

I enjoyed this season almost as much as the first but I think it would be nice to get back to Johnny and Miguel as the focus. The other storylines are fine but that one is the heart.

I could see them bringing her back. The creators of this show love those movies so why not? Don't remember what reason was given for their break up. At the end of 2, she's basically his girlfriend and Miyagi had rekindled things with his old flame. Then in 3 both are gone, lol.

She's a regular on the upcoming series The Boys (based on the Garth Ennis comic) as well. I don't know why some are acting like she's this super huge mega star that wouldn't possibly consider being on this show, lol.

I think it’s mentioned at the start of 3 she went to dancing school in Tokyo and they couldn’t make the long distance work.

It’s a tradition that Daniel gets dumped at the beginning of each movie off screen.

Maybe Season 3 could start with Daniel receiving divorce papers.

Probably cause she had the best post Karate Kid career than all the others (including an Oscar nom).

Elisabeth Shue has already hinted that she is open to reprising the role and that there may have been talks.

I hope it happens. I think it will, especially with the way this season ended. But I don’t want to see her get together with Johnny. I know he’s a changed man now and it’s great seeing his character growth, but it would almost feel like it undoes the end of the first film. He doesn’t deserve her.
