Quitely is an amazing artist. But he often ends up on comics that don't suit him, and that's how people develop a distaste for his work.

I adored his artwork for All-Star Superman and his work on The Authority (easily one of my favourite comic series of all time), he even drew probably the best arc in the whole thing.

Maybe not wrong, but while reading The Authority he seemed like an odd replacement for Bryan Hitch. It seemed to me that his style was much better suited for All Star Superman.

Two different art styles on the same book might be slightly jarring but I don't see anything wrong with it. I thought Quitely's art fits perfectly with wide screen, over the top super heroes.

I assume you're talking about he arc where they fought The Americans. That may be my favorite arc too, but I really loved Revolutions. I can't decide which one I like better.

I remember the "Stephen Platt" fad when that came along. I never understood it, even thought his art wasnt terrible.

Liefeld was crap. Even Jim Valentino wasn't that good. I never cared for Michael Turner either (God rest his soul)...

I was always a fan of Mark Bagley, Tom Grummett, & some of those "lesser known dudes."

It's not really art because it's tracing, but I hate Greg Land. John Romita JR hit and miss. I like him on Kick Ass, but I hate his work on Avengers. That's some of the worse art I've ever seen.

I've got a friend who'll defend Land to the death when I make a similar statement like your's.

He is such a fanboy of Land's hack realism.

Oh yeah, I've even directed him to threads like this one. His fanaticism's just demented in that he thinks that Land is one of the greatest comic book artists in this day and age and condones his "artistic methods".

We will never see eye to eye when it comes to Land because I just can't pat you on the back for tracing or giving female characters "porn face" in every other panel just to move the narrative along.
