Don't know any "Bertha's". I know a Brenda, an Elaine, a Judy, a couple of Andrea's, a Catherine, a couple of Lisa's, multiple Jennifer's and so on.

how commonn are the names louis , eugene and gene?
[my full name is louis eugene "gene" smith]

I wish I had a more common name, I can never find it on that personalised stuff you get, e.g. mugs, keyrings, stationary

I feel like I'm missing out :(

Apart from those minor disadvantages, it's distinctive to have a rare name.

All depends on which part of the world you're from. SMITH is extremely common in English speaking countries. LOUIS is common in Latin (especially Italian) derivative countries. Eugene/Gene is fairly common in England (why I don't know) and it's colonies. Eugene Levy is a famous Canadian comedian. Gene Autry was a famous American movie actor.

Thank to the advantages of the internet, you can now purchase almost any personalized item for even the oddest of names.

I used to think my name was uncommon... yet somehow my brother-in-law (my husband's only brother) managed to find a woman with the exact same name as mine, right down to the spelling and married her... It makes it very confusing at family functions. Especially since I have no middle name and she hates her middle name. I tried to convince my hubby to call me Red during family get togethers that include her, but he says that is not my name and he wouldn't use it.

My oldest sister married two different men at different times, both of whom were named Jack.

I always try to get people to call me by a nickname, but they never stick :(

well, I only suggested it because a number of other people already call me Red and I would know to look up when I hear it... but hubby doesn't like it.

I don't know what The Tenderloin is, but I'm guessing that was a prostitution joke.
