Comedy Community - Part 4

I also liked Britta more when she they made her dumber. It gave the writers more to work with and made her less of a "Mary Sue love interest" character.

"Dumb Britta" is adorable…

I like her better this way.

I'd say Harmon is just as bad because season 5 was just as bad as season 4 in my opinion if not worse because it was actually rather immature about season 4.

Dude, if your show was on a life line with you and someone even kept it around long enough for you to come back to them, you don't spend a lot of time on trying to discredit half of what they did for you.

That whole handling of season 4 and it's show runners really soured me on Harmon and Season 5 as whole.

But season 4 was awful and out of character and they treated it as such. Harmon is a genius.

I think Season 5 could have been really good if Glover stayed. I like the Repilot and the episodes he was in, but after he left there was a hole that couldn't be filled.

I didn't like Britta until season 2 onward. Season 1 Britta felt like a pretty generic character that you'd find on any sitcom in season 1 and that whole thing ''Will they or won't they?" thing with Jeff didn't help her in season 1 either.

And for the first time in TV history... They didn't. Well, they f**ked, but they were never a couple! :word:

Jeff and Britta were totally a couple. Especially in season 2. You can not tell people all you want, you act like a couple and talk like a couple. You're a couple. It was great how they revealed it through flashbacks though

I loved that they were a couple, but a bad couple... all they did was hook-up a lot.

Really awesome and different for top channel comedy tv show.

That's the one thing I will put on Harmon. Pierce's character went down hill mid way through season 2 when they turned him into "crazy old man who ruins everything" guy. Also, making Brita an idiot. I'm not sure why Harmon did that. S1 Pierce and Britta were far more interesting and better characters.

Agreed. They flanderized the crap out of both Pierce and Britta. No wonder Chevy was so pissed about his character. If Chevy wasn't Chevy, I think people would understand his gripes more.

Yep. People give Chase **** while ignoring the fact that Harmon completely instigated the situation and mismanaged his actors.

Its cause Harmon is the fanboy-friendly exec and Chevy is the guy with the long history of being a jerk. But Chevy being a jerk dosen't mean his problems with the show weren't valid.

Chevy was pissed because he comes from a more old school style of comedy. I recall reading one of those articles where Checy was arguing with Harmon because he wanted to do some physical gag in a scene for laughs and didn't find Harmon's "humor" funny.

Chevy just doesn't to seem to be much of a fan of the more subtle humor in the dialogue. He's more about in your face, physical, Chris Farley kind of comedy.

The thing is however without Season 4 as bad as it was? There would be no season 5. Without those showrunners and what they did by keeping the show on the air for one more year alongside NBC?

Harmon wouldn't have a show to come back to. His response was totally immature. People like to get all on Harmon's dick and say Chevy Chase was the only part of the problem, but Harmon himself seems just as bad as Chevy.

The show WAS genius in season 2 and season 3. Season 1 was a great foundation season. Season 4 was bleh. Season 5 had it's moments but it was not anywhere near better than season 4.

It fell flat with a ton of bland new characters, trying hard to find a new dynamic that worked for the group, the lack of Troy really hurt the show's heart and a majority of that was all on Harmon.

My understanding is Chevy didn't want to do the work literally walking off set and letting an important scene go unfilmed, and Harmon decided to publicly shame him for it. So, Chevy sent a threatening voice message, that Harmon decided to play for a live audience, which led to the creator and mostly singular voice of the show to be fired and the actor who didn't even want to be there stay on. Then Chevy had another outburst this time to the cast members and was finally let go and not allowed to come back to the set. Harmon found the loophole to shoot him by himself on a green screen to do the final hologram appearance. I got no problem considering them both a-holes but throwing more crap at Chevy, unless there's something I missed

Paget Brewster, Keith David join the cast of Community season six

Community has suffered some heavy losses over the past year or so, but, as always, Greendale goes on. And according to The Hollywood Reporter, replacements have been found for departing cast members Yvette Nicole Brown and Jonathan Banks. (Of course, they’re not playing the exact same characters—more like spiritual analogues—because the study room would look so empty otherwise.) Anyway, Paget Brewster has signed on to play Francesca “Frankie” Dart, a consultant who is brought in to whip Greendale into shape, and Keith David is set to play Elroy Patashnik, a retired scientist “who is reinventing himself.”

Brewster is best known for her role on the crime procedural Criminal Minds, where she appeared as Emily Prentiss from 2006 to 2014. She’s no stranger to comedy, however, having co-starred on the short-lived cult sitcom Andy Richter Controls The Universe, provided voices to Harvey Birdman, Attorney At Law, American Dad!, and The Venture Brothers, and appeared on one episode of a little show called Community earlier this year. (She also lent her voice talents to a couple of Batman animated features, which Abed would think was pretty cool.) For his part, David first became famous for his role in Oliver Stone’s Platoon, and has since done a wide variety of TV and movie work, including that ridiculous fight scene in They Live and voice roles on Gargoyles, Spawn, and Adventure Time. (Fun fact: he was also the narrator of that The Bible mini-series we love to make fun of at The A.V Club.) He is most recently known for his role as Sgt. Major Donald Cody on Fox’s Enlisted.

God damn it. Just when I think I'm out, they pull me back in!!!

Is the Yahoo stuff a pay service like Netflix or is it free to stream?

Wasn't Keith David in The Cape?

Also, didn't he do the narration in the pillows and blanket two-parter?

Chevy Chase is returning for season 6

If Chevy's coming back, there's no excuse for Donald Glover not to return for at least one episode.

I doubt he will, he seems to be more into being Childish Gambino now.
