I totally missed the Abed thing, Im so mad at myself now!!! Ima rewatch immediately

I just rewatched it, the Abed storyline is killing me. He gets into a fight with the girl's boyfriend. He dies this crazy exam listening to her stomach and tapping it. Then in Anthropology class you see him reading an Anatomy textbook before the professor comes in.

They really need to do something in this style with Starburns as the main guy.

So this episode was far less funny than just about every other episode in the series.

Still, it had it's moments. The Snr Chang/Prof Duncan forcefield bit had me laughing my ass off, but that was about it.

It wasn't as funny than previous episodes no doubt but, it was little things that made the episode for me. I mean, Abed having his own subplot IN THE BACKGROUND was genius. At one point I had to rewatch the Annie scene with that guy because I was too focused on Abed and the bf getting into a fight in the back that I didn't hear Annies dialogue, lol.

Even Shirley and the fact that pretty much every single piece of her dialogue referenced the fact that Britta and Annie didn't bother to have her participate in their fundraiser...and them not picking up on it was funny as well.

that was fantastic. :awesome:

you think they shoul do a flashback episode before the community college?

I'm sure they will at some point. They've subtly built up some backstory to a lot of the characters, especially Annie.

By the way, here's a video chronicling Abed's baby subplot:

is it true that the numbers are not good enough and that there is a chance that this could get cancelled?

I don't think it's Community. I heard that they were talking about getting rid of that new show Outsourced but nothing about Community.

Good video, but they missed Abed reading the Anatomy book at the start of Anthropology class.

It is in danger, the main concern would be if it would get the final nine episodes ordered. Right now I don't have much confidence it would be renewed for a third season. All depends on what being pitched to NBC. Comedies are making a comeback on network TV but they're not there yet so Community could get a third season.

Last season it didn't have great ratings but it had no lead in so it had to self start which wasn't too bad. Parks & Recreation had the lowest ratings on Thursdays which helped as well. With the Leno fiasco NBC had no midseason replacements so they had nothing to replace either show. Also NBC gave them time to grow, find an audience and get their comedic voice down. (though I liked Parks & Rec's first half of the season better).

Now NBC has four comedies penciled in as midseason replacements
- Parks & Rec (which likely won't get better ratings)
- The Paul Reiser Show (Curb Your Enthusiasm meets Modern Family)
- Friends with Benefits
- Perfect Couples

and Community's ratings haven't grown in the same timeslot.
It may not be outright canceled at first. It may go on hiatus and see if the new shows do better. If we get news that production has stopped then the show will be in trouble.

So enjoy the show and buy the first season on DVD.

Holy ****, that Abed subplot has changed my entire view of this so-so episode. The writers of this show are just on a whole different level than anything else on TV.

OMG! We better not have another Arrested Development situation here!!! And I like Outsourced i think its funny as hell, its first 3 eps have been very solid and funny imo

It is here.

These are the numbers for the first three weeks. If it can maintain numbers over 2.0 in the demo it should quietly survive the season.

5.01 million A18-49 2.2
4.53 million A18-49 1.9
4.20 million A18-49 1.8

Yeah, things look bleak for Community. CBS moving Big Bang Theory into that time slot certainly did not help. I feel like it would do better competing either in Outsourced's slot or swapping with 30 Rock.

If Community gets Arrested Development'd, I'll burn down NBC's lot.

30 Rock has a small loyal (with a segment that is wealthy which allows for higher rates) fanbase which would've followed the series to 8/7c. Its been back and forth before or after The Office and the ratings never took off so it might as well have been put on to establish the night and try to help out Community. Next year will likely be 30 Rock's last year as Alec Baldwin has said he will quit acting in 2012 and Tina Fey says she doesn't see the show lasting too long as it is exhausting writing/performing and would be more than satisfied with six seasons.

Which would **** up NBC bad if The Office and 30 Rock end in the same season. They've made no real effort to replace those shows and it will be another situation like Frasier and Will & Grace who were extended past their prime. I can see 30 Rock ending and NBC propping up The Office for a low rated ninth season .

I must say, I missed the Abed subplot, so I'm gonna need to rewatch. For me, the highlight of the show was Betty White explaining Inception in the tag.

No it's not Abed's kid. Notice he gives the baby to the chick and boyfriend after he delivers it.

But in the beginning she is telling abed something and he's pointing to himself then to her stomach

As far as I know, neither "The Office," or "30 Rock," has ever been known for bringing in a huge audience week-to-week. In fact, i'd say that the only reason 30 Rock is still standing has more to do with its yearly emmy nominations.

As far as i'm concerned, if Parks and Recreations has been able to last this long in spite of their mediocre storytelling and ratings, i'd give Community more than a fighting chance that it'll survive...
