Composer for The Batman

Ludwick G.......I can't spell his name. But you get the gist.

Actually... now that you mention Ludwig Goransson, I think he'd be a pretty sweet pick. He did just win an Oscar for his Black Panther score and he's scoring Nolan's next film instead of Hans Zimmer. His Venom OST definitely has a bit of a Batman vibe to it too!

Granted I still really dig Bear McCreary for the job too!

Nick Arundel and Ron Fish. Composers of Arkahm Asylum and City.

This.

I always consider this to be the definition theme of Batman

And Arkham Asylum's too. If Reeves wants to present a claustrophobic atmosphere, then this type of music is perfect.

I would be surprised if Giacchino does not score the film. Now if that happens I would like someone that has not done a Super hero score like Alexandre Desplat or Gabriel Yared. I would love a fully orchestral score like it's from the 80's or the 70's. I had enough of electronica for Batman.

I would have gone with the obvious (albeit cliché choice) in Elfman, but given his lackluster and half hearted attempts in JL, I’m good on that. Truth be told, I wouldn’t mind Tyler Bates. I think he’s pumped out some good work before and even Howard Shore I think would be a decent choice, though I’m not convinced he could pull off a feat like this. Dream choice though would be John Williams, obviously would never happen but I’d love to hear his take on Batman, given his iconic take on Supes. Besides he proved with Lincoln (IMO anyway) that he’s still got it!

I want choirs and organs.

With all the talk of the noir influence, I'm honestly wondering if Reeves will go more in that direction musically.

A more Batman-ish spin on this style of course (more horns and strings, not so much on the sax) but for some reason I just keep imagining something that would work for a slower paced detective story vs. the more bombastic stuff we've been used to. Basically a style that could work in a more ambiguous mode to serve an unfolding mystery, vs. being in "epic darkly heroic" mode all the time. At least that's where my mind is going when I'm trying to picture how this film is going to distinguish itself.

There is a wealth of great Batman music that's been done. What I'd hope/expect from this film is to give us something fresh that hasn't quite been done with the character musically, vs. simply doing an updated version or hodgepodge of what's been done before. I think each relaunch of the character calls for a new musical "take" that helps define what this iteration is.

My picks would be:
Steve Jablonsky (Bay Transformers)
Henry Jackman (Winter Soldier, Uncharted 4)
Ludvig Forssell (Metal Gear Solid V)
Jared Emerson-Johnson (Batman: The Tell Tale Series)

Joseph Trapanese

Giacchino is showing support for Reeves, but I think he will definitely be hired as the composer eventually.
