Hmm, they should make a "Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser" movie.
As great as REH's Conan is, I feel Fritz Leiber's F&TGM are even better.

Really? Are you sure you've read both authors?

i personally think Howard could out-write Leiber in his sleep. :yay:

As far as Conan goes, I would like to see someone like Jared Paradaleki from Supernatural/ Friday the 13th play him. Young (Conan was around 18 when he left Cimmeria to wander), tall (the guy is 6'4"), and not body builder 'roid monkey, but strong but lean.

He does fit the look of the young Conan that Barry Winsdor Smith drew in the comics a bit.

Not to mention he already has some stunt/ weapons training.

Not saying it HAS to be him. But someone close to that type of look.

Jared Paradaleki, really ?
He doesn't look at all like my two favourite renderings of the character. Frazetta's of course, but mostly John Buscema's.

I also think he sucks as an actor. I hope they'll go for a more mature/older actor for Conan, but I'm sure it'll end up being some young dude like the guy they casted in Thor.

Producers aim for things to be more grounded in this day and age, and making Conan some giant buff mother****er won't fly. The guy they choose will be muscular, but he'll be like Hugh Jackman muscular, not Ah-nold muscular.

I like the Ray Stevenson Idea, Put him on P90X for six months and let him wreck havok on the barbarian world

Please no wrestler as Conan.

And I realize what Conan was about, but I hope if it is like that, it's like 300. Where its really just alot of fun, though it comes down to execution and the script. There's a difference between brainless action films that are good and brainless action films that are just bad.

Who mentioned a wrestler?? Ray Is an awesome actor, watch Rome. When I said let him wreck havok, I was saying let him do what Conan does best, slay his enemies and make the wise seem foolish when it is all said and done.

In which case, if you're a purist, it's a win/win situation which ever look they go for.:yay:

Oh, don't get me wrong, I think they're both fantastic...but I just love the chemistry between Fafhrd and The Mouser.
It'd make for a really cool movie, I think.

To be honest, I really hope this doesn't end up like 300 or similar brainless films. As much as I enjoy 300, it's not what I'd want from a new Conan. Even if you think Arnold's Conan isn't close enough to the comics, at least it was a serious film and not just a mindless action romp. I really hope they take the material semi seriously and don't just make it mindless garbage.

I think I'm in for disappointment though.

Nispel is a somewhat better choice than Ratner, but still kinda meh. Haven't seen any of his rema... films tho.

Well, as long as the film has the same elements that have made the Dark Horse comics written by Kurt Busiek instant classics, I'll be happy.

Wow, so they are doing something in the vein of the Conan with Arnold rather than Conan as written. Ok, I care a lot less now.

Maybe they're trying to find a balance? Some people only know of the character through the movie. but will adhere to more of the Conan mythology than Arnold's did.
