Don't like the casting. I would prefer they stray from any of the Arnold films(and even some of the comics[the ones with original stories anyway]) and focus more on the literary stuff. That's where the gold is. Ray Stevenson looks like he could be a pretty good Conan, but i don't know. As long as he's not this hulking beast of a guy, he'd be fine. Remember, Conan is also a thief and swift, not just a jacked beast of a warrior.

Then again, i'm not that huge a fan of Conan. I always preferred Solomon Kane(the movie sounds like crap), Bran Mak Morn(Worms of The Earth is where it is, folks) and alot of Howard's non-historical fantasy horror stuff, like his Cthulhu mythos stuff. That said, i'd kill for an adaptation of Valley Of The Worm mixed with Richard Corben's graphic novel adaptation of it called Bloodstar. It would be awesome.

I've heard of this guy being cast as Conan before (around 2003), so I think this is just a rumor.

i dotn belive that the new conan will be the guy who plays Arnold

To me he looks like the love child of Arnold and Charles Bronson.
Over all gives me a very bad feeling for the film as it harks back to the error of Singer's Superman film.

Really the reviews I've seen have been positive if not glowing.

For myself I'ld love to see an adaptation of Conan's "Beyond the Black River".

Blah. I think I'm officially done with the anticipation of this film. I see it of course, on DVD or something.

...make mine "The Hour of The Dragon", Howard's only full-length, and arguably best written, Conan novel.

Figured as much. He was mentioned years ago when they were going to do a John Milnus's written and directed take on King Conan, which was meant to be a 'John Rambo' style sequel to the first two films. Roland was going to play Young Conan in the flashbacks, with Arnold playing old grizzled King Conan.

As soon as I seen this, I knew it was not legit. I love the first film, it was awesome for it's time, but I want a Frazetta style Conan now. We have the talent and technology available to do it right.

Glad the rumor was (hopefully) debunked. I really liked Kickinger on Son of the Beach, but I'm hoping that the new film will be a departure from the Arnold movies, so if they did cast Roland, well...

THis Kickiner guy is nothing more than a walking, living Arnold parody. His only purpose is to substitute or iminate Arnold.

Jared Paradaleki from Supernatural/ Friday the 13th play him. .

I think he's too pretty to play Conan. A little facial hair, color his hair darker, give him some more muscle and some scars...and I'll reconsider.

He get's pretty beaten up on Supernatural, and Conan isn't really some Gargoyle, either. Jared could pass for a Barry Windsor Smith or Cary Nord depiction of Conan, if he was dressed properly.

I've always had this thought about Conan- he should look like he stinks. His hair should be matted and stringy, maybe he has bad skin-definitely some scars.

If not Conan, he could be a very good He-Man or Lion-O.

Battle scarred yes, but stinky with matted and stringy hair, and bad skin.....no!

In his world barbarism is the honorable state and civilization the decadent. Conan's appearance should speak to that. His look should epitomize a health and stamina that is granted by the nature of his wild heritage.

Just a quick job.......he looks the part

Concidering the day's that Howards books are written, I'm sure even the pretty people stunk.

Just looking at how Frazetta depicted Conan; he has a grizzled, worn face - kinda like Daniel Craig.

They need to look at people who look like that - we dont want no prettyboys playing Conan.
