I hope there are none. Let this movie be its own thing.
Shang-Chi has a lot of spy connections in the comics. I believe it is MI-6 rather than SHIELD, but I could definitely see something there.
Nothing against S.W.O.R.D. but I would prefer Shang Chi stay a little more grounded. Nothing the matter with him being associated with MI6.Would be nice to have S.W.OR.D finally introduced to the MCU. I actually thought S.W.OR.D would be a good spy agency replacement for MI6.
What's the point of having SWORD without making it space-related? They've already used STRIKE but they could use Mi-13, WHO, RCX, or Black Air instead if they want a British equivalent of SHIELD.Would be nice to have S.W.OR.D finally introduced to the MCU. I actually thought S.W.OR.D would be a good spy agency replacement for MI6.
I'd like to see Shang Chi's supporting characters/ rogue gallery that we haven't seen before in the mcu.I hope there are none. Let this movie be its own thing.
You make a good argument against SWORD.One i have to agree with itWhat's the point of having SWORD without making it space-related? They've already used STRIKE but they could use Mi-13, WHO, RCX, or Black Air instead if they want a British equivalent of SHIELD.
I'm hearing rumors that the main vilian of this movie could end up being the Mandarin! And the 10 rings in the MCU are crime organizations he secretly controls and runs. That would be a fun twist!
Shang-Chi first appeared in Special Marvel Edition #15 in December 1973, hatched by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin. The script will modernize the hero to avoid stereotypes that many comic characters of that era were saddled with. The comic launched around the time that Enter the Dragon became a global sensation and martial arts films raged. In the comics, Shang-Chi is the son of China-based globalist who raised and educated his progeny in his reclusive China compound, closed off to the outside world. The son trained in the martial arts and developed unsurpassed skills. He is eventually introduced to the outside world to do his father’s bidding, and then has to come to grips with the fact his revered father might not be the humanitarian he has claimed to be and is closer to what others call him: The Devil’s Doctor. He also might be centuries old. The deceit makes them bitter enemies.
Love Randall Park and his performance on AM&TW but I disagreed with the way they wrote his character. I was afraid that they would make Jimmy Woo a comic relief character and that's exactly what they did.
Honestly, the reason not to use the British equivalent is the geopolitical situation is entirely different. Shang-Chi was created when the UK owned Hong Kong. That is no longer the case.
The Chinese equivalent would be SPEAR, iirc.
I'm not actually aware of what the acronym is if anything. Maybe the acronym is actually spelling Mao (矛).Why would the Chinese use an English acronym that spells SPEAR? Notice that all of the names in China aren't English words. They wouldn't have something so Western-centric.
Why wouldn't they have an organisation that either spells out a Mandarin word or is just a bunch of letters - eg XPF.
