Constantine General Discussion Thread - Part 1

The ratings Constantine gets on NBC would be good by Syfy's standards so I could see why they might want to pick it up.

In terms of budget it might be cheaper if they move the production to Canada or something.

They are thinking of renaming it 'Hellblazer' and exploring the darker aspects of that universe.

Sounds good

Sounds good

I'm sure they'll find a way to keep it filming in the ATL

I dont see how filming in Atlanta is costly, but my opinion maybe skewed because Im a local.

The problem is it probably won't get a chance to be moved to the Syfy channel or the CW. It's really rare that a show gets another shot and is moved to a different network. I went in to this show knowing it would be cancelled from the get go but was hoping that I'd be wrong.

NBC was wrong network for a show like Constantine. I think SyFy would been an okay network but would done a thousand times better on CW. Alas it doesn't matter because I highly doubt it will get renewed for season 2 and moved to a different network which is a shame cause the show gets better and better with each episode.

I should of said as long as the tax incentives remain in Georgia

Many shows film in Georgia due to the tax incentives which is partly why there has been a film and television production boom in Atlanta in particular in recent years.

There has also been investment with Pinewood Atlanta studios opening last year.

I caught up on the show today. One thing, why do they let him smoke now? I didn't think they were going to do that, and they were only going to have hints. Now they actually show him lighting up the cigarette and smoking.

They probably realized it was stupid. They have characters smoke on other NBC shows so it always seemed odd that they were so on the fence about Constantine smoking.

I'd still call that hinting. They never really show him light a cigarette, they always manage to obscure that very moment and he always puts it out after drawing single smoke. Also, he never has a half-smoked cigarette in his mouth, even when we're supposed to believe that he lit it up some time ago. It's always single draw and then stubbing out or throwing away a perfectly good cigarette.

It's kind of annoying actually, as it's very obvious that they're faking it.

Except the CW has 0 repeat 0 need for the show when they still have Supernatural. The CW isn't the be all end all.

Though that show really overstayed its welcome. It was supposed to end five seasons ago. I'm not sure if it has half of the audience it used to have at this point.

If they end it with this season, then there would be an empty slot for "Constantine", though, since two shows are too similar to each other, I believe they'd decide to pass on it anyway.

Supernatural's ratings have actually been going up, while other shows have been going down. So there's still an audience, which is why it's one of their flagship shows.

No ****. They already passed on doing Supergirl

****'s sake... people just like to watch the same storyline going round and round again it seems. It has become mind-numbing.

I remained loyal to the show even in its unplanned sixth season, which already showed significant drop in quality and lack of any new ideas, and have even stayed up until season eight (though that one I watched in a row while being sick in bed and having nothing better to do, otherwise I wouldn't), but enough is enough.

They did, huh?

Well, I can't blame them for that.

The CW didn't pass on Supergirl, guys. :o

I would love for this to live on at SyFy. Any cable channel, really, will let them explore some of the darker stuff.

*puts on old lady voice* I unfriend you :o

Jokes aside, SPN really did disappear down the rabbit hole with S6 and will probably die there should Ackles and/or Padelecki finally say "**** it! We had a good run."

Meh, I'm still finding Supernatural entertaining. Never miss it.

As long as it's not HBO I'll be happy.

I don't think I'll be able to stand John having sex 3 times per episode just to be reminded that "It's not a television, it's HBO". That's literally what they are doing with most of their shows.

I would love it if AMC picks it up, but I don't see that happening. Just having the AMC name next to it will bring millions of viewers.

:funny:

This is true.

Except we never actually see him smoke. We have seen him exhale smoke without a cigarette being in the scene, he has put them out, not having seen him use it, we have seen him with a cigarette in his mouth, both lit and unlit, but never has he inhaled (and exhaled) from a cigarette.

These are the clever ways they got around that ridiculous "no smoking" rule they had. He's never technically puffed on a cigarette. It's always been some part of the process.

And I do hope they move it onto SyFy or some other network. It would be a shame to cancel it and not go forward with it.

I'm pretty sure The Wire had less sex scenes even during the last two seasons.

Still, the only way HBO would ever get on the DC bandwagon is if Time Warner strongarmed Michael Lombardo into it.

I would love it if it moves to AMC, but I don't think this is even a possibility.
