Constantine General Discussion Thread - Part 1

Except the CW has 0 repeat 0 need for the show when they still have Supernatural. The CW isn't the be all end all.

Really um really three shows on CW are Supernatural related. Supernatural, The Originals, The Vampire Diaries. Further more Arrow and The Flash could be considered repeats of one another. Also CW was going to do a spin off series for Supernatural. Which says they are looking to find a series to fill that gap once Supernatural departs the air waves. So your argument that CW won't go for a repeats is severally flawed.

I don't disagree that CW isn't the end all. However there few networks where Constantine would do best. CW would have been the best place for the series.

It doesn't matter if Constantine gets cancelled that will be that. Almost all shows that get cancelled never get a second chance. Most shows that get a second chance usually don't make it. I know of very few shows that where on the verge of being cancelled almost never gets moved. Those are just the facts.

Now I'm not saying the show dead and won't get renewed but it's looking very very slim.

Then the show would be better off dead than be sent there.

Really? Come on, despite the love triangles crap, most fans still enjoy Arrow and the Flash. Constantine's characters are older, but even if John is involved in some triangle with Zed and lover X, the show could still be decent. Anyway, if it goes to SyFy, it should not be a problem, but who knows! lol

I don't care how this show survives. I just want it to survive. It is just getting better and better.

I actually hope it survives as well. It seems like one of those shows that would just get better and better as it goes along.

It had a slow start for sure.

And I'm still kinda hoping it'll get to be darker and more ballsy, in vein with "Hellblazer" comics, if it gets to have season 2.

Tone is tough for a show like this. Especially on network television. But they really found their groove, and they have the perfect John. It would be such a waste to lose him from the role. Plus, they have been very successful with the rest of the crew. Manny, Zed and Chas are very endearing imo.

Matt Ryan wants to do the serial killer Family Man arc if there is a season 2 :woot:

“I also love, and what could be a possibility for Season Two I think, is the Family Man arc. What I like about that is, it’s not John dealing with demons and devils, it’s him dealing with human beings and I think that’s a very interesting place for John. I think there’s actually a line in the comic where he says, ‘Demons, devils I’m fine with, but the real life, the real problems that human beings have.’”

Damn, I hope this happens.
A move to another channel and ditching the episodic format (how braindead are TV producers who keep insisting on that???) is just what this needs to live up to its own inherent potential.

Try telling folks who are against the CW as I am via facebook that

Reminds me of one of the earlier seasons of Supernatural where they actually ran into just plain, normal humans who were killing people. That was messed up to them. How to handle people killing people, not monsters killing people.

Let's get to the Dangerous Habit's arc on TV and then we'll talk.

Good call Fallen.

Though, with the fake smoking I kinda have trouble seeing them go there.

Now, joke aside, they might want to avoid that storyline for a while because it was also the basis of "Constantine" movie.

Thus it can be a S3 story should we get past the Family Man and (hopefully) the Golden Boy stuff

This seems perfect.

So many great storylines, so many potential... it would really be a shame if they cancel it. I feel that, now when it has finally found its rhythm, show can only get better in season 2.

By the way, when is a reasonable time to expect any news dropping regarding the season 2?

This is because you and every one else don't understand the differents between a production company and Network. CW is a network who airs TV shows they only care about ratings. If show makes the grade they will keep it on there network. Studios are the ones who actually make the show. They care about making money that will keep the show on the network.

In short if a love triangle where to happen on Constantine it would have nothing to do with Network; it would all be on the studio who write and produce the show.

There are many shows on CW that don't have love triangles. The biggest one that doesn't have that at all is Supernatural. So Constantine could carry on the CW just as it is with no changes. The only difference is that it has much stronger chance of Surviving then on NBC.

It really doesn't matter any way. If the show gets cancelled the chances of it being moved any where will be so astronomically small it's not even worth talking about.

Also you think it will survive better on SyFy. Well let me be blunt it will have even less of a chance of Surviving. SyFy stopped being SyFY years ago. They don't play these types of shows for the most part and ones they do have are of poor quality and not worth watching. SyFy has become about reality shows and wrestling.

If Constantine where to be moved to SyFy it would slip fade away and die slowly. Most people wouldn't realize that it was still on the air. The ones that did would watch it but due to lack of money the production company would have to take short cuts and thus quality of show would get worse. This would eventually lead to viewers to stop watching and lead to the show being cancelled.

You want to know how I know this? It's because almost all the shows that aren't Reality or wrestling suck or have been cancelled. I rather see it die off then moved to SyFy. I used to live on SyFy channel and now I don't watch it because it stopped being the SyFy channel. They sold out and sold out people like me who loved SciFi shows.

Again it doesn't matter cause it will not be moved. More then likely it will be cancelled and that will be that.

Daniel Cerone and his team are the producers of Constantine (along with Warner Bros. Television) NBC simply finances and airs the show on their network.

When DVD set is released the money from those sales will go to WB TV and producers of the show, NBC would not get anything out of it (as far as I understand.)

Moving the show to CW will just result in change in the budget available to the show.

I think the options available to this show are fairly limited-

NBC will move it to SyFy (slim chances), WB will take it to CW (may not happen as their own show Supernatural is still going on) or WB will take it to NetFilx (they may not show interest as they have numerous Marvel shows lined up.).

I can't think of any other alternative.

Amazon was who I thought would save the show if anyone was going to. They're the only ones running the show in the UK (and probably a lot of other places).

What does Supernatural have to do with anything. I mean CW picked up The Flash even though They have Arrow. Also Supernatural only has maybe one more season before it ends.

Not that it doesn't matter. I don't think it will get another chance. All we can do is hope that Constantine gets a second season.
