Constantine General Discussion Thread

I wish they'd have named the show Hellblazer, but I can see how the other is safer. I'm not really familiar with Daniel Cerone so I don't know what to expect, but if they make Constantine British and actually pronounce his name correctly I'll probably give it a chance. I'm just really worried about what this means about Del Toro's project.

If it is a Constantine like the one in Hellblazer then it would fit in perfectly alongside NBC's Hannibal and would be great .If its going to be a tv budget version the Keanu Reeves movie mixed with some boring police procedural then it will suck.

Give me the swaggering, morally grey, ex-Punk rocker, tortured, hard living, con-man Constantine.

Keanu Reeves? As CONSTANTINE? That is the worst casting ever. They'd cast him and he'd end up being American with black hair for no reason whatsoever. DC would never allow that to happen.

This is sarcasm right?

It's gonna be undoubtedly the New 52 version, whcih I love.

i am really surprised it didn't go on cw it could be the next supernatural which is cw's best show hands down

I liked the movie even knowing how much it altered the established canon, which I know little of. I do know it's more a cable or even "premium" cable kind of story though maybe NBC can push the limits and make it work.

If not it'll live a short, bland life before going away.

I think that's why they didn't. CW didn't want another 'supernatural' show even though it's the last season for it

I don't remember seeing this is the last season of Supernatural. In fact the last I had read they said we could see it going on through however long they had stories and the actors willingness to continue.

Weren't they trying for Supernatural to reach the 10th season? I'm sure that will be the end and they put all their bets and planed endgame on that one.

Amazing recent developments for DC properties! Two of my favorite characters to live action! Flash and Constantine!

Although I would like it to be on cable, hearing it would be on NBC was a bit of a letdown. Also cable attracts better actors. At least it isn't on CW.

I think Supernatural will be on its last season (that's what I last heard). I think a spin-off will likely happen.

I hope Constantine will keep his origin story intact. Bring on Mucuos Membrane!

Paul Bettany for the win!!

P.S. Zatanna anyone?

Surprising news. It could be cool if done right. Let's hope this can be on the same playing field as Hannibal.

I know I'm gonna sound like a typical fanboy, but had this been 10 to 15 years ago, James Marsters would have been my pick. Spike was already kind of Constantine-esque anyway. I hear his voice when I read JL Dark.

just get paul bettany

no brainer

James Masters would of made a great Constantine if he wasn't Spike who is alot like Constantine.

I don't see Paul Bettany playing Constantine on TV unless its a high quality show like Hannibal.

Joe Anderson from The Crazies, The Grey and Horns would be a good choice for TV Constantine plus he looks like Sean Murphy's Constantine.

Supernatural series creator Eric Kripke has said Castiel from Supernatural's appearance is based on John Constantine which wouldn't be in CW's favour if a Constantine show was also on that network.

I have a feeling the studio guys will base this on the terrible Americanized Keanu Reeves version rather than the real British punk/barfly/ne'er-do-well Constantine.

There's a three season story arc planned from 8-10, with a possible spin-off happening. But the president of the CW is a really big fan of the show, I mean hell look at all these new promos that are being done. They been photoshopping the same photos for the last three seasons. So the show could just as well go to seasons 11, 12 and 13.

Though while I would like the show to wrap up at 10, it would make a nice sort of sense if it ended on 13.

Im hoping for Joel Kinnaman for Constantine

Anyone who says this should have been on cable needs to watch Hannibal. Some of the creepiest stuff I have ever seen on TV

even tho he is'nt british i say get Mark Pellegrino(Supernatural,LOST,Being Human)

Please let Zatanna guest star. I've always liked their interactions. Isn't Law & Order: SVU on NBC to? That show pushes things pretty far.

The promos for Dracula look pretty good too, another NBC product.

If that does indeed end up happening, I probably won't watch it. Stick to the source material.
