Marvel Studio's films being connected really makes it hard to integrate films that are R-Rated
For different styled PG-13, a gritty movie following real world story logic would still be hard to do since this isn't the basis past films really go towards (Endgame I think is an example of how all things tie together story logic/realism wise). A more niche styled film could be made but Marvel Studio's I don't think will go that route unless representing in some way. Even then, the film will still be 4 Quadrant style.
It is not in Kevin Feigi's professional/personal image to be producing films that go outside of the range of movies that have been made so far. He is a risk taker but is also very proper. He doesn't like to be caught on camera as a different character other than himself. He's also very specific how he says things and is a master PR man and strategizer employing a team based philosophy that goes under the creative umbrella that is Marvel Studio's guidelines.
I want to add I remember when the announcement of Disney purchasing Fox went viral. There was a Max thread on these boards I suggested perhaps having a different department handle this and wasn't the time as everyone totally wanted to shut Fox out on these boards and got a reply saying something like "um..I'm pretty sure it's Marvel Studios" when suggested that extra personnel may be utilized to head a different department under Marvel Studios for R-Rated content.
I saw it was to no avail to suggest perhaps Marvel Studio's could be more than just hands-on productorial output produced by Kevin Feige if an R-Rating. A separate department could still exist under Disney for this that could be under Marvel Studio's but we've all seen how Marvel TV and Marvel Studio's play ball so would it turn out better if it's Marvel Studio's own 2 internal departments? This type of risk would avoid putting Kevin Feige on the hot seat doing R-Rated button pushing content but not Disney... Therefore, yeah I think this whole concept is DOA at least theatrical release wise.
