Countdown to the Suicide Squad

22 days until the Suicide Squad

I would assume Jim Lee made this specifically with film in mind, right?

I could believe that it's a coincidence almost all members from film are here, if there wasn't for Croc, who was never a part of the squad before.

Yeah, I'd imagine the decision to focus on this particular roster in the new SS Rebirth series was informed by the movie.

You might want to get your hands on the Harley Quinn and the Suicide Squad April Fool's Special, which is a precursor to the aforementioned book. I haven't picked it up myself yet, but I'm considering it. On a related note, the rotund version of Waller appears to be back as well.

^ I just read the SS April Fool's special. Forget what I said. It's shockingly bad. Skip this one!

Anyone recommend any quick reads I should read before the movie? I've never read much DC before

Yeah, huh? It's a shame. I noticed that Croc reads E. M. Nathanson's novel in that pic, by the way... I don't think it's hard to guess that it's meant to be "The Dirty Dozen".

And I like Katana's outfit, though I prefer the more distinctively samurai-like pauldron and vambrace she has here (I put it in spoiler, to avoid posting pics that are not part of the countdown):

But if this was too archaic for the film, they could have gone with something a bit more modern like in that panel you posted. I vastly prefer both of these to the movie costume.

Good catch! I wasn't even aware that Crock is literate.

To be frank, I'm not all that impressed with any of the costumes except for a few outfits worn by Leto's Joker.

I do like the dark and seamy look of Gotham's underground, however, as it appears to have taken some inspiration from the Arkham games, specifically the first two.

Now that you mention it, it is a bit odd that he is literate. Maybe he was just looking for pictures. :hehe:

Same here, I'm not crazy about costumes. I kinda like that they give a real world, gritty feel, but they could have been more creative with them and still retain that while going for something that is visually more interesting.

Indeed. Some shots look as if they're taken directly from these games.

I love that design. Especially the blue-ish, pale skin that almost blends with the mask. It gives her a ghostly, supernatural look.

I agree entirely. Assuming these outfits carry over into the next Batman movie, where Robbie, Leto and other SS cast members are more than likely to reprise their roles, some tweaks/updates are definitely in order. Better yet, they can start afresh!

Any chance you guys upload the Ostrander run on youtube?

I'm on #18 for the new 52 version.
