When it comes down to it DAWN is a remake in name only. They flat out ignored Romero's rules and didn't even have any of the characters from the original hence why it's on the list. It's more of a bad homage. DAY OF THE DEAD the remake will be joining that list soon enough.

Break Romero's rules, it's not a remake. Simple as that.

Dawn of the Dead remake is a great movie.

Dawn of the Dead remake is a great movie.

I thought that the first few times, but going back to the source material. It's an utter disgrace and I'm with Romero:

George A. Romero is quoted as saying of the film, "It was better than I expected. [...] The first 15, 20 minutes were terrific, but it sort of lost its reason for being. It was more of a video game. I'm not terrified of things running at me; it's like Space Invaders. There was nothing going on underneath."

The director's cut was slightly better but in either cut there was no reason to care about the characters. They were more paper thin then the slasher victims in a FRIDAY THE 13TH movie, which again is something Romero was about.

If you're going to do a remake, you're suppose to improve on the original, which the NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 89 remake did and DAWN failed to do.

I thought the Night of the Living Dead remake wasn't as good as the original.

I thought the Night of the Living Dead remake wasn't as good as the original.

It wasnt as good as the original when it came to the psychological elements of being isolated and acting in my opinion was more realistic. I still appreciate the remake though, as far as remakes go it was pretty solid. Original had the better ending too, such disappointment to live through all that only to get shot by some redneck.....

then why did you vote for it? you're supposed to be voting for the CRAPPIEST remake...

...the people (purposefully) voting Dawn of the Dead need to have their heads examined. that's one of the best movies on this list. if i could revise this list i would take Dawn of the Dead off...
Not really. The movie is crap.

Having seen most of these cinematic travesties, only "The Grudge" truly infuriated me. It was so dull and lifeless. That godawful ending, where the police dude says "Don't worry chief, we saved the house!" became notorious with my sister and I.

Of the rest that I've seen up there only "Psycho" and "Wicker Man" were complete duds. But "Wicker Man" was oddly hilarious, and "Psycho" was at least semi-interesting from a comparative stance.

The Ring 2 was the worst horror movie re-make, and possibly the worst movie i've ever seen in my life. :o

Go with the Omen remake.

Not good at all ......... the original is wonderful.

Why isn't there an "other" option. I'd say the Blob remake with Kevin Dillon was worse than the ones I've seen on this poll.

how is Halloween on here? it comes out the 31st right?

It's also the only remake to bring back everybody that was originally tied into the original's production.

I do agree about the ending. The original has the superior ending, but then again each film speaks of its time. The ending in that case spoke to 89-90s sentiment something that was carried over into LAND.

The Wicker ****ing Man. I would rather watch Trapped in the Closet for eternity than to suffer through this **** again.

BTW I wish Seth MacFarlane directed this ****, at least the flash-backs would have SOME purpose.

Hills have eyes was good...the sequel......ehh

Hills have eyes was good...the sequel......ehh

A month of writing and lack of actual fear or gruesomeness. Proof that it's time for Wes to focus elsewhere. Though I still hold out for A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET prequel by him.

Just depends on if he wants to deal with New Line Cinema again I suppose. If he doesn't I suppose it falls back into the open game prequel territory.

i think the black xmas remake was hands down the absolute worst . i was so embarassed to be in the movie theatre watching this , its a complete insult to anyone who watches it .

are they gonna remake every horror movie now , whats going on here ?

Well, Halloween's out now, so I'm bumping...

apparently you have confused this with "Land of the Dead," or maybe you have made it to an advanced screening of "Day of the Dead," its ok mistakes are made....
Nope, after DOTD, I have no interest in watching those two movies.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre-starring Renee Zellwegger completely sucked!
