Civil War Crossbones

main might not mean person in charge, might just mean most screen time, be awesome if he's working for Zemo

If it's true then it would be cool to see Crossbones back and fully costumed up this time. I wonder if he'll start out locked away but then broken out in a jail break similar to how a lot of villains were broken out in the Civil War comic?

By Sin. Yeah, Crossbones has never really been "mastermind" material. He's a mercenary/henchmen-type of guy.

I think he'd look better with a shaved head, but if he gets the black and white skull mask to hide his disfigurements I will be thrilled.

God, no. Crossbones works for Red Skull, plain and simple. Having Crossbones without Red Skull is like having Harley Quinn without The Joker. His nickname is even tied directly to Schmidt: (Red) Skull and Crossbones. That's the joke. That's why Skully gave it to him, and made him his right-hand man.

Considering that Crossbones has only worked for Hydra post Red Skull, then it would seem pretty convoluted to write that in now. Going with someone like Zemo would probably be simpler and more straight forward.

Also I doubt a pun is integral to his character.

we know from grillo that he signed a multi deal with marv...so there is more flesh upon this rumor and brühl will be zemo., and the dr strange rumour is false.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Brock Rumlow was never a SHIELD agent/ undercover HYDRA goon who worked directly alongside Captain America in the comics either, nor did he work for Alexander Pierce. And "Crossbones" is such an obvious bad guy moniker that there are like a thousand different ways that he could come up with that name besides it being tied to the Red Skull.

Grillo said he'd like to take on the role, too.

Where did he say this?

I think he should've been saved for Punisher instead of Crossbones. Anyone else could've played Rumlow since he hides his face under a mask most of the time.

Anyway, I hope he comes back for Cap 3.

I love how much you're in denial about basic canon.
Crossbones is known for one thing, and one thing only: being Red Skull's right hand man. Like I keep saying, having Crossbones without Red Skull is like having Harley Quinn without Mister J. Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

There will be millions upon millions of people sitting in cinema seats seeing Crossbones as the further development of Brock Rumlow from the TWS, I doubt they care about what happened in the books.

I really doubt Crossbones is the main villain. This is just "news" buried in the Bruhl casting and Fleming assuming since no other main villain was names then Crossbones who we know is coming back is the "main" one if Bruhl is not. There's been no official info about what kind of role CB plays or who the main villain is.

Fleming also reported when EVC was cast that Sharon was the female lead and BW was rumored to have some role in the movie. That was reported just a couple of months before shooting when the script was already done where BW was already the main female lead and Sharon was actually a late substitute in for a nameless female agent.

It's all guesswork by reporters.

Moreover I just don't see CB as main villain material, he's a goon. I also don't see Marvel making Grillo a main villain. Especially not after having Redford.

Agreed. Crossbones is a henchy, pure and simple. He'll work for whomever the main villain is (and if it's not Red Skull, it's a complete and utter failure of epic proportions :argh:).

But in the final analysis, any "villain" is secondary to the main antagonist, and we all know full well that's Tony. Any Red Skulls, Zemos, Crossbones, and whoever else will be purely incidental to the Civil War mainline.

I'm not "in denial" about anything, so stop with that nonsense. You have this obsession with the idea that "it was this way in the comics, so they will absolutely do it that way in the films." And the simple fact is that Marvel has already proven time after time that that's simply not the case. They will change things from the comic if they think that it will better fit their FILM universe. Is Crossbones working for SHIELD, directly alongside Cap, "canon" to the comics? No it's not, and yet they did it anyway. I could list all of the other changes that they've made, but we'd be here all day.

And Crossbones is an obscure comic book character that was unknown to 99% of the GA (who make up the bulk of the audience for these films). And most of them still probably only know him from the movie, so they're unaware of his connection to Red Skull in the comics. So said connection is irrelevant in the context of the FILMS. Comic book fans, which make up a TINY fraction of the people who see this movies, know about that. So Marvel is not going to obsessively stick to the comics just to please them if they think that making changes will help their FILM universe.

Oh and the Crossbones/Red Skull connections is NOWHERE near as important/iconic as the Joker/Harley Quinn one. There in no way comparable and it's ridiculous to try and do so.

If Civil War is the main story/plot I could see Crossbones being the initial main baddy but doubt this will be the case.

Is there a way to "like" a post.

Canon has nothing to do with it. If that were the case they wouldn't be making a Civil War movie at all without Spider-Man or Sue Storm and Reed Richards.

Saying "Crossbones is only known for being the Red Skull's henchman" is entirely irrelevant since The Winter Soldier was the vast majority of the audience's first exposure to Rumlow any way.

If Crossbones is known for one thing, it's killing Cap. He'll work for anyone with the right money, whether that be Skull, Zemo, or Tony.

Everybody's wrong. Crossbones isn't the main villain. Neither is Zemo. It's Sharon. She's the ***** who kills Steve, which automatically makes her the Big Bad.*

Last report said he's rumored to have a skull helmet similar to the look used in Army of Two.
