Yup. People always get confused because they confuse pupil with active X-Men team member. Jean was first to get in contact with Xavier but not to be recruited as a team member.

Ugh...this to me sounds like X3 in that they are trying to stuff this movie with tons of characters in which most of them will get no development. How is this movie any different than the other X-Men movies? Wolverine was the star in those anyways.

yea i'm kinda worried about the main x-men's ages as well, but as far as I know none of us here are sure yet when the respective scenes play out, Storm's young days could play out earlier in the saga compared to "20 year old" Scott's does. Im of course hoping that Gambit is not older than any of the senior X-men.

Im fine with Emma being that much older considering she *is* older than any of the X-men in the comics, she just had some work done.

The movieverse may be different though. It wasn't explicitly clear that Jean was the first pupil. She might have been. But Beast is older, thus likely to have been an earlier recruit.

True... but with any of the X-Men films, there can only be a few main characters. Others get sidelined - look at poor Jubilee! I think a couple of characters needed more scenes in X3 (Angel and Phoenix definitely) but we couldn't expect to see much more of Juggernaut, Multiple Man, Spyke, Psylocke. I'd like to see Psylocke in X4 though, having survived the Alcatraz disaster by teleporting away in the nick of time.

Oh definitely, everything in movieverse is up in the air.. I was referring to Comics cannon and I think the other guy was as well.

Honestly, I think that the scenes with Storm and the scenes with Cyclops/Emma are in two different time periods.

Uh, who decide how many cameos is too many in an X-MEN movie? I'm sure there were just as many in X2 and no one complained then (particularly afterwords). I just don't like people to get worried and complain about things when they're still not understood. Of course, this stems from some of the uncertainty, which I believe optimism is the option to go into.

I mean, to me, what made the X-Men franchise (comics, games, cartoons included) so interesting is waiting to see what other MARVEL characters will pop up to add to the story.

I mean, if not in a film like this, when and where will we ever see them?

They are almost unrecognizable. From what I hear Cyke just wears a blindfold and Emma uses her second mutation. Its either this or random power kid. They tease the fans with a cameo that will probably (hopefully) be so small that the continuity of it doesnt even need to be kept.

Xavier and Magneto's exchange during the opening scene of X-men 3 might be one of the few clues to this mystery in the X-men trilogy.

Magneto: We're not gonna be meeting every single one of them personally are we?
Xavier: No, but this one is special.

I don't know...this to me suggests that Jean was the first one they ever visited. Or that could be read some other way entirely and suggest that they have been meeting up with other students previously and Jean is one of the special ones, along with Scott, Beast, and Storm. Of course the scene could have been written without really expecting fans like us to try to decipher what it actually meant... LOL

I'm still hoping none of the (potential) X-men members (ie. Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Gambit, cross paths.

Btw how old was that actor that played Jason Stryker in X2, and how old was the character supposed to be? I'm thinking they cast him, regardless of age, because the guy is scary as **** without even trying! HAHAHA! I remember at one point they were gonna get actor Kevin Dillon, so that might be a clue as to the age group that the character would have been.

Doesn't Betsy's teleportation powers work using shadows and such? That always irked me in the Alcatraz set when Psylocke just appeared out of nowhere, as if phasing thru the wall.

Yes sir it does appear hokey and it does seem that they are cramming in all of these cameos just for that extra kick that it doesn't need

I would say more cautionary because I don't want this movie to suck and my mindset is still on X3 which I less than loved and it was full of cameos and it was full of made up mutants with wrong names so I don't want this movie filled with characters thrown in there just to be there. Wolverine's past is filled with many mutants but some of them on the list of characters were never there or shouldn't be there.
