The Amazing Spider-Man Daefoe slams TASM

Well the Green Goblin did create a costume, otherwise where would he have found that helmet? His suit and machine made sence, the people who knew of its existence were probably killed, maybe he could have added some things to the suit in order to make it visually distinct from what was shown before, but it still made sence, i mean, with a suit already ready why make another?

The purpose of disguising his identity, showing he is the Green Goblin, and not everybody found him ridiculous.

In a nutshell, both TASM and SM1 were made because of how profitable they were. There were some fans involved in the production (actors, directors) but all in all, neither was made just to cherish the character.

Absolutely

If only for the purpose Peter could have worn a paper bag with eye holes.

Not only GG costume could have been better, it NEEDED to have been better. Protecting his identity wasn't the only purpose of Green Goblin, but looking scary or at least high-tech (the suit came from Oscorp, not some costume rental).

THe suit was high tech, very protected. And to be fair the Green Goblin never seemed scary, even in the comics he just comes off as comedic in his look, his original mask and costumes looks like it was bought in a costume rental, in the film it was more metalic, looked expensive and the kind of stuff a military organizations would have, the mask probably not but it was still something that protected against impact and protected in the sky.

Except that the mask looked plastic.

Well, Spider-man's suit also looked like that in comics. Fortunately, directors understand that you cannot do it exactly like it looks in comics or else it would look cheap (no matter what the actual cost might have been).

But the movie itself suggested that GG looks scary (Aunt May's nightmare, the scary music that goes with the character).

Other than the mask it looked high-tech, but nothing like the character has ever looked, nothing like what the character is supposed to be (a goblin). And I don't know any military organization having done a plastic looking mask like that.

No it doesn't, it looks quite hardcore

Maybe because he just broke into an old woman's house, and in that scene he actually looked threatening

I'm sure that if something like that happened to anybody in real liefe that person would have nightmares

The way the character flew in his glider and fought really reminded me of classic Spider-man, and what more do you want to make him look like a goblin? He's already green and has the head of one, you could add some more purple, but he still looks like a goblin, even has his trick bombs. He could also have a handbag like in the comics, but that doesn't really make him threatening, quite the oposite.

Just to clarify, I was talking about the decision to make GG look "grounded". If the hero is wearing a comic book costume then I fully expect the villain to wear one too. In SM1 Rami did not truly embrace the comic book feel, only parts of it.

I'm sorry, but that does look like plastic to me. The design of the Goblin face is good, but the material makes it look like a cheap Halloween costume.

I've always thought the suit would have looked much better if it was a more traditional flight suit that Norman attacked with neon green spray-paint. Makes more sense for both the origin of the suit and the Goblin's personality.

I'm guessing there was a lot of limits on the suit for the effects of the time. The suit smacks of simplification to me, like rendering anything too complicated would have put too much of a strain on the CG dept.

I mean yeah, but at the same time, it's hard not to see where they're coming from. I'm in the camp 'suit did the job for me, but only on a basic level, and could have been much better'.

Anyone else wondered if the suit could have been even so good that it would overshadow spidey's? :D

That's some plastic right there.

There are a number of things that could have been done. One is to have followed most of the art concepts for the movie. Every one of them was better than what we got.

Yes, just as with Lord I ask you if you saw any of the art concepts for the movie. They were amazing.

I didn't like how the mask couldn't show WD's expression

If it's plastic it's still well hidden, because that looks like a metal helmet.

You mean that he was supposed to looks scary (as I had said)?
No, that he was supposed to be scary when he breaks into your home and threatens your life, a psycho murderer with big gadgets. If you wouldn't be scared even after he made you end up in the hospital then you must be Duke Nukem.

I did, i even have the book, and they didn't go with them for one simple reason, it was too expensive and time was of the essence,, they also did this test:

[YT]QEZBhL5lpqg[/YT]

That one would have been the cheapest they could get, and while the effect is impressive, the mask itself looks aweful compared to the one we got.

The worst is when it's very clear it's a stuntman in the suit who doesn't make any attempt to look like he's talking.

Other than in SM1 there was virtually no quips.

Weather you found the quips on TASM good or not is subjective. Atleast Webb tried, Rami just ignored it really. That was a really big slap in the face :(
Maybe Raimi saw how the quips could've been interpreted as cruel by the audience and just didnt use them
