Dan Slott =/= farmernudie

And, the Slott has spoken!

If I only had read until post 832...but, that's simply a case of where something can be taken out of context. I had a feeling Dan might make a response to this thread. I'm glad he did.

Yeah, I'm surprised how long this went on! I saw the link in the Amazing Spider-Man thread and checked it out. At first, I was disappointed because I usually agreed with farmernudie and he was one of my favorite posters. News that it was Dan doing a parody and I was duped made me feel a little, I don't know. Dopey?

But, I decided to read more of the thread and saw it was a joke. Then later in the day, I see this thread pop up and it seemed no one caught on! I was at work, so I don't post. This was my first chance, but I see Dan has already cleared it up.

Who'd a thought you'd get false info on the internet?

BTW, for those who still want to have the pleasure of complaining about Dan, he did insult us all by implying we can't put "2 and 2 together."

Jokes gone wrong are the most hilarious. :awesome:

Love the clip, Anubis!

Heck, I've just enjoyed reading farmernudie's responses today to being called Dan Slott. I would think the name "farmernudie" was worse. And, I never even heard of him before, but I sure know the name now!

I'm gonna keep my eye's peeled for a farmernudie reference in an upcoming issue of ASM.

I got 222222222.

Now, I know what you're thinking, "SuperFerret, why is it 222222222, and not 22?" Well obviously, when you put 2 and 2 together, they're going to breed.

I'm glad this was all cleared up, because honestly even though I'm not totally feeling ASM right now, Slott is one of my favorite comic book writers.

Step 1: Pretend to be cute asian girl.
Step 2: ????
Step 3: Profit

Oh, it was just a joke. Okay, well, CBR is kind of the cradle of idiocy for the most part, so I guess I should have assumed as much, but I'll admit I really only read that one page and one afterward. It seemed like he was running with it, and I guess I didn't sense the irony he was trying to convey since I hadn't read the full thread.

Oh well, I wasn't really mad or offended personally. I just thought it was strange

I must say, I love the thought that I'm the only person not in the comics industry and that everyone else is just posting here around deadlines under various screen names...

I also like the thought that the writers/artists refer to those of us who aren't as "real people", as if they were genetically engineered in a lab somewhere.

Hound55,
C'mon. The context of "real people" in my posts wasn't industry professional vs. "real people", it was ALL real people (comic pros and comic fans ALIKE) vs. made up screen names.

This all came about due to a misunderstanding, some posters were thinking that a real person was actually a fake screen name. If you go back and read the earlier post, I refer to industry professionals (Steve Wacker, Kurt Busiek, Mark Waid, and myself) as "real" as well.

Yeah, but everybody knows Steve Wacker is an android. I saw it on the Internet.

Well this makes me feel better, and my apologies to Dan Slott and everyone else here.

I was directed to that link by another post in another thread and read about 2 or 3 pages before getting so mad I had to close it. Up to that point it seemed legit and I had no reason to believe otherwise. I'll admit, I was surprised when I read it because, as I said before, I could see Dan having a second screen name, to do what he claimed to be doing, it just didn't strike me as him. But then his 'get over it' comments about OMD made me think it was possible, and the fact that he admited it himself (seemingly) gave me no other choice BUT to believe it.

Well, I guess I can consider buying future books by Dan Slott again.

I wasn't saying that that was the reality, merely that I like the thaught.

Yes it would be taking your comment out of context, but the THOUGHT amuses me.

And now I'd like to amend that to read "The thought and Anubis amuses me"...

None of this still solves the greatest mystery of the day: Where in the heck does that clip in JH's avatar come from? I tried to find it on YouTube for a while; but, I'm clueless.

Also, I still want to know what the hell you are up to in the three months that Marvel Previews shows NOTHING coming out from you, Dan! I can't even remember seeing any Spidey stories; but, maybe I missed that. Is it that event you were talking about, where you've laid clues about in past stories???

The mystery resolved in the next issue of... "Peter Parker".

:yay:

Dear Lord,
I am NOT farmernudie.

Did ANYONE read the actual post?
It was on a thread arguing whether people abuse their anonymity by hiding behind screen names-- and if we should all start using our real names instead (like myself, Steve Wacker, Mark Waid, Kurt Busiek, and others do.)

As a JOKE I outed myself as TWO different screen names (farmernudie and whiteshark), BOTH of whom are ACTUALLY real people (one who is NOT enjoying the current SPIDER-MAN title, and the other who is a HUGE fan of the book).

The following couple of posters IMMEDIATELY spotted it as a joke and had fun with it. And both farmernudie and whiteshark were good sports about it. I did one or two more posts to keep the gag going-- and it KINDA showed one of my points-- that it COULD be ANYONE behind a screen name.

Some people came to the table late (like people who turned on Orson Welles' WAR OF THE WORLD'S broadcast WITHOUT hearing the disclaimer) and this thing has spread to other web-sites.

Here's the thing:
It's INSANE. Both of these guys (farmernudie and whiteshark) have been posting on CBR for YEARS and MANY, MANY OTHER SITES AS WELL. If I HAD been these TWO POSTERS while doing my OWN posts as well... There's NO WAY the timing could've worked out AT ALL. I obviously would NEVER have slept, taken ANY vacations, or had ANY time to do my frickin' JOB! Anyone with common sense would've figured this out. Oy.

The sad thing is, farmernudie likes going to a site that is (on the whole) VERY negative about the current SPIDER-MAN book, and now all of his fellow posters there have effectively shunned him because he's having a HELLUVA time convincing them that he's NOT me. I've profusely apologized to farmernudie and he has GRACIOUSLY accepted. (Thank God!) But c'mon, people. Can we all put 2 and 2 together and come up 4 already. Jesus.

I want this poor guy to have his internet-life back and happily go back to his regular bashing sessions about ASM with his regular bashing buddies. Instead of BEING the one who's gettin' bashed! He's a nice guy-- married, works in the medical field, likes Calvin & Hobbes, reads lots of Marvel Comics, and likes dishing on why he thinks my book sucks. I did NOT make him up out of the ether. Can we all give him a break?
Dang, I guess I should've read the rest of that CBR thread instead of just the first couple posts after the 'outing.'

Although, if you were using alternate screen names to do some kind of wacky social experiment, I guess this situation--outing yourself as other posters on opposite sides of an issue so it looks like you were trolling both sides, then revealing that you're actually not either of those other posters, then gauging our reactions--might probably tell us that we're quick to expect the worst of our celebrities. That's a bit sad. Easy to explain given the kind of stuff we hear in gossip magazines and such, but still sad. :csad:

Well, it does seem that there was a reason for that accusation. Just saying.
