Transformers Dane Cook withdraws from the Transformers movie

Dane Cook is smart. I can't imagine enough people wanting to see this movie to warrant it's production. It's so...hollow. I'll catch it on cable or rent it. What's next? Voltron? Zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Transformers is in a different league to Voltron. Like higher for instance. :cwink:

Transformers hollow eh? Compared to what?

Should I feel relieved that Bay couldn't fit his scene in, or discouraged that he even considered it? If this incredibly lame non-news item is to be considered "positive" news, then this movie really is doomed!

...so did you come in here to contribute anything or just show off your sweet being-an-idiot skills?

most people will never know anything beyond what they see with their own two eyes.

what a publicity ****e. tries to pull off a publicity stunt by getting a role in this movie, then tries to make a publicity stunt out of not getting a roll in this movie. dane cook can go **** his self promoting ass, if he hasn't already.

First Michael Clark Duncan pulls out, then Dane Cook? I don't like either one of these guys personally but if TF is really gonna be all that Bay and co have said, then these guys should be bending over backwards to try and at least get a cameo in the flick. These departures lead me to believe that this movie may not be all it's cracked up to be, because these guys have apparently seen things we the fans haven't..and are not liking what they see......

I think it's more to do with them not 'working out' for the movie.

Plus I was never a fan of Michael Clark Duncan making an appearance anyway. Much that I find Tyrese Gibson dispensable, he's still better for the role than MCD.

I don't like the idea of Tyrese in there either. I'd prefer they get alot of little known to unknown actors for these roles, kinda like they do with all these horrors films that keep coming out lately.TF is not exactly a movie driven by big name actors...

I just came to contribute my opinion not attack anyone. I stand by my words I don't see enough people wanting to see this film to warrant this big of a production. If there's any film this Summer that has the potential to be a massive letdown at the box office...it's this one. When I was a child I played with toys etc...but don't want to see a GI Joe movie, nor do I want to see a He-Man movie, and Transformers is also on the list of films as an adult I could care less to see. I also don't think the fan-base for the Transformers is even 25% of what it was when the toys first came out...and the population is much larger. Maybe when it's released and I see the trailer and the reviews hit I might change my mind...I doubt it. Oooh it's a truck now it's a robot. I'd rather play a video game. If they can add depth to the characters somehow and prevent the loss of all of these C-Grade actors then maybe they'll have hope.

You entitled to your opinion AD. I think the reason why the production is so big, is that the filmmakers are banking on the fan base going to see this movie..they are, however, undoubtable going about it the wrong way by giving us Transformers..that don't look like ...Transformers. If this movie sucks, i really hope it blows up in their faces in a big way, and will teach all other studios that what the fans want, is what the fans should get..that is if they, the filmmakers, actually want to make money.
Plus, a movie like Tf has to have a large budget, or it won't work.

The only positive thing I can say is I loved Bay's last film "The Island". I thought he really matured a bit in that film.

The biggest thing that worked for that film was that it didn't start out with an action scene. It grew steadily out of calmness into action and had a nice, slow midpoint, too. It wasn't just bam, bam, bam all the time.

The Island was definately an improvement from his other films. But IMHO it certainly wasn't all that good. It tried... I guess... but it's definately not in the league with far superior sci-films of its kind (Minority Report, Gattaca, etc). It had potential but it was ulitmately way dumbed down and pretty stupid.

Allah is just the word for "God" More specifically it means "The One God" It is a title not a name. The Islamic One God is the God of Abraham, the same god of the Jews and the Christians. You claim to have read the Koran, yet you lack a basic understanding of it. BTW the Gospels, and the Torah are full of contradictions as well. And before you level any finger of judgemnet perhaps you should read about the genocides comanded by Yahweh in the Torah (Old Testament), and some of the more provocative passages regarding Jesus that were ommitted from the King James editions of the Gospels. You should really know at least a little something about what you are talking about before you attempt to broach such a broad, worldly and sensitive topic.

THESE SUCK TOO
THERE ALL BS

What did you expect from an unofficial remake of the Clonus Horror?

Funny you say that:

Studios face 'Island' trial
Infringement lawsuit sent to court
By PAMELA MCCLINTOCKA federal judge in New York has ordered a trial in the case against DreamWorks and Warner Bros. alleging that "The Island" was based on 1979 indie pic "Parts: The Clonus Horror."
Studios had asked that the case be dismissed, but U.S. District Court Judge Shira A. Scheindlin ruled there were several issues best reserved for a jury, such as the degree of similarity between the two films.

Lawsuit was brought by "Clonus" producer-director Robert S. Fiveson and Clonus Associates.

The judge said she could not summarily decide in favor of Fiveson because it was impossible to conclude from the evidence that the resemblance between the two films was so overwhelming as to mandate such an action. She said a jury would have to weigh whether the similarities were qualitatively substantial.

When "The Island" was released in 2005, several reviewers referred to "Clonus," which revolved around a secret colony of clones who are raised for spare organs. One of the clones escapes into Southern California to expose the facility.

"The Island," directed by Michael Bay, also revolved around a colony of clones raised to provide spare parts for humans, with two of the clones escaping into a futuristic Los Angeles in an attempt to expose the colony and shut the facility down.

When the lawsuit was filed, DreamWorks issued a statement saying "The Island" was independently created and did not infringe on anyone's copyrights.

Those issues aside, DreamWorks also has argued plaintiffs were not entitled to any damages because "The Island" wasn't profitable.

The judge, however, said the defendants' method of calculating was highly contested by the plaintiffs and that the defendants did not provide supporting documentation when filing a declaration saying "The Island" made zero profit.

DreamWorks and Warners declined comment on the judge's ruling.

DreamWorks released the picture domestically, Warners overseas. In the U.S., the pic -- which reportedly cost $120 million to make --grossed only $35.8 million at the box office. Its overseas take was $124.5 million.
