^Exactly, leave DD out of the spidey movies, and put Kingpin in one of them, but have someone else play him.

Yes, it's good when they think about the character. But it isn't required. And it hardly means they aren't fit to perform.

Actually, it is sort of require they have a clue about the character. I took acting classes with professionnals and believe me, you have to understand the role you play and the text you are saying. That's exactly how you are considered fit to perform. If you don't have a clue about the character, usually you simply don't make it. if the director knows his job, that is.

Thinking about it, maybe MCD's interview explains why he was so utterly unconvincing in the role. I always thought the script was flawed, but maybe casting him was a mistake too. Somebody mentionned Ving Rhames, and I think he would have been a better Kingpin, maybe Brendan Gleeson would have fit the role too. Of course, they would have needed a superior script, but from this interview, MCD didn't bother too much to understand the character and take the role with intelligence.

How did Elektra and DD found each other, how did Bullseye found them, how did the polcie knew Fisk was the Kingpin, what the Hell was Murdoch doing in a trial as a prosecutor while he is a defense attorney, etc.

Watch the DC

Also in some cases, it's a movie!

So you want him to talk in huge monologues all the time about his character? There was no reason for him to. Get over it, because what you're saying, I'm sorry to say, is just stupid.

Normally I'd agree. But in this case I believe it will.

No, I want him, when asked about the Kingpin, to say a few more intelligent words than "I think the Kingpin worked out in jail and lost weight", if he thinks there is anywhere to go with the character, and if MCD actually likes the character! There was a reason to talk about the Kingpin, somebody asked about him! What does he think about his character's attitudes, motivations, psychology, in regards of what happened before? That's not stupid, that's a normal expectation one can have towards an actor! Because we are talking about his job, after all.

A movie has to be coherent when it's not DC. And a mass of incoherences cannot be excused by the "it's only a movie" argument, which quite often gets non sequitur.

That argument would stand if DD (theatrical) wasn't raped in the editing room by Fox. Had it been MSJ's fault import facts were cut out then yes your argument stands, but what happened to the theatrical cut was Fox's bulls***.

It doesn't matter because the DC cut still sucked. Sure, it sucked less than the theatrical version, but it still sucked none-the-less.
