So what was the biggest scene you shot to fit your own sense... that's different from the previous two films? What will people who know your work as a director see as distinctively something of yours?

Ratner: I don't think it's a shot. I don't think it's something like Spike Lee with the shot of the guy floating down the street. (laughter) I think it's more of an energy. If you watch the other movies and you watch this movie, I think this movie has a pace that's my kind of ADD frenetic... I get bored very easily so... next scene, next scene, next scene, keep it moving, keep it moving, keep it moving... I mean, did you fall asleep at all in the film or no? A few times?

It actually did exactly what he said..

Ok , i know now who i don't wan't for another Xmen

Oddly, I never saw it leap about that much.. but it's obviously why some of you did, if you were more sensitive to the 'pacing'. Some scenes could have been longer, I admit that...

i thought the pacing was fine except for right after the bridge levitation, we jump from day to night, that was the only point i thought perhaps some time should have passed or something better should have been done to get the time differential part shown better...

Ratner, please do not mention Spike Lee, do not try to compare yourself to great visionary's.........

LOL!!! At least I know what to expect so I won't be too bothered by it!!!

First this....

Ratner: They were inspired by the comics. I took... for instance, Spike started as Kid Omega, but there was another character. I found one character that I liked and then I took the powers. For instance, Callisto has the power of another character who moves fast and has the telepathy thing. The girl from the wall looks like Psylocke but she has the power of one of the other characters. So I mixed and matched powers to service the story. Instead of having ten more actors in the movie, I just said, "You're going to have these three powers."

... and now this. Brett... you ****ed up.

So this is the official, Brett sucks thread?

Am I the only one who actually enjoyed this movie. I knew when I was walking into the theater what to expect. I thought it was great. On par with X-Men 2, maybe a tad bit better.

I loved the movie. It's pacing was just a niggling thing

oh, Brett? My friend DID sleep during the movie.

Well, he was awake since 3AM after all...

 WOW....I have to say that was stupid idea, because it kind of ruins the unique powers of possible future characters like Quicksliver!!!

The Pace felt like a comic book, flashy and fast

However this is a comic book movie, and as such need more time and soemtimes slower pace in certain parts to build character development. not 30 minutes but maybe 10 or 15

All the concerns about the runtime were completely justified... it was completely diabolical. It wasn't just Angel and Rogue who had considerably reduced roles, it was EVERYONE!!! Nobody had enough screentime to take their characters to any new places. I mean the Jean/Xavier relationship was handled wonderfully for all the five or six lines of dialogue of an explanation that it was given! How incredibly frustrating. The way they handled the transition of the Phoenix to the big screen was so skillful, but the whole thing is over before it's even begun so even cares?

If Halle Berry thinks she had an expanded role she's completely deluded. She probably had more to do in the last movie.

NOTHING was developed properly. Not even their famous 'cure' story. That just came up out of nowhere. The whole thing was ridiculous and nobody had any closure, except maybe Wolverine.

One would think that they practically ran out of time to shoot more film. It certainly seems that way.

Ugh...

I kind of accept Callisto's superspeed - it's an extension of her comicbook counterpart's superfast reflexes, and it makes her more likely to be a good opponent for Storm.

Psylocke's powers bother me more as she has a large fanbase and is a wellknown X-Men character. Aside from no psi-blades, what was she doing in that scene - did she phase through the wall? or was she camouflaged against it and then made herself visible?

She was camouflaged.

And no psi-blades was a dissapointment.

lol ;) but i enjoyed the movie for what it was you know ;)

that's not a bad movie..after that that's not my idea of good cinema.

The only thing that really kept this movie back from being the best is how short it was, and they really needed to focus more on the characters and not so much the action.

Brett and his damn add

Okay. I give up. I'm not defending him anymore. I was blaming the script writers for that, I didn't know Ratner was to blame.

I mean ... that paragraph is sheer blasphemy.

Wow, I remember when the first film came out, and some people complained that there wasn't enough action.

Here's the whole paragraph posted by Retroman.

How did you pick the mutants though, particularly the new characters with new powers?

Ratner: I just went through the comics and the materials and thought "this is cool"..they're what I thought was cool. Callisto and the sidekicks of Magneto, whoever I thought was a cool sidekick and I just wanted to go in and put some color into it. It's a multi-racial comic and I wanted to put some color to it. Halle Berry was the only person of color in the last few movies, so I wanted to bring some flavor, as they say.

But it seemed like a lot of them were actually created like the spikey guy, the Asian character..
