From the interview:
Iger shot down the possibility of purchasing the film rights to other Marvel characters -- Fox's rights to X-Men, for example -- on the basis that there are so many in the Marvel stable to begin with that isn't the need for more.

key words right there.

he's basically saying "we've got enough, we don't need to "pay" for more. That says nothing about DD and F4 which have a very very close expiration date.

the discussion was about them buying back the rights to the Fox properties

I'm trying to make sense of the logic of throwing DareDevil's billy club and its effect on the receiving end.

In DareDevil v2 #005, Bullseye tossed the club and it pierced the torso of Karen Paige, and he was near her. That method of killing was adapted to killing Elektra's father in the movie, but at least it was from greater distance

I know some will say "DD restrains himself", but he still tosses his club hard enough, some times he does it from a height and it moves diagonally downward, the acceleration adds up in a murderous way falling down, and the hardest thing it does is barely making a mark on the target it hits, and makes him faint, DD often hits the head with the billy club, but no one ever had a crack in his skull

I hope they don't make it a weapon in Bullseye's hand if they do a reboot, nor should they do it in a game

Bullseye has trained himself to the point where he can employ almost any object he can manually handle as a deadly throwing weapon. Paperclips, playing cards, golf balls, pencils, a paper airplane and even his own tooth.

Daredevils billyclub is designed to only incapacitate, but in the hands of the master assassin, like everything else, it is a lethal weapon. No doubt Daredevil could employ it as a lethal weapon as well but not to the extent to which Bullseye is able.

If Disney/Marvel ever get the rights back, Daredevil should be the tentpole in a superhero TV drama featuring Marvel Knights. If you've seen shows like Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones you can see the potential of a weekly serial utilizing Daredevil and possibly other "street level" characters. However, I would have to stipulate they should keep clear of the limitaitons of their broadcast network and embrace the relative freedom of cable.

That's not going to happen though, is it? Yeah, I think Marvel Knights titles would make for some GREAT shows on HBO or FX or other cable networks who are making some great mature dramas, but since Marvel is now officially Disney/ABC, that's pretty much the only place you can expect to see *any* TV shows based on the comics. And that, obviously, means family-friendly fare.

Desperate housewives, GCB,, revenge, greys anatomy, lost, etc... Are family friendly? Sure they're not the same as some cable but.... They arnt child friendly show either

and there's certainly nothing that was shown on NYPD blue that couldn't be in a DD tv show... DD on TV would (and should) be nothing more than a cop drama style show. It doesn't need "gore"

^^ This!

In addition, Disney has equity interest in A&E. It's not hard to envision cutting a deal to launch original programming featuring Marvel properties. Not only would it give this pisspoor excuse of a network a boost in credibility but also give Disney a platform to explore more mature original programming.

Will this happen? Probably not, but there are certainly options and potential should Disney choose to explore them.

Titillating "women's shows" about girls behaving badly isn't the same thing as gritty street crime dramas like MK Punisher, Daredevil, Luke Cage and the like.

Not saying Disney or ABC absolutely *wouldn't* try to put a Marvel Knight title on air, but they're big networks that are afraid to gamble on edgy series. Unlike a cable channel that can afford to dodge network standards 'n' practices.

Don't forget a dash of sharp courtroom drama :word:

I don't know greyS has gone pretty dark before and very bloody. But again dd just needs the equivalent of nypd blue. it's no where near as dark as punisher.

Lost had a guy get blown up with dynamite, gore and all. ABC is fine for Marvel Knights

Bombs (and gore) are fine in primetime. Censors got no prob with ultraviolence. F-BOMBS are something else entirely. :oldrazz: You can only get away with that on cable.

I will ALWAYS be more inclined to support a theatrical Daredevil - reboot, sequel, whatever. BUT a Dexter-esque HBO series on Daredevil would be awesome. 12 one-hour long episodes per season would be incredible for amazing storylines. And to not have to worry about censoring content - be it language, violence, etc. The quality of shows on premium cable right now is astounding. Game of Thrones is an excellent example of how these networks are proven grounds for fantasy-based shows.

I'd much rather a DD show than a Hulk one at this point. I trust del Toro and all but ****, do we really need ANOTHER Banner? Especially when Ruff has been so critically lauded? DD could use the recognition more than Hulk anyway

I'd be cool with a show on FX, like The Shield or Justified, but a bit more superhero-y.

Exactly. Are the public going to be so ready to accept another Banner when Marvel have finally found one who works? Are Marvel going to want the public to be confused or their loyalties divided? I'm hoping Marvel scraps the Hulk tv series and makes Hulk movies instead. DD would work for a TV series and could build up the necessary recognition and fanbase. I don't know if the first DD movie had that many fans from the general public going in, and it wasn't as highly praised as the current Marvel movies since 2008.

If Michael C. Hall is cast as Daredevil, I will literally pass out. When I regain consciousness & remember the casting of Hall as Murdock, I'll proceed to pass out again.

Slightly off subject but while I haven't seen the Blade,Wolverine or Iron Man anime series,I have seen the X-Men series and really think they should have gone with a Daredevil series instead of the solo Wolverine series.Having Wolveine in the X-Men show, which I thought was pretty good over all,I think would have been enough.

^I agree a Daredevil anime would be amazing, and way better than the wolverine one.
