Love the masks in the concepts with the covered neck .

Not sure if these were posted but they're tweets from Kane:

17th June: "Thinking rouges gallery..."
19th June: "Beware purple men and typhus"
23rd June: "Me and Slade cooking up lotsa fun surprises for DD. And most importantly, not talking down to the fans. Rich themes, complex story..."
9th July: "Watching lots of Sidney Lumet for inspiration"

*Just for those who didnt know, Lumet is the amazing director behind Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon, and Prince of the City.

Killgrave? Odd choice. And "typhus" *has* to be thinly-veiled code for Typhoid Mary. Who was already done (poorly) in the Elektra film.

I thought it was already confirmed that this was going to be the Born Again story arc....? What's with Purple Man and Typhoid Mary references?

What about John Travolta for Kingpin. I know he's sometimes a pretty bad actor, but sometimes he's good given the right script.

"Typhoid" from Elektra was so different from the original character, she can afford another rendition. What I really want is better courtroom drama.

he is just not big enough

MCD had the perfect size at 6'5 350lbs
I think anyone is going to be a step down from MCD if the character is used at all (strong possibility he won't be) but I think they'd probably rely on movie magic the next time to make him look more sizeable.

The movie is supposed to be based on Born Again, and Kingpin plays a role in that story. I don't think they are going to be able to cast someone with the size and shape that Duncan had, I'm guessing whoever is cast is going to get some sort of muscle suit and shoe lifts to get that size that is needed for Kingpin.

Then again they could just end up changing to a fat criminal mastermind with no real physicality needed for the role.

I think you could do a good job with James Gandolfini or Stephen Marcus in a fat suit to exaggerate their bulk even more.

They could just shave Stallone's head and just add a few more steroids in his cereal and milk during breakfast!:awesome:

What about Danny DeVito as KIngpin? :woot:

...too bad there won't be the cameos from Captain America and Thor.. I hope another henchman is involved besides Nuke.. Gladiator.. Bullet.. Bushwhacker..

How did everyone feel about the change in Elektra and Bullseye's costumes in Daredevil (2003)? I was fine with it, because, especially with Bullseye, I think that their comic book outfits might not have worked very well. Now I don't mean that their costumes wouldn't work on screen at all, but I think that it depends on the film. The reason I say the outfits wouldn't work as well as it does in the comics. In the comics, Daredevil and his associated rogues and supporting cast characters exist amid a whole universe of superheroes and supervillains in colorful costumes so those costumes aren't particularly outlandish by that universe's standards. In the movie, there was Daredevil, Elektra, Bullseye, maybe Kingpin (he doesn't really wear a costume),...and that was it. That would mean that Bullseye and Elektra would be the only assassins in the world who would be wearing costumes, which would make them stand out like a sore thumb.

I agree that Bullseye's costume would look too "comicky" for film --- even though I think the forehead scar is just as roll-yer-eyes gimmicky --- but Elektra? C'mon. Her comic-book costume is perfectly straightforward (even if it screams pornstar hooker), and would've looked fine on film. At the *very* least give her the iconic do-rag.

I think you missed my point. I was saying that those costumes work fine in the comics because they are a part of a whole universe which is filled with costumed superheroes and supervillains, and that sort of thing is somewhat commonplace, which could apply to film as well if you set up that whole universe around them. The Daredevil movie had just the Daredevil characters in what was meant to be an otherwise realistic world. That was why I think the costumes wouldn't have worked as well in that film, not because the costumes themselves would look ridiculous on film. Make sense?

I haven't posted in a casting thread, or any thread, in a really long time, but I've really got my fingers crossed Daredevil is done right this time. I've got a few ideas for who I'd like to see on-screen that could do this story justice.

Matt Murdock / Daredevil - Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine, The Notebook)
One of the best young actors working today, and he could bring something special to the role. He's can be tough, smart, damaged, sweet, and earnest. Everything Murdock/Daredevil needs to be.

Wilson Fisk / Kingpin - Ray Winstone (The Departed, 44 Inch Chest)
Now, Winstone is considerably smaller than Michael Clarke Duncan, but movies from Lord of the Rings to Elf to Harry Potter have shown how easy it is to use camera angles to accentuate someone's height. Winstone could be the toughest, scariest incarnation of Kingpin we've ever seen.

Elektra Natchios - Olivia Wilde (Entourage, Wrong Turn)
An established actress, and a beautiful woman, who can pull off the transformation from girlfriend to assassin.

Bullseye - Joel Edgerton (Animal Kingdom, Warrior)
Edgerton is a great actor who can be extremely intimidating, even when just holding a deck of playing cards or a baseball. Plus, if his 'Warrior' co-star gets to intimidate Batman, this one deserves to, at least, menace Daredevil.

Ben Urich - Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, The Lincoln Lawyer)
Cranston is an amazing actor, and a consistently excellent supporting player in great films.

Karen Page - Anna Kendrick (Up In The Air, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World)
For the role of Karen Page, I'm looking at an actress from Slade's 'Eclipse,' Anna Kendrick. She's an actress who just exudes cuteness, charm, and intelligence. Watching her inevitable slide into drugs and
death
, would be heartbreaking.

Foggy Nelson - Tyler Labine (Reaper, Mad Love)
Foggy has to be funny, but still feel like a competent lawyer, and a loyal friend to Matt. Labine is perfect for a supporting role like this.

I like your Matt/DD, Elektra and Foggy choices.

let the franchise return to marvel, recast and do the frank miller version this would rival the batman franchise.lets have the kingpin from the spiderman and daredevil comic.maybe a cameo in the spiderman reboot.michael c.hall looks great in the picture, maybe to old for an origin story but perfect as the miller daredevil.
