iron man had 4 writers
Thor had 3

freaking ant man has been in production since 2007 why haven't they made it? you'll probably have an excuse for this right

but oh i forgot you have been extremely bias towards FOX this whole damn thread and hate them with every last breathe so why should i expect you to have an unbiased opinion

Pardon me. I forgot you and only like 2 other people want fox to reboot this film (either that or your so desperate for a film you don't really care what studio makes it) be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

This wreaks of punisher warzone

2006 for Ant-Man actually.

Let's also not forget that antman has kept the same writer and director the whole way through. And both Wright and feige have also admitted that other than rewrite the reason antman has yet to be filmed is schedule.

Up until last month fiege and marvel said only 2 films per year and only 1 for the year of avengers

And a daredevil sequel/reboot has been in the works since 2003. Nearly a decade

lol since when are we supposed to be unbiased? Fox makes subpar movies based on characters I like. Of course I'm biased. If I could I'd rip every single Marvel property away from them in an instant and put them back where they belong before they manage to screw up another one.

exactly,

i love how fox put's out 1 good X-men movie in 8 years and people instantly turn and think FOX is now all about quality. That's one comic book film, hardly enough proof imo. People thought FOX was going to do the comic films justice after X2 as well... but instead we got F4, F4RSS, X3, and XO:W. sorry.. but i'm not naive enough to believe one film out of the gate is proof.

and no... chronicle and rise of the apes are not comparable.. yes same fan base, but they're also original ideas. There's alot more room to flub up those films than there is Superheroes imo.

Maybe because Marvel are prioritizing Iron Man, Captain America and Thor first.

I seriously thought Ant Man was gonna be released before 2011. :csad:

How is Rise of the Apes an original idea?

the origin story is an original idea. It's not a remake and the names of the apes and general idea is really all they had to worry about with continuity to the other films. They pretty much had free range. It's not a direct translation unlike the comic films, where they have 40+ years of characterization and stories and things that they "need" to get right.

For Rise of the Apes all they really needed was how to get to the end result.

I dunno. That one's walking a fine line. But I suppose if you eliminated every reference to previous Apes lore, you'd still have a movie there. So I'll give you that.

how is hiring a writer for the possible 3rd+ rewrite of the entire script and him being one with an incredibly small and practically transparent amount of writing creds not half-assing it?

If they cared about the film at all they'd have actually made it by now imo.

he could have had a fantastic pitch...people have to get started somewhere
and word on the street is Marvel is looking for a lot of first time talent for some of their characters as well.

im talking more about story telling, and characterization. The easter eggs were easter eggs (aside from the apes names and the reference to the shuttle launch) they had 100% free range. The only things they had to worry about were the cause of the uprising, they had the after math (the previous films) and they had free range on how it got their. That's what makes it original. There really were no "rules" and guidelines they had to follow other than "ape take over"

marvel's first time talent usually involves people who've made their mark at least once already. Usually with indie films and such. You want talent that's able to prove themselves. (like david slade with Hard candy and Marc Webb with 500 days of summer)

David James Kelley is credited for "post-production assistant" for sunshine cleaning...

If he can get the screen writing job for simply that... I think majority of us could have walked in the office with an even better "pitch" haha.

Kelley didn't get the job because of his Post work...he pitched the idea to Fox and they loved it.

I am a freelance screenwriter in LA...my agent informed me sunday morning that Marvel is taking pitches for 5 characters they want desperately to make into movies and don't know how. They are emphasizing the pitches come from people looking for that big break.

I hope you (and others) realize that the "Born again pitch" has been around since DD1 was getting a sequel.. this is nothing more then a ploy to keep the rights. Something FOX is known for...

A sequel to the Daredevil film is in development, and is expected to use the "Born Again" storyline. Director Mark Steven Johnson showed interest in returning to direct with the "Born Again" storyline. Michael Clarke Duncan stated strong interest in reprising his role as the Kingpin. Johnson stated that villains Mr. Fear or The Owl are strong possibilities to appear for the sequel

"born again" was also brought up last year when Brad Caleb Kane was signed on to write it.
In March 2011, Variety reported that David Slade would direct a Daredevil reboot. In June 2011, it was reported that Fringe writer Brad Caleb Kane would be adapting the "Born Again" storyline for the film.

i find it highly unlikely that Kelley's pitch was soooo much different than the rest. Problem is, the other writers baled on the film.

Does anyone have any information about this screenwriter, David James Kelley?
I've searched around the internet and I can find is that he apparently worked on a draft of the live-action Akira. Has he done any previous work? Does anyone know any info on how he got the Daredevil job?

a writer gets a job thru something called a pitch. A pitch is a meeting between execs and a writer in which the writer sell himself and his writing ability to the execs. If it was a particular project...like this one was the writer will tell the execs his idea for the story. So David James Kelley went in and pitched his take on Born Again...and while it is an adaptation every writer writes differently...the execs liked his pitch and commissioned him to write the script.

your hate for Fox is clouding your judgement

no not really

Then you're not one to talk whether or not if i'm biased. I've been around here alot longer than you, have friends in the industry working for the studios and personally feel I know the industry a little better than you at least pertaining to FOX and Tom Rothman's tactics

Maybe not the as much as yourself with script writing, but the politics.... Yes

^THIS

1st spidey says they are half assing because they are on thier 2nd writer yet thor had 3 and iron man had 4 writers

then claims that if they cared they would of had the movie made already then i bring up ant man being in production since like 06 over at marvel studios but they are prioritizing the others lol yeah sure

but i am sure he cant wait for TASM even with sony's 2 horrible ghost riders films and the abysmal spiderman 3
:whatever:

not very consistent
